She fell for him because he gave her the one thing she was lacking, and that was freedom. It was foreign to her and by asking her to lay in the road with him and yes being reluctant at first but then deciding to shows this.
god, i love this film. it's like you know just thinking about the film that it makes you feel good but you can't really remember all the reasons why, then you watch it or just a small and simple part like this and you realize its those small things like when he laughs while asking her why she's laughing that make it so real and so meaningful. like there really could be a love where you can just be your honest and dorky self, comfortable with the way it should be.
@Karah Charette I mean...call me cynical or something, but I'd rather like to call myself a detractor, but...while I don't think this movie was awful like other people have said, there are a lot of really awkwardly placed scenes in this movie, and I think the moment right before it is one of them. I could only say that I'm glad that Ryan Gosling picked more creatively fruitful roles than this. I'll say that the laugh from McAdams did feel genuine in that moment, but I really don't think that many of the other emotions in this movie was that genuine. It's also not really that dorky. For one, it's not really the most realistic time period to see that many dorky people, and two...it does start to border on kinda dangerous. Had they not defined his character a little bit better or given him as good an actor as Gosling, it does kinda border on Edward from Twilight levels of red flags. Actually the strange thing was that Tom Cruise was going to be the lead, and Steven Spielberg was going to be the directors.
anyone else wish they lived in the old days then now. I literally get anxiety thinking about how much better the olden days are and how i want to escape 2018, i have these fantasy’s of a perfect life that i know i won’t ever have cause i’m 14 and by the time i’m 20 the worlds juts gonna get worse worse
This movie reminds me so much of my ex and I. We met when we were 15. We just recently broke up a month ago at 24… it hurts but I’m going to leave at the hands of the universe and hope we both come out better.
I can relate to this . I married the first boy I ever snuck out to go see at 14. We ran away and got married at 19 and had a daughter. Sadly we split up but I still think of him everyday and I feel like Allie’s mom who regrets losing the love of my life
i sooo love this scene:D. i was searchin on youtube for this song - i'll be seeing you. and it's suposed to be by billy holiday. but this version from the notebook , dance scene is different voice. do any of you know who sings it or i'm just wrong about billy holiday :P

Wow perfectly said. I guess this is what I am missing from my life and why I resonate so much with this movie.

i think about this all the time
going back to live in the old days would be my dream
I totally agree with you 💔
The old days are were not old from the beginning
Not with all the racism going in, especially un the south
you left out the part when she says "they fell in love, didn't they?" and he says "yes they did."
The only movie that can make me cry.
…back when MOST people waited till marriage; Back when people knew what dating was and wanted to be courted. Chemistry was key.
Not true matter a fact they used to get it in alot younger than modern days. Even before highschool. Thats a fact statistically

About the time of my mom’s fun times-I never heard her mention this song-but had the pianist play it at her funeral ❤️
Billy Holiday sang this! Lady Day they called her! Bipolar, heroin addict like so many jazz musicians! Her childhood 😓
This scene makes me want to date a rich hot babe
Amirite!
I'll be seeing you ❤
Why can’t we let men of today be like him? Today, if someone did what he did for her, he’ll be called a creep.
Most men are. Alot of men don't want to have a meanigful, long term relationship. They'll pretend to be nice to get you into bed.
