Ahhh.... the delightful new things we discover every day. This reminded me of fairies, the innocence of childhood, the fields of England, a warm and cozy room....... and a summer afternoon.
My grandmother, who turns 105 next Wednesday (23-6-2021) performed in the West End production when she was about 11 years old. She talks about it everytime we mention that my daughter is about to start full-time Musical Theatre training. She still sings and recites poetry she learnt as a child.
Many thanks for this J-M! I really like the writing and a piano short score is always very interesting to follow while listening to the full orchestration,
I don't know why I remember this but in the 1960s the BBC World Service used the music from 10' 11'' to introduce the "English By Radio" programme on Sunday afternoons in Europe
'Where the rainbow ends' was an English patriotic children's play played around Christmas time and remained extremely popular throughout the 1910's, 1920's and 1930's. The play's choreographer, Italia Conti, even set up a hospital fund-raising club about December 1931 that was called the Rainbow League.
My grandma trained with Italia Conti and performed in the show in around 1928! I posted another comment about it in this thread - she will be 105 next week.
Absolutely delightful. It conjures up childhood innocence from times long gone.

Very Nice! The world needs more music like this! Thanks for sharing.
Roger quilter is a composer I’ve only just discovered and he’s becoming one of my favourites, his songs are beautiful.
Sparkling, melodic, delightful music from a neglected English composer. Very listenable!

Thanks for giving such a decent description
What a wonderful piece of music

Wow never heard of him.. Great piece with many nice suspended notes.
Just lovely. Such elegant and effortless melodic writing. Was Quilter a fan of Grieg? If so, that's no bad thing in my book!
Quilter is underrated. Very beautiful.
Nah! He is highly rated. Pay attention. Read up.
So dreamy!! 🥰

Well, this was good fun, nicely done. The performance/recording has a bit an obnoxious bassoon I think, but nevertheless enjoyable.
Ive played quilter piano etude its a nice etude, anw is this album transcripted by the composer or not?
Narnia feels
0:25 - 0:43 - 1:12
1:35 - 1:50 - 2:30

Jeah there are many things missing.. The piano score is designed for playability unfortunately. But love the piece.
