I had another version of this up(the only difference with this one is this is a new soundtrack my friend composed specifically for this. In order to be a partner with youtube, you must have the rights to all the music, so this was our attempt at that.
My friend Stephen composed the music for this, it's an original piece specifically for this. You can contact him here.

As for me..
I'm a freelance cinematographer. For any potential job offers, feel free to contact me through my youtube page, or through my email at dpdevin@gmail.com
Here's some footage I shot with my Canon 5D Mark II while in Canada with my family last week.
We spent 10 days on Vancouver. Most of that time was spent in one of my favorite places, Barkley Sound. It's an area with 150 islands in a 5 mile radius. We canoed from one island to the next, camping on them.
On a technical side, it was all shot on the Canon 5D Mark II. Most of the shots were done with the Canon 16-35mm 2.8 L Series. A Nikon 50mm 1.8 adapter, and a Nikon 70-200 2.8 with Canon/Nikon lens adapter.
The smooth shots were done with a glidecam 2000. You can check out the exact model on their official website here where you can also buy them.

I had my tripod as well, with several shots handheld, with a "smooth cam" filter applied to it with Final Cut pro.

you are the only guy i see on youtube that actually knows how to use a 5d mk ii and what its capable of
Devin, for me this is still your best video, amazing, calm and flawless. I am watching it very often. Best wishes mate.
Who came here after watching the tutorial!!???!?!?!
+Limitless what exacly tutorial?
Me :) I love seeing people's progression and early videos, it gives me inspiration to keep making films :)
so proud to call this home
Yeah
me too bro
I wish I could say the same...
Splash Brothers

cool cool
I will 100% give free advise for anybody wanting to travel here. I have lived on Vancouver Island my whole life. You can judge me as biased, but man o man is this place super special.
Iris Elias what places would you recommend on the island
I like all of Devin's videos, but his profiles of different geographic places are the best best and most powerful. Very well done!
Devin - You are my hero. That is pure beauty on my scream, with this music I am really touched. I have 1 question - what program You use to create movies ? So nice contrast and colors ...
Who else tried playing this with the original sound track Devin used?
+Alexander Allen yeah i just did
+Alexander Allen this video is mindblowing with "Time" from the Inception soundtrack. You can feel that Devin originally edited it to this sound.
I just had too comment, this video made my eyes water, along with a couple other of your videos. Your videos remind me that their is still beauty in this world apart from all the hatred that humans have. Your an amazing camera man, and your videos are breathtaking, keep doing what your doing, it makes me happy and i'm positive it makes a-lot of other people happy as well. Lots of love bro.
This is the video that made my decision to travel to the island for a vacation and was probably the craziest and most memorable experience of my life.
Where did you go? My wife and I stuck trying to decide where to go for our anniversary. We have 4 days. Live near Vancouver. Trying to decide between Oregon or Vancouver Island. We have never been to the west side of Vancouver island. Everyone says we need to see Tofino. This was shot south of there.
Any ideas would be a great help
Thanks
jonceballos Well I was travelling on foot so I didn't see the west end either, but from what I hear its incredible. I was in nanaimo and voctoria . nanaimo was beautiful. People told me to travel to tofino as well but its just beaches there apparently. I'd recommend doing some reading, there are different things to do depending on what part of the island you're on. Lots of activities.
Laszlo Vajda Nanaimo resident here. Come visit again!
Skeletor Jopko I plan on doing so soon! It was so nice there, you're lucky. I got to the top of Mt Benson, if you know which one I'm talking about, it's a relatively popular spot to swim and camp.
Laszlo Vajda You can't live in Nanaimo and not know Mt. Benson; it overlooks the whole city! I hike to the summit at least twice a year. :)
Can't swim there, though, unless you mean Westwood Lake, which is about 1/5 of the way up the mountain. Beautiful spot.
Best family vacation ever! No cell phones or electronics just The beauty of Canada and family.

Photography is truth. Cinema is truth 24 times per second. - Jean-Luc Godard
You sir capture truth. You capture beauty. You are able to share both of these at the same time in cinematographic compilations in under five minutes.
I, Sir, Applaud you.
Canada, my country ♡
Absolutely, and thank goodness! It keeps talented filmmakers like this guy and artists everywhere employed, pouring stuff out. We're all living in the same world, but some of us see it differently.
Beautiful! This makes me want to get on a plane and go somewhere!
Vancouver Island is one of my favourite places on the planet and you've more than done it justice. Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!
You captured the essence of life for those who live on and enjoy Vancouver Island perfectly. I used to live there and this video made me very nostalgic. Very well done. Thank You.
Watched in 10080p, i watch this before i go to bed all the time. puts me in a relaxation state of mind for a good nights sleep. Thank you i really enjoy your videos keep up the good work.
Damon cinematography 🖤🖤.
Loved it. Inshallah one day i will🖤🖤
there is no reason to dislike this video. when you watch this, you see (1) a good camera, (2) the wonders of nature and (3) the heart of the person behind the lens.
Thank-you for doing this beautiful film and showing natural and true beauty of nature. Wonderful reminder that I do live in a beautiful Provence.
your work is absolutely phenomenal. I want you to know that watching your videos make people very happy and grateful to be alive, so thank you :)
10 years after… the same sensation…
Thanks for allowing me to relive the best vacation of my life. I felt like I was on it all over again. You are amazing!!!
Lived here my whole life and I have never realized how beautifull it was untill now
You have a gift....I have watched this start to finish 10 times!
I absolutely love living on vancouver island. You just made me fall in ,love with it all over again.
And that's how it all started... great video!!
Amazing video Devin, you're an inspiration really, if you could give me some advice i'd appreciate it, sometimes i feel frustrated because i'm still in college and i barely have the time to go out and film stuff, how and what did you do during your college time? Cheers from Mexico :)
The shots were amazing and the music added the right touch
what kind of lenses did you use?? what application did you use for post production? can you also tell me a lil about the video settings for the 5d mark ii that you used?
is this Vancouver ISLAND or Vancouver because i saw bits of Victoria(where I live) but in the description he says Vancouver?
+Zara Chaudhry I think he just forgot to put "Island" at the end. Barkley Sound, where he says he filmed most of this, is on the east coast of the Island, kinda near Tofino. It would take at least 4 hours to drive there from Vic.
This video never gets old.
Whose here in 2020? 😊
Very GOOD !
Super belle image :) OO
OMG, you're in Vancouver Island?? Come to Vancouver!! You're my inspiration!
the music brings tears to my eyes
Devin;
You have huge, huge things in your future man. As a photographer and aspiring filmmaker myself, I have to say, your work is the most inspiring of anything I have seen. Especially since I live on Vancouver island (moved here from the prairies to pursue my craft) and everything in this video is right in my back yard. Amazing.
Cheers man. You have a new fan!
Robb McCaghren
i wanna cry watching this, idk
could you please film some horses? these wonderful creatures would be so nice in your videos and the way you deeing :D
eding*
The productions of Team Supertram - Devinsupertramp - are visually and musically inspiring. For the life of me I don't understand why Nat Geo or an equivalent hasn't given a show.
Keep up the great work.....a fellow traveler.
Damn. I'm from WA State in the USA. I now live in Japan. Watching this made me miss the gorgeous playground that is the Paciffic NW. Cheers friend.
One of my favorite places in the world and you just did a stellar job with showing off many of the best things on Vancouver Island. Outstanding.
i'm also gonna guess that the 5D MKII is likely the more future proof one? seeing as obviously its full frame so true 1080p in 35mm format rather than 1.6x crop :) sadly, where i live, alot of clients are assholes and judge you on your kit not your skills, they assume if you own a 7d or 5d you're amazing, so the move up from my t2i is partly because i need to, i want to and because getting hired requires me too. The only problem, as i stated in the other comment is acquiring L glass :(
yeah the whole money thing is whats making it hard to choose, now i already own a glidecam 2000 for my 550D/t2i, and i have a velbon dv-7000 tripod, dslr bag, 126 led camera light...etc. Its just i dont know if come january i can afford any L glass :( if i got the 5D i'd have to settle with a 50mm f/1.8 and 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM EF lens. Each choice has their benefits, making a logical decision is the hard part... :/
I grew up on Vancouver island - specifically, Hammond Bay Road, in Vancouver. When I stumbled across this video, all of the childhood wonderment I remember while growing up there flooded back - the old-growth forest, the tide pools, the lighthouse. And if I remember correctly, you showed Piper's Lagoon? I grew up a short walk from there; there was a little island that was cut off from the main land at high tide. I remember getting stuck out there once when I was very young.
I usually don't watch things like this, but i randomly clicked on one of your videos on the front page and then i just started watching one after another of your videos.
I have got to say, that these videos are really beautiful and amazingly put together, i can't even imagine how much effort you have put into it. Respect to you sir for following your passion, it's simply amazing to see such passion and effort turn into a hobby, creating so calming and beautiful to watch
HowLongDoesEditingTake?
you're videos are soo good man! you must have so much fun making them and going to all these beautiful places xD
This is far and away one of my favorite RUclips videos. As a filmmaker, I really hope I get to work with you one day. And your musician friend is just as talented as yourself. Well done, guys. This video has inspired me to write that one story the soul needs to share with the world. Be well, and keep up the good work.
Saw that "Inception" was in the title, read the description, literally heard only the first note of the song in the video, and realized you must have had "Time" as the original song, so I went to my Inception soundtrack on my itunes, synced it perfectly, and listened to it that way to see your original vision
Fantastic looking, hard to beleive it's a 'still camera'. I've alway been annoyed by the "AVCHD Stutter" in consumer grade cameras like the Flip and even my Nikon 8100. Your Canon seems to not have that, or just a tiny amount here and there. Of course, it's a bit pricey. Excellent footage, I can't believe you're not working on national commercials or films.
Most DSLR housings are very durable with weather. They're not waterproof. But they can take a lot of water. Check out Canon "7D - Hardcore Durability Test" by digitalrevcom on youtube. He proofs that the housing, especially on 7D is very durable. Hopes this helps. Read the info about your own camera
at 2:24 with the light house how do you get the camera to focus on one this and then focus on the background?
I was relaxing in the pool with my girlfriend and we listend to this while relaxing and it was like the perfect moment. Thank you so much for this awsome video and awsome music. Please keep making these outstanding looking and sounding videos.
-Alex
how come this video has only 460 likes? its 10 times better then most video's on youtube... really dude, these movies of you make me feel good. when i'm in depressed mode, i watch one of your movies...
plz keep up this great work, your an artist 1st class!
Absoloutely stunning man! Hey, your friend composed this you say, im hoping to create a short film by christmas and was looking for suiting music, could you possibly ask him if i could use this song- it fits perfectly.
Thanks for this amazing video
I love the perspectives of your camera shots and angles. It feels like the kind of things we see, but don't usually register in our mind... like these are the things we see subconsciously with our other senses put into video.
amazing to see such passion and effort put into a hobby, creating so camling and beautiful videos to watch*
I ran out of space on the last sentense, which was why i had to delete the spaces.
Im 16 and im just sitting here thinking to myself how much it sucks that i have to work probably the rest of my life instead of enjoying life and places like this in the world :/
3:02... i imagine going to that place Calm and Blue, Listening this soundtrack that is similar to Lost. Going slow thinking about life, a simple smile rises. Beautiful.
upgrading from my 550D soon to either a 7D or a 5D MKII and dude you're totally selling the 5D to me on this vid! very very very superb shots dude! amazing!
You, my friend, know how to produce! Your angles, your clip selection, your theme music. Well done! btw, excellent way of showing Canada on RUclips!
This is the 4th video I watched from you, and I have to say... I love music combined with the video...It's seriously inspiring and it get's to you.
Very well done and the music matches perfectly!
Absolutely stunning. I'm from the island and I miss is SO much. Seeing this put the hugest smile on my face. Thank you for sharing :)
Wow, I recognize quite a few of these places. I'm so lucky to live on the island. This video made me apprieciate it even more.
There are some shots in this of which the BBC and Attenborough would be proud. Such a great video and I love the score too!
so yea, ur gonna have a really really good job in ur future. cinematographer or producer or somethin man. good stuff.

..... in a perfect world.......
Oh my god! Fuckin nice quality! And did you use this specification? : Canon EOS 5D Mark II Kit EF 24-105 mm?
I LIVE in canada. and even i don't see how you could make such a beautiful video in canada. it's amazeballz
This is easily one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen on RUclips.
Congratulations, and respect.
Your videos have defined my bucket list. Now make my life better and keep producing videos like this.
British Columbia has some of the most beautiful forests. Howeeeever, you should come to Nova Scotia :)
Are you a photographer/videographer by profession, or is this just a hobby?
How are the colours in his videos always so amazing yet so clean? Is it the lenses or good post?
Where can i download the this movie? ? Not from youtube, but the original. Any download link? thx
Wonderful Pictures, great video! Thanks for sharing..
Greetings,
Blarksel
Hi) I think you've heard this question, but I want to know - at 4:14 seconds are your parents?
Wonderful untouched
paradise i love it!
sir one word to describe everything.... AWESOME!!!!!!!
I'm sorry, did not read the description of the video. You and your father are very similar!
I know you have probably answered this before, but what editing software do you use? Thanks
@VegardStenvik focus doesnt matter too much if you are shooting at f/22
When are you going to become a youtube partner man? You have great work
"Time" by Hans Zimmer was the original song on this, I can tell within the first 4 seconds
how much is slowmo edit important for video like this, basically landscape vdography dev?
so can I get the same smoothness in the video if I use one of those steadicam pod things?
do you use anything to stablize the camera? Also what lens was being used? This is amazing
I want Devin to be my cinematographer at my wedding.
As soon as I get out of college.
I can only dream this will be the life I'll be living.
It looks really good on my TV. I hooked it up with HDMI and it looks amazing!!!! Try it.
if you noticed every scene is full of bright colours which shows the beauty of nature.
And a legend was born!
I have the canon 7D and its a great camera, video modes are easy and take less of a learning curve than the 5D... but the 5D has that super awesome full frame and once you go full frame, theres no going back. Its so much better for video, however for the same price of the 5D markIII, you can pick up a 7D with some extra bateries, 10-20mm sigma lense, compact flash card, and a glidecam HD 2000. So the price diffrence was the selling point for me but I do ever so much want the 5D!!
Is it just me or is it that videos like these make you want to remember everything, know everybody ever. They make you wonder why you are here, where you live why you know the people you know, why you? It makes you want to know everything about everyone and you want everyone to know your life story. They make you want to go back and do it all over again... everything. They make you want to know all the crazy shit the people on this channel have done/ plan on doing. Is it just me?
@ish....dont listen to these people saying its dreaming and what not. no offense those who beloeve that. i live here in washington and i travel up to v. island often to see my gf. at first its a spendy trip (passport, transportation...ect). then you get to know the people....that makes a difference all together right there. you can rent canoes and what not to do that. it comes down to if you want to or not. get out there and see it before its gone.
Wow Devin, I really like your videos. I stumbled on your epic swing video by chance and liked it so much I started watching the rest of the videos you have on your channel. When I reached this point I felt the need to write this comment. It goes without saying, that I have subscribed to your channel. I feel you are capturing on film the fleeting glimpses of heaven we can get while we are in this world. Thank you. May God bless you and your work.
I love your videos, they're really beautiful and well made! As feedback I'd just like to say that to me many of them feel a little too long. It starts out well, you build up to a point where they feel awesome, but then they continue to a point where I personally feel that I've gotten too much of all the beauty and fairly similar clips. As a subscriber I do love the vids, they look simply stunning, and I feel they would be even better if you cut them down a little. Keep them coming!
Wow. Beautiful work, Devin. I have a question for you... it seems that a lot of the shots were shot at greater than 1/50 (180 degrees) shutter. Were you shooting 24p or 30p? It looks 24 to me but rarely in your shots does it look like 24p motion blur. Most pros would frown upon anything but 180 degree shutter, but I started to think you did this on purpose for the enhanced sharpness and detail. It does do wonder for the images of beautiful nature - was this done on purpose? Thnx in advance
