I haven’t played gta in ages and thought this drift update was just gonna be more “slippery tyres” bs lol, glad to see they actually tried a bit more than that!
It's way more than that. I entered with the same scepticism, but the drift physics are better than many arcade racing games. I'd say it's better than nfs and crew for sure. It feels more like Forza.

The new drifting works well, but feels cartoonish. They turn the car into awd and the low grips don’t feel the same
@@Biowolf626 in a sense, having an awd drift car makes sense. Low grip is goinna make it spin out, so with awd (which is 80% to the rear anyways) helps you a lot to recover

WIth how ass low grips were/are I genuinely expected it to be angle kits and nothing more, super surprised how good it feels and works - very reminiscent of early NFS drifting.

lately ive been on a winning spree because WAY before this update i used to use mod menus to make cool drift tunes for any car, and it handled JUST like this, except it was difficult to make it purely RWD, i had to use AWD with 20% bias to the front, and also needed alot of power for it to work well, so basically i have starting experience no one had, its AMAZING, this update is even BETTER than using mods to modify cars. this is by far my most favourite update ever for this game

Ive been drifting since day one when you had to stance an tune it and learn the infamous double clutch till the low grip tires did a great job and especially you can put them on any vehicle,,, an now an actual drift tune you can buy this was carefully executed an designed very well......🔥🤟🏿
How does double clutching work with tune? Does it work at all?
@@filipgimell7507 Yeah, you have to use the foot brake instead as the handbrake only locks up the rear and drift handling converts to AWD.
@@dyIanVIII keep seeing claims that the drift kit makes cars awd, but I put it on my drift Tampa and it definitely did no such thing..
very cool. feels a little slow and probably requires you to race with no collision if in a public lobby but really well done nonethless.

That's my hope. A friend questioned why there adding all this stuff to 5 when 6 is right around the corner and my answer was that it seems to me like they're showing off some of what 6 will be bringing to start with.
It's not realistic and it's unfortunate. And, no, I don't mean it by sim standards, I mean it by like Forza Horizon or NFS standards. It's too easy to initiate a drift and the game will take control over the car to help with the angles. You really can't pull of complicated maneuvers or do really anything more than a mean unrealistic angle like the CGI shots in Tokyo Drift. There's also the fact that there's no learning curve, so it's really only fun for a day and that's it. It looks cool and it's kinda fun with friends but still. I'm sure for most people it's pretty alright tho.

as a once-was CarX Drift Racing player, the drifting physics on controller feel weird.
How does it balance out who came first and who got a high score, what counts as winning?
You manually set that in the lobby, there are settings for how many extra points you get for finishing first
Its a shame they didn't add a phonk dnb underground station like gta 3.

Time to log on and farm for another futogtx. I want test the down hill mountain without having to pay 200k each time I would like to go back and forth to change different things. I have a feeling no tune/no low grip tires will have more control and a better feel of the drift. Yes I want to be fast but I want the control so I can deliver more tofu.

P2W grinding lmfao. It's easier to make money now than it's ever been. Salvage yard alone can net you around a million a day just for going and towing a vehicle every 20 minutes while you spend the rest of the time goofing off.
Gta+ is some shit but you really can't complain about the grind anymore unless you're completely irresponsible with the money you earn.
@@-user_redacted- Still doesn't make game updates any less ridiculous though. They can give you a a cheap, old, generic sedan, but because it's part of the latest update it's worth at least a couple million, which makes zero sense.
I mean hell, just look at the Beater Dukes. The regular Dukes is/was cheap to buy, but you have to pay several times more just for the same exact car but all damaged and neglected.

Negative. This is a slap in the face to real drifters. Taking away tunes, making all the available cars all wheel drive and making it that easy isn’t them “finally getting it right”. It’s them commercializing it and making it noob friendly.

i have tried every car stock and sofar for me its the tampa and the rx that drifts the best for me
its not that hard tho even on keyboard if you played fiveM before you prob gonna adapt fast

@@ExplosiveSubstep here in Indonesia we just buy Dualshock 2 controller and get USB to Playstation 2 converter, it only took $4 or 60k-70k IDR or when we have extra $1 or $2, then it's Dualshock 3 / Playstation 3 controller

Drifting still looks like shit in this game
The drifting is so easy lmao of course its difficult for some and easy for others but tbh you have to get the feel for it. From my experience I don't use the brakes/Handbrake, I use all gas hold it n let it go or tap it. But the key is to get the feel for it along with getting the feel for certain drift cars and see what works for you 👍
It’s just way too slow. I can’t upshift or downshift. I have next to no grip so it makes exiting corners sloppy and slow. Sure this is great for showy drifts but this shit would murder your run in a time trial.
Ik ik. If I want good drift mechanics I’ll go to a game like MR:T or Assetto Corsa. But dammit do I think it’d be cool if all that shit was in gta. I wanna change my tire compound to be more grippy while also having this drift tune for the engine. I wanna be able to control what gear I’m in so I can make my car use the maximum power output it can use. I wanna be able to drift with speed and precision.
Ik im coming off as if I hate how they implemented it. Ig it’s fine for what it is, but I wish they had tunes for other types of drifting as well, not just whoever has the most points wins. Let me beat someone on the downhill or uphill of a mountain pass road. Let me win the race based on skill. They implemented one type of drifting but ignored the other type.
And again, ik if I want a more in depth tuning experience I can go back to the games I mentioned. But I just wish gta had the same things those games had. I’m probably a minority in wanting that, but I want it nonetheless.

The thing about these drift events is that you can just wait to be last and cheese the drifting. I never really liked how most games does these drift events. I'd rather have a position multiplier that would be fairly minor and checkpoints with timers that would take off 20% of the drift points within a segment to really give you a sense of urgency. That, or whatever points you did get is what you get and subtract 20%, then you have to move on to the next segment and you can't score anymore until the next segment.
