The Shadow scared the hell out of me as my a-h brother and I listened. It gave me nightmares!

The soundtrack credits Orson Welles as The Shadow on this track, but Welles never did the famous show introduction. James La Curto and then Frank Redick had been the voice of The Shadow when the character had merely been the spooky host of various Street and Smith anthology series (the first such host, predating the Mysterious Traveler, Whistler, and long before the Crypt Keeper and other TV and comic book characters). Redick's voice over was used during the year long stint of Welles, who liked the extra time this gave him to arrive at the studio. Typically Lamont Cranston/The Shadow would not appear until after the teaser, intro, and first commercial.

Stan Dale is reputed to once have done the introduction. I've heard him repeat it in person just for fun, but that was in the 1990s. Does anyone know or have a copy of him doing it? I'm guessing that he would have performed in the late '40s or early 50s, or after he returned from Korea, but before he began working at WLS in Chicago.
