    • @MrOrcshaman
      @MrOrcshaman 3 года назад +38

      @@imamuggle03 the simple fact of the matter is this, the natural order of things, as we can observe in the animals kingdom, is that there are 2 genders, and within those animal societies, the genders are genetically pre set in such a way. With lions it's the males who fight off other males, so he can claim a group of females as his own, same with gorillas. Within insects and fish the females are often far larger and might even eat the males after mating.
      The point is the natural order has genders biologically set as they are. Human societies have been built around the biological nature of humankind since man walked upright.
      Now because of the nature of human beings, we have a huge cluster of concepts within our society we have gathered and made part of our systems, so alternate concepts to what someone identifies as is based simply not on genetics but on psychological befuddlement, what feels normal to one person is abnormal to another. So people look for ways to change themselves in what they think will make them happy.
      This however doesn't change the basis of genetics or functions of our society, it becomes more about satisfying that placebo rather then accepting whatever abnormality you might have in your head for what it is.

I didn't want to play with barbies and wear dresses. If I had adults telling me I could actually BE a boy, wow! I would be a boy today. THANK God that did not happen. Hit 15, turns out I’m a stunner. Suddenly, being a girl was awesome. I started washing my hair, taking baths. Grew to about 5ft 4. Stopped traffic. That’s my story. It’s actually patronizing, and insulting to the person placing these demands. How does it help a person to believe the key to their fulfillment, self acceptance, and ability to be successful, lies in the hands of someone else’s choices? A person can influence these things temporarily, of course, but not permanently. Maybe we are supposed to learn and grow from the experience of being rejected by society in all the multitude of ways, we ALL experience. At school being bullied, in our careers when we lose a job, or the betrayal by a loved one, in these ways we are meant, not to become helpless to the extent that we can become delusional in our expectations of others, to sort of, “fix” our pain, but, rather, to make better choices about the next job we take, or the next partner we choose, or the school we choose for our own child, or as a teacher in the way we will notice when a child is in pain.

      But no one here is advocating for prejudice, hatred, violence or is even being mean for that matter. Quite the contrary. The desire to “not lie” to people about biological reality, while at the same time acknowledging their inner conflict, is actually motivated by a desire to be kind.
      She’s sharing her opinion based on her knowledge of biology and personal experience. The guys are sharing their opinions and asking questions, and I chimed in to say I agree that it is well-meaning but not helpful to tell people what they want to hear rather than the truth. We can debate about what the truth is, I suppose, but you can hardly make a case that wanting people to know it is an act of hatred. Anyway, that’s not my own motivation.

      I believe they covet, desire and ultimately despise what women have. The hatred towards females from these people is all too evident. Yeah it's an interesting debate, and I find Debbie has some nuanced and fresh opinions, and yet some of her views don't seem based on facts. Good example being about women's spaces. She asserts that men are trying to encroach on those women's spaces, yet its been women wishing to encroach into 'traditionally' male spaces that has, rightly or wrongly, caused friction to one degree or another. And she says she feels safer acting as a man on the street, when statistically speaking men are way more likely to be subject to serious violent crime on the street than women are. Crime stats show us this to be true. I got the impression, maybe wrongly, that Debbie has an unfounded low opinion of maleness and masculinity, as evidenced in her reference to the 'gender power struggle', which could perhaps be her reason for, at least in part, to want to disassociate from being a visible man.

    • @adlernewman
      @adlernewman 3 года назад +13

      @@johnjohnston8590 Well, what you're saying is true, but the issue of safety is much more important for women in a sense that as a female I am more likely to be seriously harmed or killed if attacked by a man. Biology is a bitch. The only reason, statistically, more males are attacked, is because... they are attacked by other men, who, on average show more tendency to be aggressive and violent than women. If two guys disagree, the possibility of a fight is not far away. As to Debbie's reasons for dissociation from masculinity, I have no idea. People think in mysterious ways. What is important, though, Debbie accepts she's really a biological man, thus not denying reality.

    • @SarahWillans
      @SarahWillans 3 года назад

      @@haytond Yes, I'd guess that men generally are more likely to be involved in violence than women, not least because they are more likely to respond physically to a perceived threat or challenge while women on the whole avoid confrontation as far as possible. In fact, most women go to a good deal of trouble to avoid situations that involve risk of physical assault, partly because we are continually exhorted to do just that. Perhaps when women are victims of violence, it's more likely that they've been attacked for some reason involving sexual assault, domestic violence, mugging, etc., than that they have initiated or participated in a confrontation that becomes physical, while men are perhaps more likely to simply get into a fight with other men (obviously men are also subject to random attacks and domestic and sexual violence, so this is in addition to that risk). And the phrase 'victim of physical violent crime' presumably just means that someone was charged for injuring that individual, so includes those who are hurt in gang fights, drunken brawls, and other incidents where men are far more likely to be involved than women and where we are less likely to consider the injured party a 'victim' in the normal sense of the word, and so might imagine are excluded from this statistic. But I don't know whether stats are available with that kind of detail.

    I've never had a s3xual attraction to anybody. I like being alone and I'm generally pretty repulsed by the idea of s3x or s3xual contact. That's not to say I hate people. I have plenty of friends and I'm close to my family, but at the end of the day I like to go home by myself. I've never felt a romantic or s3xal attraction to anyone, and because of that all throughout my high school years people thought I was gay and in denial. That rumor, however, never bothered me, because there's nothing wrong with being gay and I knew I wasn't attracted to women. Years later, someone told me I was asexual, which as a descriptor sounds about right. That said, I don't identify as asexual because, as Debbie said, it really doesn't matter. I don't need people to know I'm asexual, and quite frankly it's none of their business. I don't need to be categorized to live however I want. I admit it's a bit annoying sometimes when people suggest there's something wrong with me or that I'm selfish because I don't want a relationship, but it still doesn't change the fact that I am who I am and I'm happy.

There is truth in both of those statements. I will be sharing this interview as you make so many thorny issues crystal clear for people who are just trying to get their heads round a concept which is very new to them. So many potential “ allies” are lost because they have been bullied for making a mistake over pronouns or new concepts. So many older people are just getting their heads round gay marriage!🙂 To be told that a self identifying man is a woman and that it is now socially unacceptable to deny the scientific inaccuracy of this statement , is bewildering to many people . I don’t think there was one thing you said that I couldn’t understand or that I disagreed with. Hurrah for you Debbie!

      My comment was meant for the 70+ new pronouns and different gender identities (maybe more, I stopped counting). There is a point, when trying to stick a label everything on the spectrum starts to defeat the purpose. It is a spectrum for a reason. There will always be people who do not fit into any of the categories. Do we just keep on inventing new labels?
