Very well said! Yes, this and many lessons are a hard to swallow pill kind of lesson for many beginning creators. Something I wish I knew when I first started, but had to learn the hard way. A couple things I wanted to note though: 1. Can’t wait to collab, it’s gonna be killer 2. Title, topic, thumbnail. Those are the big three 3. The “title” of your video file has no effect on video performance. RUclips has come out and said this, and proved it. It’s the video performance, IE the audience reaction that matters most. 4. Organic growth is the best and only growth. You want that true audience that likes you for you and your content. 5. No content is truly over saturated. You just have to stand out and make amazing content. 6. You’re always going to get negative comments. Just part of being online. You’re not gonna be able to please everyone. Roll with it, accept it, and it’ll make getting those comments easier (I just laugh em off) 7. Many people will doubt you. Especially family and friends. Many won’t support you till they see success. That’s just motivation to keep going and prove em wrong. It’s a hard and long road. But it’s so worth it. Everyone starts at 0. 8. Keep going. Keep learning. Keep getting better and always self improve. Don’t stop. You got this 🔥
Awesome video. I am small RUclipsr, and I think that for small channels the most important thing is to get good presence from the beginning. If you are not popular, people won't care even if you have the best videos and the best content on platform. I am not beginner anymore, but I know how hard it can be (and honestly if I didn't use a lot of Fame - ster, I would have quit a long time ago. It made everything much easier for me, especially getting to 1000 subs and view hours).
You said it all. I told my sister about my RUclips channel, and sent her my video links, she told me she watched my videos for a few minutes and clicked out. I screamed and told her to just play it on her laptop if she can’t sit down to watch it. I had to explain to her that watching the video for a few minutes and clicking out, hurts my channel. 😅
Excellent advice! I am just getting started on this and the best thing I've done so far is watch videos from the experts like you to steer me in the right direction. Thanks!
Thank you! Just started this channel, I didn't tell anybody (except my wife, but she doesn't know the name of the channel), as you said this is true for any important project you have in life: just do it, don't talk about it.
Great info! I only got full monetization a little over a month ago so thank you! I noticed your San Diego hat. I hope you are safe from the fires if that's where you're located! And hello from Chico California😊
From the start, I have decided not to tell friends and family about my channel. The truth is, I feel kinda shy telling them and them watching me, but I do not feel too shy if people I do not know watches me :)
I think it’s better because, if you have a hard time expressing yourself in front of others , then you don’t have to have those intrusive thoughts every time you go to post. I feel the same .Dont share. You can say controversial topics without someone thinking you’re talking about them. Then they don’t talk to you at the family gatherings er something . It’s also a glimpse into who you are and what you think. New friends can think they know everything about you too since it appears to be an unlimited access to you(your content)
Hi Andy Great advice,my family and close friends know I have a RUclips channel,I dont force them to watch. I have not sent any links either. If people are genuine and interested they will find your channel and hopefully subscribe if the content is of interest to them My advice to anyone is let the RUclips algorithm work for you! Be honest and genuine with your channel
I wish I have heard this before. When we watch the so called coaches, they say share it with your friends and family and invite them to watch and subscribe. I wish I didn't do but I did share with family and friends and I realised not everyone is genuinely happy to support, it hurts but that's the reality. My husband even shared with his friends and invited them to subscribe and when they see my small channel with less views and subscribers, I was more than embarrassed than grateful.
I will take your advice, thank you! I just started my channel about minimalism, simple living, and escaping the rat race. I feel great about this. I see growth now, just had it for a month! :-) Good luck fellow RUclipsrs!
This information is so mentally helpful to me - I’ve been so worried about how much effort I was putting into sharing my YT vids on social media and telling friends and family, before watching this video. I was stressing myself out. Now I realize I’ve been doing too much lol Thank you for sharing this advice Andy!
Andy there are a few videos out lately on this topic. This was a good and informative video. I have a different reason why not to tell friends and family. I have a video coming out soon on it, I’ll give you a mention 💪
Don't worry about the criticism. I just got full monetization and criticism is a good thing! As long as you don't get all offended, you just might learn from it. Cuz let me tell you no matter how big you get, people are always going to criticize on your channel❤
Very Very good video i used to make my girlfriend watch my videos at early time but i learnt that people watching from same ip crush your video to go viral . Thanks alot buddy ❤❤❤
I would say the one thing people have to understand is nuance, treat each social media place like its own planet, people who live on the moon dont want to leave to go visit Mars, so when i post content on youtube, i separately post a completely different video on facebook , NO LINKS! and usually people who are engaged go and find the channel themselves
Treat RUclips like a business, be very careful about who you invite into your business. I told them I was going to make a channel I just never told them what it is or what I’m posting.
Truly, new creators need to let the algorithm figure out who their audience is, we need to grow organically, and when the algorithm eventually finds your audience, you will never struggle to get views, and each one of your videos will go viral because the algorithm knows exactly who to send your content to.
So question, what if you have a private FB group that is actually the name of your YT channel? I have a personal FB plus the group page - same as my YT. But I have noticed most of those folks on my group page aren’t subbed to my channel. So it really has me thinking now. Thanks for sharing this information.
Your so right about this , I use to take it so personal when my friends would ask me something about my hair and I’m just looking like dude you didn’t watch my videos 😂 now I understand from their point of view… if your not on a Hairjourney why would you care 🤷🏿♀️
Ha ha, right? I'm glad this helped you! You're so right! Supportive friends are awesome, but the expectation of them watching EVERY video and being dialed in is a little inaccurate! Glad to see you broke the 1K subs mark, keep going!
Totally blind RUclipsr here the only thumb my nail I have is a picture of me holding a microphone and I have a book review channel. Do you have any tips on how to grow?
If mistakes have been made, will the algorithm recover, won't the mistakes be repeated? Her friends, even I myself, speed up my video, just to make it look more attractive to other viewers who come to the channel..
I can tell my RUclips channel actively pisses off people I know. Only thing I’ll say when asked is I’m filming vid. Oh to see them steam. Seemingly people hate that you want a change or feel you can achieve it. Lol. Go fir it everyone
Ha ha, no man - I wish I did, I'd probably have a much bigger channel. Lol. I saw a girl do a video like this in her car & I decided to record my own video and put my spin on it. I had no idea this topic is trending right now. Lol. But you're the second person to point this out today. Hope it helped, more than it may have annoyed you. Ha ha. Cheers.

I’m way too embarrassed to tell my family and friends. 😂 I’m here for me and to cheer on my ‘Jeanie’s’ to go for their goals and dreams! 💜
