- This video is a quick and simple how to guide on a complete oil service for a BMW F10. In this particular case it's a 535i with the N55 engine.
An oil service also includes your cabin air filter, so don't forget about that thing.
The N55 engine takes about 6,5 liter of engine oil. Usually, I add 6 liter, then measure, and add another half liter if necessary. Also, I always carry another liter in the trunk in case it runs low when I'm out.
Before anyone asks, yes you can put a light film of oil on the o-ring of the oil filter cap.

I was always told to wet the 2 rubber gaskets with new oil before install to make a proper seal and prevent leaks.
yes you can do that. it doesn't affect the quality of the seal but makes it easier to mount it without risking that the ring might get stuck and fold, hence creating a leak. I also learned to add a dap of oil to it but forget about it once in a while.

nope. not an issue as long as the level sensor is working^^ but yea a dip stick would be nice
How did you start car without adding oil? Must of forgot to edit in video.
battery died and i noticed too late. but yea, oil needs to go in before you start^^
535i f10 doesn't have a fuel filter?
it does. but you don't change it with every oil change. used to be at the inspection II but I change my fuel filter every 50-60k miles
@@BONDGarage Got you now, just got a 535i and i am planning to do a full service to it this year, doesn't ask for one till December but better early than late :D
@@loyd4you I'll do a major overhaul as well later this year. fuel filter will be a part of that as well..
how many miles does it have? every time I get a new used car I'm changing all fluids and filter just to have a somewhat clean basis to start of.
@@BONDGarage Mine has nearly 49k miles, it has service history online, it got serviced at bmw but i just wanna make sure like you said that i have a base to stand on.
@@loyd4you that's pretty low miles. Go for it! It'll give you the peace of mind
