Such a simple but effective technique to add colourful design to slabs. So many possible uses...best return on time invested of any video I’ve seen yet! Thank you for sharing your no nonsense practical tips.
good to someone else using a kick wheel. I started throwing about 4 years ago @ a community college and was the only person to use the kick wheel they had. I know no one personally to use the kick wheel for throwing. They are offer much more control than electric. Great video btw.
Thank you Mitch I very much enjoyed this video although a finished product would have been even better,,, now I'm quite curious as to how the piece turned out after being fired. Would you please consider doing that on some of your up and coming videos?
I really enjoyed watching you use this technique. Thank you so much for sharing it. What is the pastels? Is it dried color clay, made into chalk and ground up? Just curious. Thanks!
I really like the techniques you have demonstrated... please show more what is the difference between colored clay or musing some slip thru the clay? Thank You

could anybody help me about what kind of color he uses on newsprint? and how he apply it couse color leaves the newsprint completely? and 3. could I use this teq. on ceramic clay or if I'm going to use it on ceramics what kind of color should I use?
Eli music, The color I use on newsprint is a porcelain slip mixed with Mason Stains. I use lots of teqs. including brushing on the slip onto newsprint. About 90% of the slip is transfered to the slab. Of course you can use it on any kind of clay. I use a stoneware clay with porcelain slips. Mitch Lyons I have a DVD for sale that explains all of the transfer teqs.
KenDano, I am using a cone 10 stoneware clay and adding a porcelain slip mixed with Mason Stains. I do not use glazes. I fire my work in a salt kiln. I do have a DVD Handbuilding With Mitch Lyons for sale. Mitch
Mitch Lyons let me ask you, I'm using Opal clay, how can I create a colour slip that can go onto the wet opal and then into a bisque ? thanks for the reply Mitch. I love your ideas,

@mitchlyons1
KenDano,
I am using a cone 10 stoneware clay and adding a porcelain slip mixed with
Mason Stains. I do not use glazes. I fire my work in a salt kiln.

KenDano,
Get yourself a blender and add the Opal clay and water till you have a slip. Add
Mason stains to the Opal slip to get colored slip.
Mitch
He doe's not show the finist pice after frieing .
Exactly. We have no idea what it looks like.
While the design techniques were interesting, the title is misleading. There was nothing about hand building without a seam in this video!
Did you see a seam in that wedding piece? Normally with slab building, there would be a seam. Maybe you don't understand hand building.
Sweet!
This gives me Bob Ross energy!
would have liked to see the finished product fired!!!
awesome... post more videos... p-l-e-a-s-e
