Diesis may have beaten a “softer field” but that really was a great performance as a 2 year old in the prestigious Dewhurst. I don’t normally see horses smoke like that in the Dewhurst
@Jaymacgee There's so many theories about Gorytus, was he "got at", Did he have the virus or was he just a bit of a bottle job as a few have suggested? Just a shame because he looked a potential great in his first two races.
@@jaymacgee_A_Bawbag_Blethering Yeah, my uncle says that many believed that Gorytus was the next big thing based on his first two wins, but as I've seen there's just a few theories as to why he performed so badly as you can't really say with any certainly, although I think the one that Carson put forward a few years later, about him bottling it was a bit silly as he was never really in a position to bottle it, I used to believe he was got at but now just tend to be more with the virus theory as Hern's yard was suffering it at the time.
@@nightowl7459 the betting on the day was what prompted the “ got at “ theories nightowl , you couldn’t give him away on the day and he drifted like someone knew something . 👍🏴
@@jaymacgee_A_Bawbag_Blethering I must admit, I I hadn't taken the betting pattern into it, I had heard that they were quite confident of beating Diesis as one of Hern's other horses Orixso I think? Had gave Diesis a race and wasn't thought to be within 10 lengths of Gorytus on the gallops at West Ilsley.
There was a brilliant 2yold in ire called danzatore (Vincent O'Brien) pity didn't run in UK as significantly better than these imo. Didn't train on after lots of probs in winter/spring. His much less talented stablemate Lomond went on to win the 2000 guineas. Danzatore was significantly better at home and indeed on track. Tremendous winning the Beresford. Carson/eddery used to have bit of banter on winter holidays about them.
So cool to see this is my horses great grand sire .. awesome to watch
Wow .. that’s a great pedigree right enough
👍🏴

I had Diesis this day but clearly Gorytus had been got at .. shadow of his previous self and never really recovered

@@nightowl7459 yup ! I was excited about Diesis but feared Gorytus on his hard held impressive 2 wins ✊

definitely nobbled 100% reversed the form completely with Diesis in the 2000
If you look at Gorytus lead leg he can barely lift it off the ground
