So bright and happy! I'm not a beginner, and have been crocheting for a long time. But even experienced crocheters need a fast, no fuss, no muss project once in awhile! Thank you! I can hardly wait for the cardigan you showed in the thumbnail!
I wanted to second one of the comments below, I too am an advanced crocheter, but love these quick top ideas. I appreciate you using a #3. I prefer thinner yarns for my wearables. Thank you!
I enjoyed making this one so much because it was so quick and easy. So satisfying. I too love #3 yarn for wearables. It's more flowy and light. Thank you so much for the nice comment.
I’m working on a project called tanksntees, 2023 and this is going to be perfect. Thank you so much. I enjoy your videos very much and I’ve made many of your patterns.
i am thrilled i found you...you are such a good teacher, cant wait to make the cardigan that goes along with this top...God's continued blessings n your life...
Sylvia, I love the way you simplify instructions for your viewers to make the top where it will actually fit. I just finished a top in Lion Brand Coboo yarn where I found the shoulders weren't ling enough. I added a strip of this Linen stitch in the front to add length. It saved the day.... I usually wear my open work tops with a camisole top underneath for a little extra coverage.
HEY! I just wanted to let you know that I truly enjoy your site. It kills me, but I have been crocheting for years and have never used the stitch you showed us for this tank top. I so appreciate your patience and your “you can do it” attitude! I hope you never let anyone get you down because so many of us would have to do without a very special person. You are just so sweet and humble. Thanks for the time you put into your site. Susan
Oh my. This is so sweet. I appreciate your kind words more than I can say. I'm so happy you found a new stitch here! We are all always learning as we continue in our love of all things crochet. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment! Take care.
I think we get comfortable with a certain stitch... RUclips has opened up our insight that patterns we thought were so complicated really aren't. It sure has made it easier teaching my SouthPaw daughter to crochet.
I love this tank top.🌻 So tropical. Also an adorable piece for layering on chilly weather. Queuing this as one of my next project.☺ I must say that yellow becomes you. Thanks for another clear tutorial, Sylvia. Hope this finds you well.
Hi Sylvia!! Just wanted to let you know I had finished this top today!! Yayyyyy.... It's so cute and pretty 😍 I used cotton yarn with rosemary color. Thank you for sharing!! You're wonderful and appreciated ♥️
Absolutely! I enjoyed working with this lighter weight yarn so much I'm going to use #3 for my next wearable as well. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Yes, you can use a dk cotton yarn. HOwever if you change the stitch to something entirely different, the pattern will not work out. The stitch counts will be entirely different. I cannot help with that as I did not work it with a shell stitch. Thank you for watching!
I"ve already got you covered with the tank dress. Although a little different; I made it a tee shirt dress: ruclips.net/video/rDYs3cxbSA0/видео.html&si=EnSIkaIECMiOmarE
@@CrazyCoolCrochet that was actually the first pattern I found of yours 😍 but I am looking to make a tank top body con type dress. But I bet I could modify it to do so! I love both patterns thank you!!
Thanks so much for video! Just been trying it, I'm a beginner and didn't get one bit: to continue making the panel, after we turn, we are doing one side doing a crochet for every gap, and the other side - every 2and one? Is it correct? Thanks !
I wanted to reply right away because it sounds like you are working on this right now. Please watch and listen to the video carefully. I have explained and shown the instructions as clearly and simply as possible. For the first row you are entering a single crochet into each chain. Then for the 2nd row you are entering a single crochet in the first space (gap). You make one chain. You then skip the next space (gap). Work a single crochet into the next space. It is much easier to watch and listen to the video. I hope you can work it out.
@@CrazyCoolCrochet thank you so much for your time tonrepky, really appreciated ! Yes, I'm on it rigjt now. I watched the relevant bits of the video a few times, but still seem to miss something. About the one when we continue a row skipping on gap all the time. Didn't get if when turn we crochet through every gap of the row (except nuances at the beginning, that bit I got). I'll try again, thanks so much for all your work
I love the tutorial, but I can't get past the first chain because it will either twist or spiral. I've used a bigger hook for the first chain and use a correctsize hook for the rest, but I'm unsure of how to fix it. I'm not used to working with thin yarn either, so it's something I'm still learning. 🙂
Cotton yarn...I did cover that in the video. Please watch the video before you start working it. And no, I used acrylic but recommend cotton. Thank you so much for watching!
How do you add length? I understand that you would add rows but I'm a beginner. I want to make a swim coverup. The majority of the ideas I've seen, allow the swimsuit to be seen completely! That is why I want to adjust this.
As you said, add more rows to make it longer. However, to turn this into a swimsuit cover up, you should also make it wider. This is, by design, snug. To cover hips make it wider by adding chains to the foundation chain.
This is probably a silly question, but did you really use 3ounces of yarn for size small? That's equivalent to 28.3495 * 3 = 85g. It requires less yarn than I thought, so that'd be a good thing for me :).
It certainly should not be doing that. There is no increasing or decreasing. Same stitch count for every row. Stay consistent with where you enter your first and last stitches. Follow the video. Hope you can work it out.
@@CrazyCoolCrochet lol 😂 I do that a lot I will talk things out in my head and get my answer Or better yet I will talk about things someone else done but realize I am in the wrong to .. Anyhow What size was this shirt again u made
Oh boy. That would require a whole other pattern. You can stop at the underarm and decrease on both sides to create an armhole and then create a neck shaping and shoulders. Or you might continue from the underarm with a straight panel that is smaller by a few inches on each side (sl st to the desired point toward the center and continue the panel for as many inches as you need, then make the straps shorter).

Yes, for size Small it takes very little yarn.
This is probably a silly question but, how many rows did you do for the straps?
The rows for the straps will depend entirely on your own measurements. If give a certain number it will likely be too loose or too tight.
I am a beginner and I try to make this top how many balls I wool for xs / s
You will need 3 ounces of #3 yarn.
How many rows did you end up doing for the straps?
I didn't count rows for the straps. The measurement is given in the video. Thank you for watching!
Can this be made into a dress?
Sure, with adjustments to allow for additional width at the hips.
How did you determine where to put the straps?
You would put on the body of the top and measure how long the straps need to be.
@@CrazyCoolCrochet thank you
It seems to get smaller every round can you explain .thank you
It certainly should not be doing that. There is no increasing or decreasing. Same stitch count for every row. Stay consistent with where you enter your first and last stitches. Follow the video. Hope you can work it out.
How many skeins of yarn for small size?
Thank you for watching. I used 3 ounces of the yarn shown in the video.
So any weight 3 will work?
Yes, any #3 is fine, acrylic or cotton.
