    • 1 1/2-2 pounds Brussels sprouts trimmed and halved
    • 1/4 cup melted butter
    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
    • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt

I made the brussel sprouts with out butter and cheese. I used olive oil, chopped garlic, black pepper, and fresh lemon. I cooked them for 12 minutes. They turned out amazing. Thanks for sharing!

I've been cooking for over 60 years based on the theory that, if I'm the cook, I won't ever have to eat something I don't like. And I didn't like Brussels sprouts until about 20 years ago when I came across a recipe that did not include boiling. Since then, I've concluded that Brussels sprouts are something of an acquired taste, sorta like beer. This recipe looks like another winner.

They certainly are better roasted than boiled. For those of us who don’t have an air fryer, it definitely can be done in the oven. Yummy side dish!

You're exactly right. I don't have an air fryer so I roast them in the oven. I grew up on the boiled, slimy tasteless Sprouts, mom used to get the Green Giant with butter sauce in the boiling bag, whoosh, terrible! So that almost turned me against them, just recently I decided to try different ways of cooking them and the oven won, hands down. I buy frozen sprouts because I live out in the country and can't go to the store anytime I need fresh Sprouts, but, honestly the frozen ones can get just as crispy and delicious as fresh ones. Even my son who would'nt eat sprouts if you paid him fell in love with them. I do the same with Broccoli.

I’ve always roasted them myself, but man if you have a few bucks get yourself an air fryer, you will not be disappointed. I promise. It’s really phenomenal at cooking things fast and very crispy. And still have the rich taste of something roasted or fried the slower, messier, more traditional way.

@@NativeNYerChicHK it would be nice to have an air fryer, but I have absolutely zero space for one. No counter space AND no storage space. So I must be realistic about what I buy.

If you do like your Brussels sprouts boiled (I do) but, don't like that bitterness that can happen with Brussels sprouts add vinegar to the water. I usually use half a bag of frozen Brussels sprouts, enough water to cover the sprouts, and approx. 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of white vinegar. When I get the desired tenderness I drain them, cut them in half, add butter, and sprinkle them with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste. Let them soak up the butter and garlic for a bit while you finish preparing your meal.

I read (or viewed) something recently that claimed convincingly that agricultural researchers have pretty recently (last 20-30 years) bred out that old weird taste I remember from brussels sprouts in my youth (like the 80s). So modern brussels sprouts are probably more enjoyable due to better recipes and methods, but also they just taste better to begin with.
