i think Kira's shikai would make your opponent slower or any other type of debuff. could be a poison type curse too like the more hits you take the damage multiplies thats the only thing i could think of and i think Shinji's shikai would either reverse your opponents controls or maybe split the whole fucking screen view upside down lol. damn this is hype
I think Kira is the easiest to translate actually, they will probably give him the Sub Zero, Raiden or Geras special, where he can "stun" an opponent and "lock" them in place for a set amount of seconds or just long enough to do a combo. He hits you with Shikai and your character gets statued, he can then do a combo off that. If Zommari is in this game, I think he'll also have that game mechanic. Soi Fon is the trickiest to pull off in my opinion, does her Shikai automatically remove a set number of Health bars with just two hits?(which I'm assuming will just be a special)
We've seen how that second thing worked with fighterZ and it doesn't work to well as far as being considered balanced. Everyone in this game though IS balanced and becomes broken more and more as the fight goes
Mirror matches of kenpachi are gonna be one of two things, a potemkin mirror match where they just stare at eachother the entire time or the exact same potemkin mirror match where they be monkey and spam random inputs until one of them win
kenpachi was top tier in blade of fate and got nerfed hard in dark souls. Theres no decent tier list for heat the soul 7 but the only community tier list i saw had him A tier. We will see how good he is in this. Toshiro was top tier in dark souls, high tier in hts7. gin was low tier in both. But this is the game that matters. you don't want your fave being trash in the first bleach game in 14 years.
Ok, this is day 1 buy for me. Not since Strive was I this hyped up for a fighting game. They had me with Yoruichi but Kenpachi is definitely going to be tested.
After Jump Force I feel like this will be the game that brings me back to the fighting game genre. Holy shit I get so hyped when I see clips of this game!
Guilty gear already did that. Strive has maintained a 20k-30k active playerbase since its release, which is unheard of. The next 2 closest in terms of player retention are tekken and smash melee, and, i dunno where tekken sits, but melee still only has around 8k active players. For comparison, if you look at older games with good netcode, youd be lucky to find 200 players/game, with many not even having enough to create a tournament setting.
Remeber this games covers the entire arrancar saga they have not shown any arranncar or YAMAMOTO. They might adapt full bring too and ginjo is far too broken in lore. If they have fullbring ichigo then it's ginjo vs ichigo the meta.
Kenpachi seems to be an actual Berserker Archetype - relentless offense and any possible defense is based completely on further pushing THROUGH an enemies offense instead of sneaking into openings. This makes him basically a counter against normal Rushdown Archetypes, but if there are any Grapplers or Zoners, they are likely to be VERY good at countering him. hitsugaya looks like a combination of Rushdown and counter - super technical and requires proper setup and mixup, in exchange for being absolutely devastating once you get the timings of his attacks down. Sounds in character. Gin.... well Gin is close to the same as he was in the 2D Fighters, fast but weak basics to build up his specials quickly, followed by Zoner-esque special moves with a built-in counter, basically allowing him to play fast and loose with his range (long range specials against Zoners/long range characters, Counter Windows on his specials against Melee characters). In other words he heavily relies on mindgaming for his gameplay... which is totally in-character.
I hope they have a Nomu archetype where they take a literal brick of a character and give them the most ungodly vocals known to man while making their moveset entirely centered on spinning

a fighting game equivalent to Toshiro's meter is Labrys' axe from Persona 4 Arena. The more you attack/more momentum you have the stronger your attacks become. Gray > Blue > Green > Yellow > Red in ascending order of strength.
his archetype would be called a bruiser, they generally have a lot of hp/defense while also being able to dish out damage at the cost of usually having to take attacks before getting one off. Most likely in testing kenpachi didnt have point guard and he ended up just getting snowballed by hyper aggressive characters.
He's either a rushdown or a punish character. Punish in an archetype that's as rare as the demon archetype. The only punish characters that I can think of are Marisa in Street fighter 6 and Setsuka in Soulcalibur 6.

This is just a grappler. Gardbreaks and grabs are kinda interchangeable 99% of the time. With the plus on block bulling thing id call that a brawler or harrasser element similar to sols fs or Bedman's 4B9 (malfunction.)
i mean-that's literally a berserker archetype character; like.. an actual true berserker-Asura and Painwheel are a bit similar in a way, though not in the same way as this Kenpachi

I think it kinda helps to have archetypes so there’s some form of grounding for people to comprehend what they’re going. Arakune is a fantastic character, but it’d be hard to get into fighting games if everyone was as weird as him. I have a general feel, personally, like “I want to fill the screen with a beautiful display of magical bullets,” so naturally someone who plays like Nine or Asuka (despite their vastly different pla styles) appeals to me. Some people are all like “yo gimme someone who can Pot Buster people for half a health bar,,” and tons of games have that character nowadays.

You're talking about character design and appearance, while I mean something more like say a fighting game where you don't need to make a designated, rehearsed combo in order to be successful against a pro. Like the difference between smash and Tekken for example. Smash is all about reacting on the spot towards whatever direction your opponent is at, versus Tekken against pros, where the only way to win is by waiting for an opening or creating it and then punishing them with a rehearsed combo... which in my opinion is quite annoying because it takes away the Player's ability to craft their own combo or fighting style regardless of character. Instead, you have tutorials in some of these games that tell you exactly how to perform the combo with the most damage or What have you, and because of it most high level player's playstyles starts to look the same or very similar. I'd rather keep things fresh and keep the opponent guessing than boil everything down to a game of rock paper scissors. I'd rather make a game where you can just make up your own combo string, or some game were the physics engine take the spotlight so much so that you would have to readjust the way you play depending on how the intricate physics system reacts to your inputs.

There are certainly video game genre that thrive on people having no clue what to expect for anything, but fighting games are not among them.
@@Metal_Sign-Friday_Patchouli Well but we're talking about different things. You're talking about character design and appearance, while I mean something more like say a fighting game where you don't need to make a designated, rehearsed combo in order to be successful against a pro. Like the difference between smash and Tekken for example. Smash is all about reacting on the spot towards whatever direction your opponent is at, versus Tekken against pros, where the only way to win is by waiting for an opening or creating it and then punishing them with a rehearsed combo... which in my opinion is quite annoying because it takes away the Player's ability to craft their own combo or fighting style regardless of character.
Instead, you have tutorials in some of these games that tell you exactly how to perform the combo with the most damage or What have you, and because of it most high level player's playstyles starts to look the same or very similar. I'd rather keep things fresh and keep the opponent guessing than boil everything down to a game of rock paper scissors.
I'd rather make a game where you can just make up your own combo string, or some game were the physics engine take the spotlight so much so that you would have to readjust the way you play depending on how the intricate physics system reacts to your inputs.
