  • I ran into trees, bushes, weaved through a porch, and dodged a fence while testing these prop guards. And boy did I a learn a lot. Plus we discuss the controversy around Part 107.
    Here are the prop guards and gear tested (all unsponsored):

    Bless your heart for trying ... So many people are afraid to try

      Thanks, it was a bit nerve racking at first, but these guards do serve a purpose, in the next video I plan to do all the same things without the prop guards... Stay tuned.

      @@MakeItorBreakItNow, the fact that you have the prop guard, is it worth the risk.

    7:22 The drone software detected the prop guards, pretty neat! But that's also why obstacle avoidance did not work.

      I think you're right, but I'm a bit surprised it disabled all the sensors... I re-did this test without the prop guards and the results were very surprising, at least to me, here's a list to that video I posted yesterday: ruclips.net/video/62RhZ9M-Zgo/видео.html

      Also at 2:22. This is correct, obstacle avoidance is disabled when prop guards are installed. Even if you could turn it back on It would be rendered useless while using guards.
      They would likely trigger alerts constantly that would distract you from real hazards at the least. If your OA was set to brake mode The drone might not even move at all. Worse if it was set to bypass mode It might send the drone into false bypass maneuvers.

    Hi, nice house.. Did the guard mess with the sensors?

    • @MakeItorBreakItNow
      @MakeItorBreakItNow  9 дней назад

      Yes, the Mini 4Pro senses the guards and cancels out the collison avoidence, that's why I was running into things...

    Thankfully M4P has RID built-in for the added weight of those. I got those, but it was so abysmal in flight time and characteristics the only time I use them is flying around people, because that's a FAA requirement. 😢

      Agree with your point and after further testing I'm convinced the guards disable the collision avoidance... ruclips.net/video/AJsqkCnFJXg/видео.html

    adding prop guards doesn't put you at lvl 107 as you could still have a Mavic 3 and fly for recreation. You only need to register the drone because it's 250g and over but you can still fly for fun. It's only when you use your drone in furtherance of a business is where you will need a p107. And even if your done is less than 250g you will still need to register your drone with the FAA if you do plan to make money.

    • @MakeItorBreakItNow

      Interesting comment, my understanding is any drone over 250 gms needs to be registered with the FAA no matter what your intent is.

      @@MakeItorBreakItNow yes for registration you do need to if over 250g but that doesn’t put you in p107 as you can register as a recreational flyer

    I suggest getting the official DJI prop guards for the Mini 4 Pro. IMHO a far better design than what you have there

    • @MakeItorBreakItNow
      @MakeItorBreakItNow  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the suggestion, although I think these have proven to work just fine. DJI like other tech companies seem to over price their accessories, in my opinion...

      Bro you have to now do a comparison between this and DJIs because i personally own theirs and it seems to offer more protection

    Don't forget to add the RID module even you add the prop guards

      Good point. It seems like the extended batteries are easier to come by then the Mini 4 becomes compliant again...

    Did you not have an SD card in the quad ? The Storage full message is why I ask. Also I'm not sure why the Geo Fence even let you take off. It said it was in class B Airspace. Must be pretty close to an Airport or something.

    • @MakeItorBreakItNow
      @MakeItorBreakItNow  5 месяцев назад +1

      I'm 11 miles as the crow flies from the closest airport. And am respectful of all FAA requirements and don't fly very high as a rule. I did have a SD card in the quad that had plenty of space, I think that indication pops up when the quad internal storage is full. But to your point I'll check and make sure. Thanks for pointing this out.

      I agree that the screen shows the obstacle avoidance sensors in red because they are not turned on.
