  • Short and simple video this week 🫡 I had a pretty hectic week and so it had been a few days since I was able to really sit down and check up on my plants closely, so I figured I'd film the process of checking on propagations, mother plants, anthurium pollination progress, etc etc!

Hi Alice! I’m such a fan of these hangout videos where we just get to listen to you and look at your gorgeous plants. These videos really are such a joy to watch (and listen to when I’m cooking)

As long as the media dries out the Phal will be fine. Don’t repot them very often. I leave my phals for 2-3 year but I use bark. Orchids are way more addicting. The phal looks good orchids for the most part are vastly slower growing than other plants. Not all of them but you won’t see huge growth like an Anthurium.

Carla spathes and spadices *do* turn green when successfully pollinated - i had a successful carla gph001 x ra5 pap harvest and now pending a carla x forgetii yield, berries are just starting to turn red. the lead time is so quick ~3 months, such a trooper.

My alocasia Jacquelyn lived in my terrarium (90-99% humidity) for a couple months then I moved it straight to my ambient conditions (~50-60% humidity) and it was much smaller than yours when I did that and it was fine!

My Jackalyn was gorgeous the day I brought her home. I put her next to a window and now she is yellowing 😮 I heard they don’t like bright light?

@@youdontevengrowhereJust got to your part about this plant. It 100% bleaches and I think it’s from the window. I bought mine from a nursery 2 weeks ago and it is in my bedroom in ambient air (49%-55%) humidity. I am fairly certain my issues is to much light.

When I first pot up, I don't like to see the roots. I used something to push roots into the media. When I see roots, I know the plant is doing well.

If those items in the propagation bin are ready to be taken out why don’t you start leaving the leave the bin open starting with a part of the day and increasing to totally off.

I think you should wait on the inflo that you did. I’ve heard that it make take months for berries to be ready and you may not seen anything for a couple months. Hang in there.

Usually I can see signs of a successful pollination within the first two weeks! But with these two I’m especially impatient 🥲

Don’t you use calmag for every watering? And why not cause I’m gonna get some calmag to add to my watering routine. Plus I’m trying silica, too.

I use it about once every 4 waterings! I probably could do it more often though
