कुमार सानू और उदित नारायण दोनों के साथ बेहद दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण घटनाएं हुई थी। बेहद दुख की बात है कि मैं यहाँ हूँ यहाँ और तेरे नाम टाइटल सॉन्ग जैसे बेहतरीन ब्लॉकबस्टर songs के लिए उदित जी को फिल्म फेयर अवार्ड नहीं मिला। इसी तरह इनके कई बेहतरीन गाने हैं जिनके लिए इनको नॉमिनेट तो किया लेकिन फिल्म फेयर नही मिला। उदित जी के साथ कभी इंसाफ नहीं हुआ। मैं यहां हूं यहां (वीर जारा), कहो ना प्यार है टाइटल सॉन्ग, दिल तो पागल है टाइटल सॉन्ग, एक दिलरूबा है (बेवफा), जादू तेरी नजर, पहला नशा पहला खुमार, फूलों सा चेहरा तेरा, हो नहीं सकता (दिलजले ), कुछ कुछ होता है टाइटल सॉन्ग, तेरे नाम टाइटल सॉन्ग, दिल ने ये कहा है दिल से, आंखें खुली हो या हो बंद ( मोहब्बतें ), पंछी सुरु में गाते हैं (सिर्फ तुम), मेरी सांसों में बसा है, दुनिया हसीनो का मेला, इत्यादि। ये सारे गाने नॉमिनेट हुए थे। उदित जी को टोटल 20 बार फिल्मफेयर के लिए नॉमिनेट किया गया, इतनी बार अभी तक भारत के इतिहास में किसी सिंगर को नॉमिनेट नहीं किया गया है। अगर इमानदारी से फिल्मफेयर दिया जाता तो उदित जी को कम से कम 20 में से 10 बार फ़िल्म फेयर मिलना चाहिए था। वर्ष 1995 में तुझे देखा तो जाना सनम(कुमार सानू )को अवार्ड मिलना चाहिए था, और वर्ष 1994 में ये काली काली आंखें की जगह जादू तेरी नजर को अवार्ड मिलना चाहिए था। ऐसा ही वाकया नेशनल अवार्ड में भी हुआ है। घूंघट की आड़ से दिलबर का यह गाना कुमार सानू और अलका जी दोनों ने गाया था, लेकिन नेशनल अवॉर्ड सिर्फ अलका जी को मिला। कुछ कुछ होता है के टाइटल सॉन्ग के लिए अलका जी को नेशनल अवार्ड मिल गया, लेकिन उदित नारायण को नहीं मिला। फिल्मफेयर टीम के judges के फैसले पर मुझे बहुत आपत्ति है. साल 2004 में मर्डर फिल्म का एक गाना ' प्यासा दिल मेरा, एक रात बिताओ मेरे साथ ' जैसे बेहूदा और वाह्ययात गाने के लिए कुणाल गांजा वाला को फिल्म फेयर दे दिया जाता है, जबकि उस साल का सर्वश्रेष्ठ गाना था मैं यहां हूं यहां (वीर जारा ). पता नहीं क्या सोचकर यह लोग फिल्म फेयर देते हैं ? इन्हें म्यूजिक के टेस्ट का कुछ पता ही नहीं है और चले आते हैं जज बनने।

It doesn't mean Kumar sanu was better. Kumar Sanu is a copy cat. He sings from nose. He is not a technically a classed singer. His voice deteriorated very soon and he disappeared whilst Udit Ji ruled in different eras and is still singing. His voice quality, clarity, ranges, classical ability, singing style will always remain unmatched and of the finest standard India has ever seen. His voice even at this age is so pure, clean, melodious.
After Rafi, Kishore, Mukesh, Udit Narayan is the most original, finest singer India has ever seen, then comes Zubeen Garg (immensely talented, the king of humming, all scales, master of all musical instruments) and then Javed Ali who is also technically one of the finest singers. Arijit Singh is just overrated and doing well becoz of youngsters who love new style music.

It would be absolutely unfair to make a comparison between Sonu ji and Udit ji. Both are maestros. They are pillars of our music industry. They have different styles and different voice textures. However, it would also be unfair to compare Arijit and Atif with them. Udit ji and Sonu ji are legends. Such legends set benchmark for newcomers. Masters, legends are way ahead of anyone else. Do not ever dare to compare them with new singers.
