Cool classic coach being driven along Morecambe's seafront last year

Had many school trips on those coaches. Seats were like sitting in a crate after a while

If I ever go from Oxford to Carlisle on a National Express coach then I would love to have one of these instead of a modern coach 😍😍😍!!!

Just think 45 years ago they would have been a common sight trundling up and down the esplanade on the way to the national coach park. We have lost so much character.

    Very nicely driven.

It was good to see the gearbox being used properly. When I was driving these in service, I saw many drivers just slamming through without a care in the world. It always really annoyed me. However, observation could have been better. Although the driver reacted to events ahead, use of mirrors was a little weak especially when approaching hazards. Having said that, the drive looked very progressive and smooth.

@@stevesales4263 When I think back to the 1980s when Leopards were the mainstay of our National Express services, I can recall several of our drivers who habitually used to change from 4th to top gear at around 50mph without letting up, simply because the gap in gear ratios was large and they didn't want to lose any momentum! Interestingly I never saw this behaviour amongst local independent operators of Leopards (eg OK Motor Services) which made me think that if we allocated the same vehicles to the same drivers, they might've taken greater care.

@@Neash2 It really frustrated me. It was just lazy, incompetent and uncaring. A total lack of pride in their job.

Lovely! Driven nicely, great job with the restoration and sounds great! I couldn't work out the location but read a comment that it's at Morecambe?

Brings back many pleasant memories travelling from Coventry to London on National Express. Where was this filmed? Looks like a coastal town.

It's that jewel of the northwest, Morecambe!

Can anybody help me answer a question, In cumbria (Wigton to be exact) a bloke called Gerald walker owned tower coaches, a small company of old Leyland buses in grey and navy blue livery , in primary school they used to hire them for school trips and secondary school he used to do some of the school runs and collage runs frm the school on Fridays. This would have been between 1990 and 2001 when I left school. Companies House says everyone resigned not too long later, but he was getting on then, I just wondered if anyone knew where his buses went and if he stopped operating as he only ran older buses that I gather are no longer allowed to be used for public transport for some stupid reason?
