Jazz will never die. It had its time sure, but its like almost every genre of music it will be keep in the archives till one day it will be pulled out again. Also jazz is now interpreted in many different ways from what people consider “pure jazz”. But yes I do agree that laufey is keeping jazz alive and yes i too do love her :))

Jazz has never really been dead, it's always been evolving into new styles and revolutionizing the art of improvisatoin. I reccomend you look up about the "post-bop" style of jazz and a great album for beginners is Art Hirahara - Open Sky which just released like last month

I never expected to hear a new singer who sounds like she would fit just right in the era of 50’s cool jazz singers in the year 2021. It’s honestly incredible and it makes me happy not just instrumental wise but her voice style it’s so Ella Fitzgerald like (she is scatting dude that is so awesome i haven’t heard a recent singer do anything like that in so long) overall I’m impressed and that’s not mentioning her technical ability with her voice all the Voicings she’s doing are very well placed with the chords in the piano being placed. this is one of my favorite songs because I feel like it describes me as an hopeless romantic who reads, there's a part of this song that really relates to me that being ("Maybe I'm just old-fashioned, read too many fairytales, it's no wonder I've had no luck, no one's ever good enough, I want a love like I've seen in the movies, that's why I'll never fall in love") i also love the voice of laufey and how magic and wonderful she makes the song, the jazz being present in the song only makes me feel like I'm in 1920s, being "old fashioned" and reading in a bookstore while it's raining outside.
