The goal will always be Starchrom, as this is the only in game currency that matters to unlock new progression or abilities. I think people will just stop playing the game when they hit the max monthly starchrom limit. Unless Starry Studios provides new exciting content (not just cosmetics) to the game, I don't think this will be enough to retain the player base for other live service games... PoE2. I do hope they are able to bring more to the table for next year, but I really think they need a longer development life cycle for their seasonal game content to actually bring something out that doesn't feel half baked, or doesn't repeated formulas from past seasonal content.
I agree with you. Without long-lasting content, they can't retain players. However, they are also targeting the mobile audience, so they might get lazy when they see they're making much more money from the mobile version with less content.
We will figure out the best and most boring way to max grind starchrom or afk grind starchrom. Do that until capped. Stop playing for 1 month. I get what they are trying to do but it will not work out like they hope for most.
As I've answered in their surveys, they needed a longer open beta. The bugs that we found in closed beta are recurring to this day, for example, the one where the Warm/Cold requirement of the securement units are in conflict; or gathering points such as rocks and trees erupting in the middle of houses. The current state of the game feels like early access at most.
I only play what I find enjoyable. I don’t grind starcrom, I play and collect starcrom on the journey. I think having astrarems is a great idea and will keep many playing but tbh I just enjoy the game for what it is. Manibus hard for the second time though I did find myself at fifty yesterday so I was impressed. But I built a beautiful garden for cooking and now I will just explore places I haven’t spent much time in. However! I forgot to use my transfer points and bring some mint over for cocktails so my next job will be hunting for someone selling mint seeds 😂 I won’t be quitting anytime soon.
Starchrom changes may be useful for newer players. However older players (3-4 seasons in) really won't have much to spend. Starry may need to put more effort on producing and polishing new content over remaking systems and puking out gamble crates every few weeks. Way of Winter felt like half a season and most of us were done by Phase 3...
Yeah back when the game released I thought these resets meant we start from 0 on a new scenario with new content every few months. I actually didn't mind the idea at all but oh boy was I soon disappointed.. I quit in way of winter phase 3 and I don't know if I'm coming back.
Or it's something to help balance out the game while they work on rebalancing and fixing the game so it's fun ? What you want? Unbalanced gameplay and new maps or old maps with balancing gameplay?
All great with the Starchrome, but where do you spend it? In the Season Shop that has not been updated since the very beginning, or in the Wish Machine which becomes less and less relavant since they added the blueprint conversion?
The whole new currency is eh, but more starchrom is AMAZING cuz omg i struggle. And the blueprint changes also sound great. The only other thing they could make a bit easier is to find furniture/decor formulas, but that grind shall continue i guess. But thank you developers for making the game even more amazing
Somehow reminds me of FFXIV. The hardest dungeons are there as a challenge where the primary reward is its completion and cosmetics. You don’t like dungeons, you can skip em. Going full in on crafting is also rewarding with different cosmetics.
If say, you get Asterisms every time you defeat a world boss (Prime Wars or Chaos Weavers) with no cap, then I’ll be happy. Gathering eclipse cortexes is kinda tedious imo. This would let me focus on just having fun instead.
For me it's a relief and new aspect to the game. Another thing I'd like the devs to look into is the unlocked areas in phase 1 this is a but annoying imo and players are bored and waiting until the phase 2 hits
"This is also more starchrom than we ever been able to aquire in a month in a PvE scenario before". It is 25% less starchrom than we able to aquire in a month right now. Way of Winter is 7+8+10+10 days, minmaxing you skip first 14 days (you join the season on day 14, build the defence and do the purification on lvl3 cortexes from EL), so in the end you make 63800 - 4000 (lost purification from the week 1) = 59800 in 21 days. or 59800 / 21 x 31 = 89700 in a month if doing it back to back.
I'm not sure if that is accurate. The devs mentioned in their notes that it's the most Starchrom per month for PVE scenarios so that's why I included it. Here are Starchrom calculations for Manibus (hard) vs. The Way of Winter: www.reddit.com/r/OnceHumanOfficial/s/MYdfd5bClf (but these are totals for the whole scenario, not a monthly cadence)
NGL I hope we don't lose the long therm progression of power, because that was one of the major attractions of the game for me. Sure, cosmetics are nice, but there's not enough content to make the experience novel every couple weeks to hit endgame to unlock cosmetics I might not be interested in.
Oh great another currency. I'm all for balancing starchrom acquisition but I don't get why add yet another currency that you're going to exchange for starchrom anyway. Also, I'm pretty sure they're getting rid of blueprint power level progression in exchange for cosmetics. And I don't like that considering it's one of the things I enjoy and I've spent so much time on. Also, the cosmetics I've seen so far don't interest me at all.
How many currencies already exist in the game? Stella Planula, Sproutlets, Starchrom, about 5 different currencies used for buying cosmetics (Mitsuko Marks, some kind of key, a blue crystal, chrystgin, the direct bought for cash one….it is really disgusting how convoluted the developer is making menus to try to get people to spend money.
Who cares if someone chooses to grind for Starchrom instead of grinding for cosmetics? You do you, and let others play the way they want to play. Adding yet another currency on top of what is a confusing list of currencies already in the game is not making things easier for introducing players to the game. Battle Pass already has all the extra XP for doing all sorts of stuff in game, no need to add yet another currency. If they really feel the need to change something up, massage the Battle Pass.... maybe another tier to unlock that has more Starchrom if that is the ultimate intent of this Asterim stuff.
The players farm starchrome because it is THE ONLY THING to farm. Starchrome and mods. They really do not get it or they do NOT WANT TO. pPlayers need something to grind for. But give some nice rewards from monoliths silos and events. Some formulas, skins.. like other games do.. ex. Fallout 76 events..
This is to stop semi afk play. You can just chill and collect the majority of starchrom afk play. Do your weekly and get the server rewards. Do some achievements. That is it. Now you will have to be active to get it. All it will do its make people seek the most effective meta to earn starchrom per hour. Then they will need to nerf that.
you get to keep blueprints and stuff. in my opinion if this game had one long screnario forever, there would be nothing to do and you would have materials more than you can spend. "seasons" make the game more replayable if they can manage to add new content to play through.
@@lemmyrichards9477 sure i get that. personally im on my first season, and i have nothing to do currently, only to wait next phase. there is only so much to do until the last phase. and after that its just dead. so the new season basically makes it "new" again but with already gained blueprints/whatever you get to keep. like another games with seasons or resests every so often, like eft/diablo/poe/whatever else. Kinda just what the game is. if they dont come up with new content on new seasons game will die sooner or later. making one long season wont fix it because it gets boring instantly.

As a veteran I must say if devs get rid of star system it's gonna be move in right direction. Gap between newcomer with purple and veteran with *6 star gold is insane and unbreakable. It's not big problem in pve, but it's horrific problem in pvp. Some newcomers drop game after this, no new blood = no long life for game. Also just *6 star weapon and "playing with bigger number" is boring, and it's actually lead to powercreep. Veterans still have advantages like own skill, mods, calibration, and most important brain and knowledge. We'll see how it looks.
Well its kinda hard to play for enjoyment when everything is taken away from you again after 6 weeks except blueprints which u need starchrom for so.............................
but i love the idea of the new update but some people like me cant afford to buy this stuff in the game that id give my eye teeth to have the territory stuff
The limit capped at 66k per month, not tied to season/scenario. 66k starchrom per month is a lot compare to what we got currently by playing the whole 6 week of manibus scenario alone.
YEs grinding sucks but it is also rewarding. If they start handing everything to people then what will be the point of playing. There will be no challenge anymore.
Yeah I hate this, adding yet another currency and another level of BS because they don't like the way ppl play the game? Nah. The only goal I have is to upgrade BP's once you seen a location and the reused assets, after awhile the novelty wears off, menus are absolutely terrible (I can never find things, you have to go like 2 submenus and a button you always forget deep to find what you are looking for it feels like, take a week off, hell you gonna not find it again...) I think they should work on bugs, map mistakes, and new content, and leave it to the player to decide how they would like to play. I think this is a huge misstep and misallocation of their team resources. I might be wrong but if I am I will be wrong playin another game, easy. Many will say I am overreacting but the moment a company says I am playing their game wrong, "here like this, ok no we will force you to play it like we want you to" then they are failing on the most basic level as a game designer. Sure you can have an expectation and intention behind your design but if a large group of people just naturally do things, why make it more complicated or tell them they are doing it wrong?
there is no grind for starchrome before and now it will be as you get the new currency which you can grind for and then exchange it in to starchrome so what you saying is totally opposite
Agreed. Maximising Starchrom takes very little time apart from maybe trying to do 40 level 3 cortexes in the first week purification. Grinding to get Starchrom is exactly what this change will cause
is the 80k a confirmed amount or just an assumption? based on my exp plus my calculation, it is around 60k (57k for me) and that's for the whole 6 week of manibus scenario. the new system 66k limit cap is per month, not tied to season/scenario. that's a lot more starchrom we'll get. whether it's more grinding or not to reach that 66k cap is another story and we can only wait and see. if it good, lets keep it. if it bad, lets riot till they revert it back.
