    This was so incredibly well done... Thank you for all of the time that you put into this. I appreciate you not just creating content for the sake of creating content, but really breaking down everything so cleanly and with as much detail as you did. I came here for some lighting tips and am leaving a new subscriber and potential client because of the way you put this all together-it shows you don't take shortcuts and that's what I look for in an artist. Cheers.

    What do you put your aperture, f-stop, and shutter speed at? I’ve got the same setup but I’m still learning the photography side of things. Thanks in advance for the great video!

    My artist uses a CPL on her iPhone and the pics weren't too bad, think I'll try and find one of those until I am tattooing full time.

    My biggest issue is lighting, I recently bought the same exact camera and lense as you. Can you share your setting so I can adjust it to around that? Thank you regardless man!

    • @gallosantiago4776
      @gallosantiago4776  2 года назад

      hey! great question but it definitely depends on the environment that you are shooting in substantially. id say for photos open the fstop as wide as your lens allows set your shutter to atleast 160th of a second and use the iso as needed. as far as the video setting same for the fstop but the shutter should be twice your frame rate, so if your shooting at 120 frames per second and then shutter should be about 250th of a second, finally using your iso as needed again. the exception here might be how bright it is but if you are using a similar lighting set up to me this should help 👍

    I have my set lso between 800-1600 and aperture around 1.8-2.5 and adjusting the shutter speed accordingly.(what works for me in with lighting in the room I have) I am still learing to play around with it but I find the higher the iso (brightness)..the lower the shutter speed relatively(how fast the pic is taken/amount of light captured through lense). The aperture i usually keep around 1.8-2.5 ( but can also affect the lighting, low aperture = more blur focus on foreground. Just what I noticed , not a professional as Im still learning in a room with lights not used to 🤦🏾‍♂️

    So my question is what is wrong with using photoshop, why wouldn't you want the photo to look as good as it possibly can, I'm not talking about making something that looks like crap magically look good, but a photographers job is to make something look as good as it possibly can.
    Every video I have seen about the subject is the same, but I personally believe you are all limiting yourself to making it your job instead of your art.
    And also, why don't you use backgrounds, its almost like you are trying to make it look like you don't prepare at all for the shoot!
    I am not criticizing, just trying to understand if this is what the client is asking for or if it is just the photographers perception of what is wanted.

    • @gallosantiago4776
      @gallosantiago4776  2 года назад +3

      great question ron! you are correct on your thought of photographers perception being the lens you are seeing it through, no pun intended. tattooing is something that has its own culture that you really grow into in a way to understand what can be misleading to a client or to other artist as to your capabilities and the actual finished product people are living with on their skin. the only thing im giving people when i (edit) is a quality but still realistic expectation of what will be on thier body while eliminating factors that low quality images (add) into the ability to see what is actually on the skin. such as glare and color tones that change the true appearance, what i dont want to give clients is an expectation that they will never see themselves s daily once they are wearing the piece for life. when i do photos as a photographer i definitely edit people to maybe remove factors that arent their for life, such as acne blemishes, etc. but even then i try to limit airbrushing and making someone look fake but i take candids not paid photoshoots where people expect high effort edits where people are paying to make themselves look much different than they look normally if that makes sense. so i know where you come from on the photography side of this question but as a tattooer its important to give an honest expectation of what people will see when they look at their own tattoo in person everyday. also as far as the background i prefer the esthetic of the more environmental feel my studio gives. its an honest representation of me and my surroundings and lets people into my studio in a sense. hope that helps 👍
