Beautiful tribute. You always bring a new angle and look at such wonderful artists. Making many of us to seek out more of their works. You have carefully and delicately brought these truly icons to a new audience. I'm sure Diana is looking down thoroughly enjoying the poignant way you continue to celebrate her time on earth. Truly appreciate your modern content. Hoping you had an awesome Christmas and the sincerest best wishes for the year ahead.💙
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! It's very appreciated! I adore Diana this was pure joy for me to make! But I will be back to my usual format in January! 😀 Thank you for watching and I wish you a very Happy New Year too! ♥♥♥
Oh wow! What a stunning collection of Diana Dors memorabilia, her dresses were beautiful. My mum would often mention briefly meeting Diana at the BBC back in the 1950s , my mum worked as a secretary for the wardrobe department and got to see a lot of stars of the day. She said Diana was stunning, that she had enormous charisma, all eyes were on her sort of thing! Mum was a big Diana Dors fan, so this little memory was one she loved to share! She would have loved your channel🙂 I love your retro bar, I love vintage things so this video was a real treat❤
Thank you so much for your wonderful comment! It’s amazing to hear your mum’s memories of meeting Diana Dors-what a remarkable woman she must have been in person, I would have absolutely loved to have met her! Your mum must have had so many wonderful stories working for the wardrobe department! What a truly fabulous job! I’m so glad the video resonated with you, and I’m thrilled you enjoyed my retro bar and vintage collection. It’s always special to connect with fellow vintage enthusiasts. Thanks for sharing that lovely story 😊❤♥♥😊
What beautiful clothes! How amazing to have these items ‘in the flesh’ so to speak. I hope you get to increase the collection in 2024. Thank you for such a wonderful year remembering the lives of these iconic actors
You are so welcome! I loved everything Diana wore and I love how she adapted to each new decade of fashion - even on the occasions when she recycled her clothing - she always looked so glamorous! xxxx
What a treat ! I remember Diana Dors when I was a kid. I loved how despite the fame and glamour, she remained authentic and down to earth. A real national treasure ❤🌹
I was born in 1962 in Swindon, and still live here.one of the things I learnt when I was very young was Diana was from here.she was beautiful and a fabulous actress.
Thank you so much for sharing! It's wonderful to hear from someone who shares a hometown with Diana Dors. She truly was an icon, not only known for her stunning beauty but also for her incredible talent as an actress. It's great to see that her legacy continues to be appreciated in Swindon and beyond! I'm such a huge fan and I do travel to Swindon just to drive around Diana's old stomping ground, I love it there! xxxx
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre I am also from Swindon, born and bred here 1957 and still living here. Generations of my family have lived in Swindon. My Mum born the same year as Diana in 1931 is still here at 93. Mum saw a lot of Diana when she was on leave from J. Arthur Rank school walking through the town centre with her Mum, often seen in McIroy's department store looking at the makeup. I expect you know all this Diana's father worked in the offices of the Great Western Railway and Diana's Mum wanted her to have the lifestyle she thought she'd missed out on when she was young. I have seen the blue plaque dedicated to Diana's birthplace in Kent Road and her home in Marlborough Road. Diana didn't like coming back to Swindon because a lot thought she wouldn't amount to anything, of course she was marvelous. Swindonians then were very narrow minded living in a small industrial town, a lot never having done much but go back and forward to work in the industries. Thank you for the great video to watch, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Such wonderful memories you have in your Aladdins cave.. a beautiful tribute you gave Diana . That takes me back seeing that baby sham little deer. Well done with the tribute again first class!
I JUST wanted to say thankyou . With all that is going on in the . 🌎 . Having you is a blessing. A short break in the constant negatives we get on mainstream media . PLEASE 🙏 don't ever stop. 🎉🎉wish we could go back to the 60,70,80s
You've made my day! Thank you so much for your lovely comment - I've got a new video coming at the end of the week! Working on it at the moment! I hope you'll enjoy it - and oh yes!!! I do miss so much about the past! xxxxx
I did wonder why I never got a visit from Santa anymore 😂 So glad you enjoyed the videos - thank you so much for watching Dave - it's always appreciated! xxxx
I can't even tell you in words how much I absolutely LOVE visiting Swindon!!! That's so wonderful that you're so close to Diana's home - I wonder if the people that live there now are fans of Diana? I also adore the statue by the cinema - it's so much better in real life than photos show it - it's a real work of art and I can imagine Diana would be so thrilled with it! Thank you so much for watching the video and for your lovely comment - it's so appreciated! xxxx
I don't remember a lot when i was little in the sixties but i am catching up now 😅. She looked amazing! Her outfits are truly gorgeous 😍. I love tje way you fit the photos and footage woth your narration in your videos. You really do have a talent for it. When i watch your videos i go into a different world 🌎. It feels like a holiday given what is going on today. Thanks so much dear Shar ❤.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment Helen! Diana Dors truly had a remarkable style, didn't she? I'm glad you enjoy the way I put together the photos and footage with narration in my videos. It's always my aim to create an immersive experience and I'm so passionate and dedicated to the subjects of my videos and, especially Diana Dors! I completely get what you mean about feeling like you're on a little holiday when watching them. In today's world, a bit of escapism can be a welcome treat. Thank you for watching the video and your support - it means a lot to me and it's very appreciated! xxxx
Brilliant as ever! I have a daughter who has a vintage online store (our house decor ranges from the thirties to the seventies). I will show her your video You come up with so many interesting people and designers! I am sure she will love it. Diana was a star in every sense.
I'd love to hear what your daughter's online shop is called! I'm obsessed with the past - I had a vintage clothes shop for many years on the high street - selling vintage and reproduction clothing (I closed in 2018) it's always been a big passion for me - my house is the same eclectic mix as yours! I live in a thirties house - I'd find it difficult to live in a modern home now - in fact I'd love a Victorian house! I hope your daughter enjoys the video - Diana had such extravagant tastes and so glamorous! xxxx
Oh yes! I have been for ages to be honest - but things come along and it goes into the 'in a while' pile lol I am aiming to be more disciplined about it in 2024! xx
I do hope the start of next year you're rewarded for your sterling work including these vlogs and all books with an OBE,Im starting to petition the King as we speak!!! xxxx
Oh this made my day! Hahaha!!!! Thanks Ian - I greatly appreciate the thought! I hope your New Year is filled with fun, laughter, good health, happiness and prosperity! xxxx
maybe you could find out the names of some of "les petites mains" who worked for Douglas Darnell. Judging from the pin story, he doesn't sound like the kind of guy who would have sewn on those 257,000 cerise colored sequins himself! they might have some insight into those with missing labels if they were young enough to still be alive today. Great post, Shar - your patience has paid off!!
Thank you so much Marcel! I am actually in touch with someone and I'm hoping to find out more - it absolutely fascinates me! And the sequins - absolutely!!! That made me laugh! xxxxx
Thank you so much Anthony, you have made my day - I love sharing information about Diana Dors - as you could probably tell!! xx Thank you for watching! xx
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for giving us some insight in Diana's vast wardrobe. Nice to hear she recycled! Please tell me how you acquired her throne. Cheers.
Thank you so much for watching and enjoying the video! I'm thrilled that you found the insights into Diana's wardrobe interesting. It's fascinating to explore her fashion choices and discover more about her recycling habits. The throne came up for sale as with the clothes and I was able to acquire them and very happy to do so! ♥
@treyquattro. My eyes kept being dragged back to that sign, my friend, even though I was trying hard to listen to what Shar was telling us. 😉♥ Personally, I think it tells us more about Shar's 'playful' nature. 😉♥
😂 I love it! xx especially with Eartha Kitt on the record player singing 'Santa Baby' I'm not interested in the Sable - but I would definitely appreciate some decorations bought at Tiffany's ohhhh and the deed to the platinum mine - and one more thing... a ring - but only Kutchinsky of course 😂😂😂
This was another enjoyable video, thank you. Diana was very glamorous and her early outfits really appealed to me. I think she had fabulous hair. How special that you have her throne and I hope you can obtain some pieces. I would like to hear about her perfume and jewellery.♥️
Thank you so much! I adore Diana's early film costumes and outfits - I particularly love the clothes she wore in Value for Money and The Unholy Wife! Diana was very skilled at doing her own hair - she said she preferred to do it herself - of course she had a hairstylist when she was working on a film but when she attended events etc - she took care of it herself. I will definitely do a video about her perfume and jewellery - I wasn't sure if anyone else would be interested but it would be sometime I'd really enjoy doing! xxxxx
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre Did Diana sometimes wear a wig? Asking because sometimes her hairline looked different. It would be an easy hairstyle to replicate.
Thank you for sharing your Beautiful collection. How lucky you must feel having your Idol's personal belongings to look at every day . They are stunning dresses & the chair how did you find that ? I am truly amazed watching this video 👍
You're so welcome! I have been wanting the chair for a very long time - and around 10yrs ago I just missed out on the clothes - so as soon as the opportunities presented themselves I didn't think twice! I still have my eye on a few other things I know are out there - so watch this space lol xxx I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!!! xxxxxx
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre I loved the video I know how special them things are to you . I loved and grew up worshipping Fred dibnah till this day And i have a collection of his tools \ pulleys that can be seen in vids & photos and they mean the world to me having them . Don't get me wrong a dirty greasy pulley wheel isn't in no shape or form the same as a Diana Dors dress . But they are all tools of there trade . And idolise them we will 😂 but seriously I love other people's hobbies and interests especially when they speak of them with such a Passion it's Brilliant to keep these people's memories & achievements alive .
Ohhhh 😂 I know what you mean! I have had the privilege of holding items of clothing etc that belonged to Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield too - it's so special and I guess when you've admired someone for so long as I have (and you with Fred!) with Diana, Marilyn, and Jayne - it brings it home to you that they were real people! xxx
A lovely lady with lots of class. I remember her when I was a nipper when me dad used to watch The Sweeney. She was fab in Adam Ants video too! I saw a couple of her early films from the 50s and some were particularly gritty - Yield to the Night springs to mind. What a fab chair! Cheers for posting 😀👍
I love Diana as Mrs Rix in The Sweeney! That episode was 'Messenger of the Gods' now I am wondering where that orange dress went - I do believe the leopard coat was sold on eBay a few years ago - I saw it in the sold section - if I'd have seen it when the sale was live I wouldn't have hesitated to go for it lol Adam had to wine and dine her apparently to get her to appear - she loved the star treatment - and they became great friends and he used to send her a postcard whenever he was on his travels and flowers regularly too by all accounts! Yield to the Night was Diana's personal favourite - she felt it was the pinnacle of her career - at the time she thought she'd truly 'made it' but the quality scripts she was expecting after that film never arrived - sorry, if talking about Diana and her career was an Olympic sport I'd win gold every time - once I start it's hard to stop lol xxxx Thank you for watching the video! xxxxx
Beautiful tribute. It's 40 years ago today 24/6/24/ that Tommy Godfrey passed away. The previous month he attended Diana dors funeral. Tommy was another of my favourites. Including diana's very talented husband Alan lake❤ there legend lives on .
Tommy Godfrey was absolutely marvellous! Thank you so much for your lovely comment and reminder of Tommy! I was at Sunningdale on Sunday with flowers for Diana and Alan, it was a beautiful day there and I agree, their legends certainly live on xxxx
@@BeautifulBadandBizarreI shall be thinking of Alan ❤ on Thursday 10th October: 40 years ago, but seems like yesterday ❤ I noticed there was something on the news about Leonard rossiter's 40th anniversary) i wonder if Alan's 40th anniversary ❤ will be mentioned on main stream media) sadly I doubt it. ❤ RIP Alan lake ❤
In my youth I once got drunk on brandy and babycham🍸.🤢 The next morning when I awoke, the room split in half with a black void in the middle and I couldn't move! 🫣😱 These days I only drink tea🫖😂 Thanks Shar for bringing us the beautiful clothes worn by our dearest Diana Dors. ❤️🏴🇬🇧
Oh Glenda! This has made me laugh so much - funnily enough.... I am leaning towards only tea and coffee! I find the older I get the less well I cope with drinking in general - but I do love my Champagne lol Thank you so much for your comment! xxxxxx
Apologies for taking the subject matter somewhat off topic , but as a teen in the ‘70s & a young man in the ‘80s , I was obsessed with the gorgeous Diana Dors . Not only was she beautiful , she was beaucoup sexy too . I was heartbroken when she passed away so suddenly in 1984 . She was utterly magnificent ❤
@@bergkampmagoo5964 that’s actually completely on topic! It’s all about Diana! ❤️❤️❤️ I loved her too back then - I think she was wonderfully inspirational - she rose to so many challenges throughout her life and she always gave her fans 100% ❤️
What an amazing chair. And those beautiful costumes are still going strong. It's nice that they went to someone who is a fan, that those pieces are kept together xo
Thank you so much Faith! I am in complete love with the whole collection - I also collect photographs and autographs etc and have done for years xxxxxx
What a lovely video Shar. Diana Dors was definitely stunning and I remember her very well. Love your vintage bar, the Babycham memorabilia brought back memories. Even the Pizzaland in the Hampstead picture, go smash an egg and celebrity Squares etc. brought back memories. How lovely you have things of Diana.’s and the chair is amazing. Doesn’t seem possible it will be 40 years next year on 4 May, I remember I was delivering papers and the 5th and remember the headlines. Wishing you a very happy 2024 and look forward to your videos xx

Definitely would love to see more video's on Diana's clothes etc.Just stunning! An absolute treat to end the year on. Have a fabulous new year ❤
Thank you so much Aidan! Well lets just say I am always on the look out for Dors related items - I definitely plan to make more videos on Diana - there is so much to say about her! There's also a lot of incorrect information about her out on youtube - which I'd like to address! I have considered beginning a channel exclusively for Dors as obviously this channel has a very specific format - so I'm thinking that one through! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video - thank you for your kind words - and I wish you am absolutely wonderful New Year! xxxxx
So lovely to see you! I was literally thinking about you and your channel the other day and here you are! Looking absolutely gorgeous and your hair looks fantastic !I've now seen so many of your videos and your work and production is top notch along with your lovely voice for narration. Thank you - as you could probably tell it's my pride and joy lol xxxx thank you for watching Barney and for your lovely comment - much appreciated! xxxx
Very informative video. Amazing that you actually own some original pieces. What's even more nicer is that you, a fan, own them instead of some dealer. I'm sure Miss Dors would certainly approve of that, knowing that you will look after them and love them, in equal measure. I hope you had a lovely Christmas and may I wish you a happy and prosperous New Year. x
Thank you so much I'm glad you enjoyed it! They are absolutely treasured and loved - Christmas was lovely thank you - I hope yours was too and I wish you the very best and happiest of New Years xxxx
I did indeed try them on - with the exception of the suit as it's incredibly tiny - I have to say they seemed made to measure - I am the same height and build as Diana was during the the time she wore these clothes - my friend has also tried them on - she looked stunning! xx
What a fascinating video 📹 and what fabulous clothes....👑 You certainly had some wonderful Christmas Gifts 🎁🎁🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄😂 I wish you and the boys a VERY Happy New Year 🥳🐶🐶🐶 I will be looking forward to a year of more interesting videos 📹

Like you I am fascinated by the lives and times of British stars of stage and screen.I enjoy all of your videos and would love to learn more about the beautiful gowns and jackets as worn by Diana Dors. Hopefully someone will be able to confirm who designed the items you featured.
Thank you so much!!!! I'm currently waiting on an email which may possibly confirm one way or another whether or not they are Darnells - I'm very excited about it! xxxxxx
Another amazing tribute you provided. So well researched and your love for the subject always shines through. From one bombshell to another its another entertaining video youve shared with us ❤x
Oh my goodness....this looks great already ! And I'm commenting just 18 seconds in !😅 Couldn't help it ! 😆 I love the look of your home, and you look fabulous as usual ! 🤩 Plus, I love home-bars of any sort !! (even though I'm hardly a drinker; it's just the relaxing ambience that's wonderful🍸🍹)
I'll be lighting up the bar tomorrow night for our New Year get together - I can't wait! Believe it or not I rarely drink - but I do enjoy Champagne when my friend comes to visit for our Bombshell weekends and weekdays! It just looks so pretty all lit up in the evenings! xxxx
Great to see another video from you, and congrats on pulling together an amazing collection. Thanks for letting us see them. Hope you had a lovely Christmas, and very best wishes for the new year. Deb 🥰
Hi Deb! Thank you so much - I'm glad you enjoyed it! Christmas was truly wonderful - I hope yours was too xx I'm looking forward to the New Year - and I wish you a very Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous one! ♥♥♥
Another brilliant video. It's so odd to feel nostalgic for an era and its icons which happened when I was tiny and only interested in Butterscotch Angel Delight and wanting a dog. By sheer chance (or Shar chance) I recently unearthed a juicy quote by Diana whilst looking for something utterly unrelated. Here it is: "When The Asphalt Jungle, Marilyn Monroe`s first film was shown in Britain, a columnist actually wrote: `How much like our Diana Dors she is`." xx
BUTTERSCOTCH ANGEL DELIGHT!!! Now you're talking 😂 it really was my favourite! Did you get the dog? lol x Yes! That's true - Marilyn was compared to Diana - but sadly thereafter it was always the other way around - although Diana to some extent was to blame for that - she let Dennis take over her publicity in the 50s and he thought labelling her as 'England's Marilyn Monroe' would work wonders for her PR - it didn't - from there on in it made her feel second best and it was a label that she hated with a passion but it stuck fast! As a huge fan of Marilyn's I know that you couldn't actually get two more different women! they were exceedingly different! Thank you so much for watching the video! and I wish you a wonderful Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year! xxxxx
I really enjoyed that. There is something very poignant about touching and looking at clothes from someone who is gone, but still loved. That sounds a bit melancholy really, but I suppose it all depends on the person. Diana Dors clothes always seemed to show her confidence and comfort with her own appearance, and we all loved that about her. Her clothes were fun, and perhaps you feel a bit of that happiness when you wear them? I do hope so.
Thank you so much Kate! I sobbed like a baby when they arrived - It's not melancholy at all - I completely understand what you mean - trying them on they were a perfect fit - and there were happy vibes absolutely! xxxxx
Yes, yes, yes, please do more of these video's, this one was super interesting. I loved Diana Dors from me being kid, other than her films she was also on TV a lot in those days. For me, I see similarities in some of these clothes without labels leading me to think they were made by the same person, I don't know. Incidentally, the gloriously camp trouser suit Shirley Bassey was shown in is/was featured in a YoiTube video of it being donated to a London museum and their repair of it before putting it on display, it's interesting. There is also another video of her wearing it and singing in a Monaco show. As I said, this was a very interesting video about some of Diana's clothes and their outings. I'm so glad you got hold of the throne chair too, as a fan you must be well chuffed.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! I will be doing more - I think I will invite everyone into my 'Bombshell' room for a chat about Diana's jewels and accessories etc! 😀 I am hopefully on the trail of finding out if they are definitely Darnells - I'm currently awaiting an email! Shirley Bassey's trouser suit is just absolutely gorgeous! I'd love to go and see it - I think it might be the V&A? I believe she auctioned many of her dresses by Darnell recently. The Chair/Throne is my prized possession! I love it beyond words - when it was delivered and the guy opened up the van and I saw it sitting there in all its glory - I burst into tears and he went into a total panic - he thought I hated it 😂 nothing could be further from the truth - I was so emotional with happy tears lol xxxxx
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre ... Bless you, can't wait for your next installment. P.S. I don't know how to do video links, but if you haven't seen it, the Bassey cat suit video is still here under 'Debra Skinner - Dame Shirley Bassey - Restoration of the cat suit'. Hi Shar, you must spend so much time and effort (and money) tracking down memorabilia related to Diana Dors. I have always believed that after her death Alan Lake burned all her outfits on the lawn of their house. Obviously I’m wrong. As a retired graphic designer I do rather like the chair. This was a new departure for you and I hope you have all those fabulous outfits suitably insured and in fireproof containers. Thank you so much for uploading and giving us a wee peek at your collection.
I do 🤭 I love the collection - I have autographs, photos etc too - they’re so much fun! Alan burned his own suit I believe - which is probably where the myth came from - he wouldn’t let anyone touch Diana’s things after she died - he kept her dressing table in her bedroom exactly how she left it ❤️💔the chair is awesome! It is a different video but I will be resuming normal service in January 😊 xxxxx thank you for watching! Xx
Everyone thinks that - it's like Diana's Millions - another myth! I do think there are quite a few things out there still - I'd love to find them as you can imagine lol xxxxx
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre one of my hobbies is genealogy and in the thirty or so years I’ve been doing it I’ve learned that quite a few cherished family stories are untrue or greatly exaggerated. It’s a case of the old military order of “Send reinforcements, we’re going to advance,’” morphing into “Send three and fourpence, we’re going to a dance”.
Talking about myths I don’t know why I forgot this. I was at Benny Hill’s grave in Southampton in October. When he was buried there was a myth swirling around that he’d been buried with his money. An attempt was actually made to dig up his coffin. Underneath his grave stone is now a large block of concrete.
Hi Shar, good to see a different style of video. Truly fascinating and wonderful demonstration of your passion. My Mother was a catwalk model for Norman Hartnell in the late 40s along with my father’s sister. Both of whom were Lucy Clayton models. @@BeautifulBadandBizarre Great, i’ll look forward to that. I always liked Diana Dors. She was glamorous yet down to earth and i loved her acting. I chuckled when you mentioned The Amazing Mr Blunden the other day because i loved that film as a child and bought it on DVD a few years ago 😀
Oh!!!! I have it on DVD too - I thoroughly love that film and it's my Christmas must-watch! Diana loved playing Mrs Wickens - and I think that comes across in the film - it's just so fabulous and I love that she was never afraid to throw of the glamour - I'm a huge fan of Marilyn Monroe too - but I could never see her embracing a role like Mrs Wickens! 😂
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre No Marilyn was no Mrs Wickens 🤣 but Diana was a great character actress as shown in that film. It’s a pity Marilyn wasn’t with us longer. It would’ve been interesting to see what kind if film/tv roles she progressed to.
I completely agree with you - I would have loved to have seen where Marilyn would have gone in her career as she progressed! Ohhhh one of my favourite roles of Diana's was in 'Nurse Will Make It Better' have you seen that? It's another wicked Wickens type character - she was so good at those! xxxx
Yet again a wonderful video giving another insight behind the famous lady ........... Ps any chance of you doing a video about the late Freddie Mills who died / murdered in 1965.
Thank you. I always enjoyed watching Diana Dors on TV or in films. She came across as nice but naughty, which suited her personality. I loved the glamour, hair, jewellery and wonderful costumes. I loved how the designers made her look like she had such a tiny waist and long legs. Sadly this has gone out of fashion these days.
Diana truly had a captivating presence on screen, with a mix of niceness and naughtiness that suited her so well. Her glamorous style, from her hair to her jewellery and costumes, always left a lasting impression. It's true that the emphasis on tiny waists and long legs in fashion has shifted over time, but Diana's timeless elegance continues to inspire many. xxxx
Hello shar i hope your Christmas went well and thank you for a great video. Back in the 80s when I was courting my now ex wife, we used to go up town on a Saturday morning if she seen a top or dress she liked. Off to the material shop we would go. Pick the cloth and by 7.00pm I would have it ready for her to wear and off to the pub we would go. My daytime job was an engineer. I just liked making things out of anything stone wood metal and material. At school I used to help the girls do their sowing in class. The sowing came about because at home as a kid we didn’t have much money. And I used to teach my self how to use my mums old treadle Jones sowing machine. In the late 70s I made a lot of money as a kid by sowing seams into jeans to make them look expensive. Regarding the missing clothes you need to complete your collection you could have them made.
Oh wow Del!! You can’t imagine how much I wish I had the talent to make clothes! I’ve always wanted to be able to use a sewing machine but it’s totally out of my range! Sewing a button on is a challenge! Christmas was wonderful thank you! I hope yours was too and I wish you a very Happy New Year! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hi again my dad used to sell all sorts of things furniture house hold things and he would do bikes up clean them paint then sell them and at one point he also sold house hold plants and he would always drag me along to keep me out of trouble lol not that I got in trouble but it was a good life still miss it today thank you for saying what you said about my wife XX again looking forward to your next video
Oh - plants! My nan was a florist in London - I miss a lot about those days too, and I can't walk past a florist shop without thinking about my nan - the smell of flowers takes me right back there! I suppose it's a big part of why I'm so interested in what I do on this channel - it truly is like time travelling!
Well,as you said not one of your usual videos, and it was different. But like your normal output it was clear, considered and well researched. Not to forget your butter soft velvet voice over😊 Something I found out,it's all in the name. For years knew that Diana was married to Dickie Dawson 😊 However, Richard Dawson 😮 was someone I was aware of. From Hogan's Heroes ( tv) The Running Man ( film) and due to RUclips, early episodes of Family Feuds. Fashion note.Did you see last week, that a dress Liz Taylor gave away to a member of staff and left in her bedroom for years. Before being sold for £250,000 😮think it was a Dior?. Nothing like that in my wardrobe 😂😂😂. Shar we all wear clothes, but some lucky people WEAR clothes, they improve the cut,the style they just look good. Another brilliant video to re- watch. Many thanks for the entertainment xxxx Allan&Family PS Babysham,oh such things bring back memories
Ah!! Thank you Allan! After the whole episode in November, I wanted to do something different on this occasion - and I thoroughly enjoyed making the video! Richard, Dickie - well here is something for you - his name was Colin!!!! Just to confuse the issue a little more haha! Ohhhhhhh Elizabeth Taylor! When I was bidding for Diana's clothes there was a shirt that had been worn by Elizabeths that I really wanted in the auction - next time maybe 😂 The Babycham lol I have a lot of vintage glasses - I had quite a bit of furniture in there too until I got the chair - I moved everything out except the bar - as I felt the chair was everything that was needed lol xxxxxx
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre Thanks for getting back.I thought that builder offered you a chance to go look ? Yes me too i would love a glimpse of it but i think its been altered now.Did you see the video clip of Diana singing in her garden at night ? it was a pool party and Russell Harty was there.
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre I have a video of Diana cooking in her kitchen at Orchard Manor - have you seen it ? She makes Chilli con carne. I can send the link if you like.
I have to admit I ve never heard of Douglas Darnell. I can't remember if you mentioned this on another video, but was Diana's wardrobe auctioned off at some point after her death. As for Darnells designs, i wonder what happened to his pattern drawings after his death, they would probably answer a lot of questions you have. The sight of that babycham model reminds me of the TV ads from the 70s. Best wishes shar from Wales.
Hi Paul! No Diana's clothes were not auctioned off immediately after her death - it's a bit of a story and I'm currently writing about it! lol I'm also in touch with someone that I'm hoping will be able to either confirm that they are Darnells or not - I'm very excited and waiting to hear back from her! I love my little Babycham deers ☺😂 Happy New Year Paul! xxxxx
Joe Collins was wrong about Diana not being well endowed….dianas measurements were 38, 23, 36, Diana was a brilliant actress but her great acting talent was smothered in an image
Isn't it just fascinating how Joe Collins saw Diana Dors versus her actual measurements? Diana was such a talent, but everyone seemed fixated on her glamorous side rather than her acting ability Yet, she managed to break out of that bombshell box and deliver some real knockout performances. She had her fair share of career twists and turns. Like when Olivier offered her a role in a play, but Dennis, her husband back then, convinced her to go for variety shows because they paid better. Even though she was itching to do that play, Dennis held a lot of sway over her career choices. And then there's the role she passed on, which Rachel Roberts ended up snagging in "Saturday Night and Sunday Morning." Some might argue that was a missed opportunity. I would! Thanks for sharing your Diana Dors musings-I could chat about her for hours on end! xxxx
That vintage bar looks FAB. Reminds me of the one we had back home back in the 70's. Guess who was the junior barman ! My "Snowballs" have never been equalled...and we'll say no more on that subject Missus . (per "Francis Of The Howerd." Thank you very much! ) Anyhoo, here is a DD film, a "SAINT" film for you...if you haven't got it already sweetheart. X ruclips.net/video/741rFfAPowY/видео.html
Oh thank you!!! I am going to admit I have the Saint film on DVD ☺ I'm impressed to hear you're the Snowball expert 😂♥😂 my dad used to be rather good at making things years ago - and in the late 60s early 70s he made my nan a cocktail cabinet - I wonder if its still around lol xxxx
Hi Shar wicked video those dresses how did they stay up lol say no more that's a cool collection you have there you said you married in 1981 same as me now a widower and my dad had a stall on Portobello road looking forward to more videos always liked Diana dors sexy woman take care xx
Thank you for your comment! Actually, you have quite a point there Martin lol Diana was tiny in 1964 when the suit was worn - but she did wear it after she had Jason, when she began to put on weight - and there are telltale signs inside the clothing! It's the same with the Prince Charming Godmother dress - she wore that during three decades and each decade, she would have been a different size - but I do know she had a marvelous seamstress! Yes, I married in 1981 - I'm so sorry to hear you're a widower now ♥ So interesting to hear your dad had a stall on Portobello Road! What did he sell?
i love diana, drivig round swindon however to find the statue was horendous, , we gave up after 2 hours, is like to know abput her perfume and jewellry and her missing money
Oh my goodness!!! The statue! It is amazing - when I saw photos of it I wasn't that impressed - I didn't really think it looked like her but when I saw it in 'real life' WOW!!!! It is stunning! Definitely worth seeing - if you're in the area again! The story of her jewellery is quite fascinating - I will be doing something about it! Thank you so much for watching and for your lovely comment xxxxx
Paraphrasing the wonderful Kenny Everett - it will all be done in the 'best possible taste' 😂 Diana was a true inspiration and so very interesting in the actual fact of things as it were! xxxx
Hi shar great video Diana was so sexy wow..... Are the panthers not at orchard manor anymore? Has it been sold yet, would be great to look round cheers 🥂
Thank you so much Paul! Coincidently, I've just been told the panthers are still there and that the house hasn't been sold - although I thought it had sold the October before last - apparently not! I'm delighted to hear that it is still standing - I fear the developers will eventually pull it down - oh it would be a dream come true to have the opportuniity to even just step into the gardens - let alone the house! xxxxx

Thank you so much! I do love it! and yes Diana was indeed striking - I completely agree with you! xxxxx
Thank you for sharing all of those beautiful clothes such a thrill as I think Diana Dors was a beautiful woman with a beautiful figure ❤
Thank you so much! That is one of the thing I also love about Diana - she seemed very grounded without an over blown ego! xxxx
I Love Diana Dors.
Me too! xxxxx

Thank you so much for watching the video and for your lovely comment - it's so appreciated!

I hope your daughter enjoys the video - Diana had such extravagant tastes and so glamorous! xxxx
This was fun and informative. Loved it. Thanks for posting.
Glad you enjoyed the video! Thank you so much for watching xx

maybe you could find out the names of some of "les petites mains" who worked for Douglas Darnell. Judging from the pin story, he doesn't sound like the kind of guy who would have sewn on those 257,000 cerise colored sequins himself! they might have some insight into those with missing labels if they were young enough to still be alive today.
Great post, Shar - your patience has paid off!!

I love that "Be Naughty" sign! You're definitely a tonic.
That sign makes me happy every time I take out my Christmas decorations 😂☺😂☺😂
@TheRavenal yes she did - she wasn’t a fan of wearing them though - but she wore a short wig occasionally in cabaret in the 60s too xx
Thank you for sharing your Beautiful collection. How lucky you must feel having your Idol's personal belongings to look at every day . They are stunning dresses & the chair how did you find that ? I am truly amazed watching this video 👍
You're so welcome! @@BeautifulBadandBizarre I loved the video I know how special them things are to you .
I loved and grew up worshipping Fred dibnah till this day And i have a collection of his tools \ pulleys that can be seen in vids & photos and they mean the world to me having them .
That episode was 'Messenger of the Gods' now I am wondering where that orange dress went - I do believe the leopard coat was sold on eBay a few years ago - I saw it in the sold section - if I'd have seen it when the sale was live I wouldn't have hesitated to go for it lol
Adam had to wine and dine her apparently to get her to appear - she loved the star treatment - and they became great friends and he used to send her a postcard whenever he was on his travels and flowers regularly too by all accounts!
Yield to the Night was Diana's personal favourite - she felt it was the pinnacle of her career - at the time she thought she'd truly 'made it' but the quality scripts she was expecting after that film never arrived - sorry, if talking about Diana and her career was an Olympic sport I'd win gold every time - once I start it's hard to stop lol xxxx
Thank you for watching the video! xxxxx

Happy new year! and thank you too! XX
Great Collection. Really Good. Barney Glasgow. 😎

Have you ever worn any of the clothes? 🙂
Thank you so much Alison! Actually.... I got a 1968 Sindy for Christmas 😂 I have never been so happy on opening a gift! 😂😂😂 I hope you had some lovely presents too! I'll be back to my usual format in January with the videos! The boys and I send you lots of love and thank you again for your lovely comment! xxxxxxx
Thank you so much Edward! Diana is a great passion of mine! Your lovely comment has made my day - thank you for watching! xxxx
Oh my goodness....this looks great already ! And I'm commenting just 18 seconds in !😅 Couldn't help it ! 😆
I love the look of your home, and you look fabulous as usual !
It just looks so pretty all lit up in the evenings! xxxx

Got a few to watch at once, what a glorious few hours this will be
🙏🙏🙏
Just found the channel you got a new sub brilliant content
Thank you so much! and welcome aboard! xxxxx
Here it is:
"When The Asphalt Jungle, Marilyn Monroe`s first film was shown in Britain, a columnist actually wrote: `How much like our Diana Dors she is`."
xx
Thank you so much for watching the video! and I wish you a wonderful Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year! xxxxx
Great to see you shar great as always.👏👏
Thank you! xxxx
I sobbed like a baby when they arrived - It's not melancholy at all - I completely understand what you mean - trying them on they were a perfect fit - and there were happy vibes absolutely! xxxxx
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre 😉♥♥♥♥♥
I love it beyond words - when it was delivered and the guy opened up the van and I saw it sitting there in all its glory - I burst into tears and he went into a total panic - he thought I hated it 😂
nothing could be further from the truth - I was so emotional with happy tears lol xxxxx
You were right, it was a Darnell and in the V&A.
No I haven't - I'll search it - thank you! I follow @vamuseum on here - I love it! They have a great video about Lauren Bacall's Chanel Suit which I've watched possibly 3600 times 😂
For a while she was also on USA's 2nd highest selling poster. Welcome back!
Thank you so much! Oh I didn't know that - I am guessing a Marilyn poster was no.1 highest seller? xx
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre Or Betty Grable, as it was quite early in Diana's career.

Xx
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre the wrong end of the stick again! So hopefully there are more of her outfits to be discovered.
Thank you for sharing your collection and particularly the throne as that is magnificent and has a truly wonderful star to fill it in you.
Have a great New Year and I shall look forward to more of your wonderful videos. You capture the eras and personalities so well. Bringing back happy memories of these times. With much appreciation and love xx
Oh my goodness I love that your Mother and Aunt were both Lucy Clayton models - I am absolutely sure they had some fascinating stories to tell of those times! Which I for one would be interested to hear!
Thank you so much for your kind comment about the video - and the channel! I'm very grateful - and I hope you enjoy future videos - I'm madly excited about the next one I have planned - resuming my usual format!

Thank you so much! Ohhhhh! Yes!!!! Every chance! I've always been interested in Freddie - and I love a mystery - so it's very likely! xxxxxx
At school
I used to help the girls do their sowing in class.

I only discovered recently that Diana Dors was born in Swindon Wiltshire.
Yes she was! There is a blue plaque on the front of the house that was the nursing home where she was born! xxxx
