One small problem: I cant see how China will somehow recover and be able to unitedly fight back against the soviets from that many nukes being dropped on them.
@@oldchannelnotusedanymore Yea, but that's still like 200 million people (not counting the fallout)and most of the CCP gone, even if Mao survived China will collapse in an instant
So I’m trying to figure out, by the time of the end of the video Soviet strategic forces would have been heavily attrited and focused on the Far East. I’m assuming that US-NATO launches a first strike, but I doubt the world will end. Even in our timeline, the US maintained nuclear superiority well into the 70s. Accounting for the likely hyperinflation of the US nuclear forces following the outburst of the conflict and the depletion of Soviet arsenals alongside their lack of readiness against the West, I’d estimate the first strike would be highly successful. At most, probably around 1,000 warheads would be launched at the West. It would be debilitating but not apocalyptic, while the Soviet Union would be totally annihilated. If anything, having the world end seems unrealistic even in this scenario.
Good to see your upload again! Would've been great to see next part of Postap Asia at last. Would've been perfect if it was in old style (since it is way more readable , enjoyable , and you could actually hear the music without pausing every 5-10 seconds) , but this may be too much to ask for and I would watch it either way
Oh noted! I guess the original editing style had its merits in some ways, I do want to continue the post apocalyptic series, but I'm very impulsive and new ideas just interest me much more. As these videos are very demanding to make, so I do want to have fun making them as well :)
@@TheZhuangziAcademyAlso one more question. What does the Chinese newspaper say when the entirety of China is nuked at around the end of the video? It's in Chinese.
This scenario is extremely unrealistic, here is why: 1. China would completely collapse from the initial onslaught. Their cities, industry, infrastructure, logistic centers and military bases would be annihilated, rendering china unable to hold itself together, let alone defend itself against the militarily superior russians. 2. Chinese civillian casualties would be WAY higher. ITL, China would lose AT LEAST 75 million chinese from the initial onslaught ITSELF. In 1960's, vast majority of china's population lived in the countryside, where there were no fallout shelters. this means that between 100 to 200 million chinese would die from the fallout and radioactive poisoning. However, most people would die from the nuclear winter and famine. ITL, the nuking happened at the beginning of the harvest season. what do i mean by that, is that with crops contaminated by the fallout in the first few months after the nuking, and then decimated as the nuking and fallout destroyed the fertile soil, the chinese populace across the nation would be unable to harvest the crops in the years following the nuking, leading to pretty much the deadliest famine humanity has ever seen, far deadlier than the great leap forward. At least 200 million chinese would die from it. In conclusion, china would lose from 400 to 475 million of their citizens. the population of china was 796 million at that time, meaning that china would lose more than half of it's population. 3. There's no way in hell that russia and brezhnew will get away with it. pretty much the entire world will be engulfed in the fallout, leading to the UN taking actions against russia. and with the harrowing consequences of this war exposed, russia would pretty much become a pariah state, get kicked out from UN, and get sanctioned and embargoed to oblivion. The UN would also do everything in it's power to help the chinese. 4. China would be unable to conscript 15 million soliders into the war due to reasons i mentioned in the first point. 5. There would be no casual tactical and carpet nuking. Not only is that the russians would rather resort to napalm and chemical carpet bombing if they would encounter strong resistance, but also because they wouldn't want to waste nukes. Russians would rather resort to tactical nuking if either the war was dragging on for too long, or if they would start getting pushed back. They would resort to carpet nuking ONLY if they were near defeat (which they wouldn't be). 6. Rather than the war ending in a worldwide nuclear war and everyone losing, this war would end up in a draw. Russians would be unable to push any further due to nuclear winter, terrible logistics and scarce resources, whereas china would be unable to push back due to reasons i mentioned in the first point. Either way, the war would end quietly, without a truce nor a peace treaty. China would end up completely breaking down and falling into anarchy, whereas the Soviet Union would incorporate territories north of Yangtze river (except west Hubei, Sichuan, south Shanxi, Quinghai and Tibet) and turn it into a another SSR.
may i ask where you get your maps from? (in case i ever want to do random things with maps too) also keep up the work, these videos are like a breath of fresh air compared to other types of alt history videos
I know you already have a project in mind for a new video but I was wondering if you would like an idea in the near future that came to mind while reading a post on quora: China in the young Ming dynasty prospers with the jianwen emperor in command of the empire, but in the late 14th century the Timurid empire commanded by tamerlane who has the aspiration to control the Ming dynasty and does not want to pay tribute to the emperor , so Tamerlane starts gathering resources by plundering Indian cities and seeking cooperation with the Northen Yuan Dynasty (successfully)! In late summer 1399, Tamerlane, seeing China fighting against the Yongle Emperor's Jingnan Rebellion, gave up attacking the Ottoman Empire and decided to raise an army of 130,000-150,000 troops accompanied by the allied Northern Yuan Dynasty with 35,000-40,000 cavalry troops with which he will relieve some Manchurian loyalists with him. Thanks for reading it, in any case if you don't like it tell me that I also have other ideas to do.
One problem is that NATO would have annihilated the USSR whilst the Soviets could only launch limited strikes at that point. Much of their arsenal was used on the Chinese.
2:21 Meaning of the poem in the Chinese News section Yao and Shun resisted, and the sky was thin. The jealousy of the slanderers has given them the false name of unkindness. I hate the beauty of pleasure, but I love the happiness of a good wife. People are practicing impatiently and the sun is advancing, and the beauty is beyond the distance and beyond the strides.
I think a remake of this should have a more realistic ending where the Soviet nuking of China immediately sends China into a not so messy warlord era while the ROC supported by the US and other pro-US nations rebel within the PRC and also launch multiple amphibious invasions. And at the same time which you did in the video the Soviets would launch an invasion through Xinjiang and Manchuria. Basically ending in a joint invasion. The country may be divided along the Yangtze river or higher up at the borders of Xinjiang, Manchuria, and Inner Mongolia. With this we could see a Manchurian Soviet Republic, an East Turkestan Soviet Republic, and possibly have Inner Mongolia merging with Mongolia itself eventually joining the USSR. Manchuria could also be merged with the rest of Soviet occupied China as the Chinese Soviet Republic too. But I think Tibet could also gain its independence as a neutral country becoming a part of the non-aligned 3rd world bloc. Oh and for the south simply the Republic of China.
The Yangtze River cannot stop anyone. Eventually one army will rule the whole of China. Either Turkestan-China, Kuomintang KMT China(the Republic of China) or the Second Mongolian Yuan Empire or Soviet Mongolian China. In the era of cold weapons, the Yangtze River could not be used as a geographical dividing line to maintain the demarcation of the two regimes. The Mongols, the Manchus of the Qing Dynasty, the more ancient Qin Empire, the Han Empire, and the Three Kingdoms era all had an army that crossed the Yangtze River to rule the entire country. The division of national boundaries along the Yangtze River has never been able to last for more than a few decades. This was also true in the cold weapons era. In the modern firearms era, the same was true in the civil wars between the Qing Empire vs. the Taiping Rebellion and the Kuomintang vs. the Communist Party. This line of defense is too fragile.
One small problem: I cant see how China will somehow recover and be able to unitedly fight back against the soviets from that many nukes being dropped on them.
