I can answer that question about musicals. Just like, when I was younger, and was encouraged to search and find what you like. Experience. Try and push yourself, to do different hobbies. And then find out what you do like, and don't like. Just like, most people do not end up into doing what they thought from a certain age. Can be many reasons why you would fall into a sector. But one thing, that is encouraged... when I was younger, is to "do research for your sector". Each stages of life, brings you different choices.. and you have to make those choices that sits well with you. I could've been sent to Europe to settle, but I declined, so this speaks volume really. I reached to the highest stage of my career, and then I backtracked. Even if you enter a sector.. there could be like 10 or 20 different kind of roles. You would not necessarily fit a specific role. Just like, my tech career. I knew what I liked and don't like. So I took the option that was more towards something that I can relate, and liked. Some people liked, network, some people like coding. Some people liked applications. Some liked databases. They are all different. and then you have tech in engineering. Tech in education. Tech in science. Tech in infrastructures. Tech in R&Ds. I would try many things to do with music first, and dramas. Narrow this down, and then explore... The questions that you should have asked these ladies are.... "How many specific roles, do you see existing in the musical sector?"....(Ask them how they perceive the industry basically.) Even with musical, what types of music ? What types of instruments? e.g. Blues, Jazz, operatics, classical, European, Latin Americans. With musicals, it could be classic musical with jazz type, which is common in Europe. Then the chinese dramas types in HK. Or Cantonese operas. Or... Japanese kabuki ? And then in operas, in Europe, you have Italian operas, English Shakespearean, amateur operatics (which is very low level charity type play work, which gets funding sometimes). I would learn the basics, and the building blocks first...
