One thing when you learn the hard way you never forget the lesson. You are now an expert at diagnosing excessive upper engine knock noise over rod bearing or any bell housing sources.
Had a 307 Olds engine, choke screw fell out and went down into the #8 cylinder. Long story short, flushed it out with trans fluid.. it quit for about 5 seconds, then reappeared on the #3 cylinder, lol. Eventually fished it out with a magnet, it was a tiny flattened T shape. Engine was fine, luckily.
man I wanted a manual but I ended up with a 78 Chevy full time four wheel drive automatic. every thing electric works and it drives great. but i will never get to do a burn out on my last day of school. still sounds good.
Great to see some more content, mate and real pleased the engine wasn't as toasted as it sounded it might have been. For a quick and cheap rebuild, that engine is steady as a rock when you watch her idling and that oil pressure is nothing to sneeze at either. Anything that runs 50PSI at warm idle like yours does, is a good one.....and a puff of smoke at cold startup is just the engine having a yawn and getting ready to work. Reckon she'll pull well now you're getting full use out of every cylinder too! Well done for the great result - looking forward to more.
Lol some of the comments lead me to believe that not many people have actually seen a stock Chevy 350. They actually WERE all orange with black accessories in 1974. About 145 horsepower.
Yes first ones I've ran across that were gm corporate blue were the middle of 1977 and they weren't that common as far as the one's I've seen that were not touched until like 1978,1979-1980
10 no options except sliding rear window,350 motor,th350 long tail transmission, and the cab wrap around trim band, and my other truck was a 1974 chevy cheyenne super c10 long bed it was originally a big block truck and I eventually put a 1974 chevy 250 straight 6 with 94, miles great running motor and it had been swapped from 3 on the tree lol,to automatic without changing all of the linkage which wiped out the automatic transmission that had been swapped in it in short order so I put a small u joint big ujoint combination on the driveshaft and put a 350 yoke I had from a gm 80's model Caprice and put a Short tail th350 truck transmission from a 77 chevy g10 short wheelbase van with a shift kit in the th350 because the 74 cheyenne super had 4.56 rear gears and 31x10.50.15 mt big o mud grip tires on the rear , even the straight 6 could spin both tires up to 45mph, but still sounded like it was going to fly apart about 65 mph cause that is top end for the truck..was still running the straight 6 strong when I got rid of it although 1st gear seemed to start slipping but shifted fine if you manually shifted it.
I owned not one but 2 1974 chevy c10 long bed trucks with lower mileage one was a bondoed junker that ran ok it was a 74 chevy custom this is the top of the other comment..
Come on Cramer, dual cherry bombs will give you the biggest return on investment when u sell. Thumbs up on the engine paint scheme (late 50's simple). Ditch the old man bug shield, short bed bed rails, and vertical bumperettes. Possibly even better return on $0 investment.
Ah, shining like a diamond in a goats arse 😂 I love how you guys in America can put an old V8 back together for a few hundred bucks. You could maybe get the rod bearings for that here in Oz 😱😥
I would love to buy that truck off of you. I live in Connecticut. I have a 1983 c10, but I would want to own a 1973-1980 model year. Especially like it because it has a three on the tree.
Rockauto was selling sbc valve stem seals for $.08. I bought 16 umbrella and 16 positive lock seals thinking they were individual seals. I have a shit load of valve seals I'll never use if you want some of them
what happened to no 8 sparkplug ..... may be the pitting on the piston and head ... use the block drain plugs to avoid water in the cylinders when removing the heads ...
I bought a 2002 ford ranger 2.3 of used car trade in auction and head was started to be took off and found owner and asked him why he started taking it apart and said it dropped a valve and all the vavle stems weere all same height so i knew that wasnt right so i decided to take the head off and almost gave up and notice number 4 piston was lower than the others at tdc. Cleaned the piston top and associated part of head and bost surfaces had those tiny dings. Bought a whole different truck for $350 and used that motor instead. Lol
were the rod n mains micd out?? never mind u answered it in the video... hahhaha then they wonder why it knocks and he dingled it... wow ... not a good way to hone a hole...
Rattle can rebuild. That adds at least twenty horsepower and the orange is another five. Good to see you back making videos. Great video
This is one of my favorite channels. Love the odd shit you guys mess with.

Good to hear from you! Was hoping you were going to leave the motor rusty looking. So good to see people still doing cheap ass rebuilds!! They work!
It's a small block. That's actually the manufacturer suggested rebuild procedure.

Good thing the 307s were bulletproof
Nice work bud if we give up on these old square body's there won't be any left and that wouldn't be good stay safe and God bless

Right On!!! Good to see another C10 on the road and not in the junkyard!!!!
I was just wondering how you guys were doing. Good to see things are going well. 👍
You can chuck valve stem seals in it later, even if only on the inlets 👍
You know they are toast!
Welcome back....I was starting to worry about you. 😂
Glad you got that thing fixed. 👍
Your video us long overdue, I love your channel ❤
If you paint the master cylinder it'll give you ABS.
"aerosol overhaul" my key to success!

Del-a-waya! Great to see a new video, thanks!
Damn that's still one sexy truck I still wish I owned it!!😍😎👍
Welcome back, I was just looking you up because I realized it had been a while since you had posted. Thank you for the video!
Itll be a mystery forever! I laughed a little too loud at that.

Cool video. I like these types of freshen a old engine video when it all works out

That may be so, but you Aussies have the funniest sayings... 😂

@@stephenmoutafis5587 sonds about right
Still best name ever 🤷♂️💚🤙
Good job on the rebuild. If blue smoke comes out after sitting at a stoplight for a while its probably the valve guides or seals.
missed you g
I love using summit branded stuff. I think some of their oil pumps are actually re-boxed melling’s.
Just installed a summit brand oil pump on a 6.0 LS, definitely was a melting unit.
Thought I was watching Oceans 12 for a second during that montage.
I really like the colour on that truck!
I believe it's called dessert sand. I have a 84 looks similar in color
Spotted BCW shirt.
W123 is the ultimate all purpose vehicle.
Nice work with the gloven , I’m sure it helped

Email me, we can make this happen.
Cool truck hei distributor and 4 barrel would really bring that motor to life. Dual exhaust
Great to see you again. I was starting to get worried lol. Thanks for the update.
Congrats, the orange is looking sick.
Glad to see you back
Good to have you back & making content , you were really missed !
Squarebody Nation💪
Nice hoody (jumper) woody would be proud #TheSkidFactory
i use 3/8 in. stainless steel all thread ( cut to length ) for exhaust studs with 3/8 in. brass nuts.
Good to see you back. Turbo did well,on Grandpa!
Thanks for helping me waste another 20 minutes of life, I enjoyed watching!
Great job man! Missed your content.
Yeah the boys are back !
As always good show man!!!
Good to see a video from you was wondering what you be up to
Love the 70s music
appreciate the video, but you really gotta do something about the audio quality. That mic setup just ain't working
Love the channel 👍🏻
Well that didn't take long! Paint is a bit over the top but I've heard it is good to double the power, Maybe should paint the Barra orange...
Paint grandpa you mean...
Rockauto was selling sbc valve stem seals for $.08. I bought 16 umbrella and 16 positive lock seals thinking they were individual seals. I have a shit load of valve seals I'll never use if you want some of them

Cool story bro
nice truck
that music during the engine teardown was swank!
So thats a dupont over haul with new parts installed 🤔 😀 😆
Would love to buy that truck.
Gotta do some rust repair on her before she falls apart.
One pump for science. Lol
I thought the knock was a wrist pin tho? He did say that I think lol
Bahahaha the gloven !
I was hoping for a driving video.
It has a Pennsylvania inspection sticker.
Yes they are in.pa so am I emissions and inspection every year !
It was sitting out in the snow and moisture got in the bearing my 96 k2500 did the same thing when my engine was out for 6 months oops
Time to get a K series instead of a C series
If you are spending that much time and money on the truck you should restore it
A lotta white stuff... with a lot of the RIGHT white stuff you could afford some epic builds! 🤣 lol
Where r u guys in pa? I’m not far at all from where this was bought lol. I used to live in bucks co.
the bug guard stays!
How do you get that amazing shop floor finish?
Did you say oven cleaner? What does that do. Need details lol
The best engine cleaner.
Snow
Question i noticed a pa inspection sticker on windshield, are you located in Pennsylvania too ?
oh no its all in the left ear
lol except when your mic stops working towards the end the audio just becomes ok
@@fpsvoltage3005 Bad thing is I'm far more deaf on my port side than starboard!
Do you still have the truck
were the rod n mains micd out?? never mind u answered it in the video... hahhaha then they wonder why it knocks and he dingled it... wow ... not a good way to hone a hole...
Because I own a 1985 Chevrolet Silverado k10 350 and my idle is set to 750 rpm then when I put it in drive it's set to 550 rpm
Did you decide if you want to sell the truck? I am not far from you and looking for a farm truck for my father.
sup with all the lifters being out of stock .... just one chinese guy in a bathroom somewhere making them ??
Wait, you mean that a 350 two barrel can still run? I thought you needed to LS swap everything on RUclips
I just built a 250 for my 65. Got some funny looks from people in my owners club.
Set the to 750 rpm
I'd love to watch this, but I just can't stand the audio being messed up like that.
Have you thought about doing youtu.be full time? You have a lot of subscribers
I don't like the bug gard
