  • Went in to fight the person ranked 5th, only to be kicked from the fight because he was already being attacked. When the arena refreshed, I was flung out to 16th!
I surmise that several events must have happened in tandem for this to have happened:
    1) someone went in to attacked 4th just as I went in and hit Ready before I did
    2) the person in position 16 attacked the person in 13th or12th at the same time as they were attacking me
    3) the person in position 16 finished their attack just before the person in 13th/12th finished attack me
    4) all this happened in the 20-30 seconds I was trying to load the match and the arena reloaded.
    Talk about bad RNG.
Whether or not it is working as intended or not, this is trash! Fix your game scopely!

He likely wasn't in a fight. You getting knocked down to 16 put him out of range for you to attack him. "...or you are no longer in range to reach them." The slinging in the game is stupid. If the player getting attacked is protected from anyone else attacking them then the attacking player should be un-attackable as well since both are in a combat.

You might be right. When I get this message I usually assume they are being attacked already, I must admit I still don't fully understand the Arena slingshot bug!

@@ansonlam4081 Basic break down is you have three players, A at 1, B at 5, and C at 9. B attacks A, but during that attack and before B wins C attacks B. B and C each win. A drops to 5 for losing to B and since B lost to C, C moves up to 1 since that was B's new ranking and B drops to 9 which was C's ranking. In my opinion, B shouldn't be attackable since they would already be in combat with A, same as A couldn't be attacked by D (for example) since A's in combat with B.
So in your video, with you at 9, you were in range to attack 5 but you likely lost a defense before you started your attack which is why 5 became out of range for you to attack. Since above rank 20 you can only attack up to four ranks higher it looks like two players behind you were trying to climb as well. Likely 16 was attacking 13 while 13 was attacking you and you were getting ready to attack 5. 16 beat 13, 13 beat you so you dropped to 16, 16 went to 13 and 13 went to 9 and 5 was blissfully unaware of the chaos below him since you were now out of range to attack them.

Thanks for your explanation, that's very insightful. I think timing also plays a part in slingshotting, but again not 100% sure how it works. I believe 13 would have had to complete the attack on me before 16 completed the attack on 9 in order for me to be slung out 7 places. As you say, 5 was probably oblivious to the bedlam happening below him!
