You never have to apologize, you're humble and a professional, and you're the best . Thank you, I'm super grateful for your knowledge and experience ! Stay Safe !!
JJ dont ever apologize - your videos are pure gold. I love hearing your commentary at the scene about tactics and equipment, its like listening to my dad when he was a line officer and running the fire ground.
John at this point in time the NYFD may as well make you an honorary member for the sake of filming purposes considering your with them at probably 75% of their fires anyway. We your loyal viewers ty for filming these fires, even the ones that are quickly knocked down with little to nothing to see. Keep up the good work and stay safe out there my friend.
I love how you explain fire behaviour and tactics. My brother owns a fire protection company, inspections and extinguishers, sprinkler system maintenance and fire alarm testing etc & most ppl don't know how fire has a mind of its own & how fighting it requires tactics not just water..
INTEGRITY, RESPECT! IS WHY YOU APOLOGIZE SO MUCH ! THATS WHY WE ARE HERE DAY IN AND DAY OUT ! YOUR THE BEST ! WALKING AROUND THE FIRE GROUND WAS DECENT ! "TOP SHELF" ! 🇺🇲
Chief of Ops Esposito can be proud of entire team working together at DOT yard fire. Suppression crews, SOC Logistics, Super Pumper 1 and Satellite trucks, Marine units, Command Tactical and the drone boys, Medical Branch. Of course, the RACs keeping everyone hydrated. Super interesting video. Thank you for being there and making a super video. I hope you later on got some hot coffee and dried-out feet when you were home. 👍👍👍👍👍👍😀😀😀😀🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒
Shout out to the company that inspects this building. It was nice to hear a complete list of the hazards that would be encountered here. Good CIDS report!
Your commentary is above all others on any subject!! Information, suspense, and the usual Squad 99 humor!! Awesome, JJ! I have never seen so much equipment. I would be surprised if members weren’t injured simply by tripping over hoses or getting knocked down by wandering rigs! I have no idea how everyone keeps control of where’s what and who’s who! Bravo all Chiefs! I could write more (as you know😁), but I will not impose! Take care of the tummy and the feets! 🚒❤️🔥🚒
The units from SOC that are marked as HS 1 and HS 2 are the hydro sub units. They are not generating units as they do not produce electricity. It’s actually a diesel engine driven hydraulic oil pump that in turn drives submersible pumps through hydraulic hoses. The submersible pumps have 8” discharge and that is the large black hose you see. It doesn’t look like they used the super pumper. So people have asked if the hydro subs are part of the super pumper. The short answer is no. However the can be used to supply it. It can also be supplied by a marine company, or multiple hydrants. In short whatever water supplies are available at a given incident.
Great Job JJ. this was a bad Fire, glad no one was hurt, you need to carry a pair Boots with you and extrapair of Socks, you can pick up a pair muck Boots fairly cheep, will help a lot with winter just around corner too. Stay Safe Bro ❤☮
JJ, don't ever apologize for anything in your videos! Dude, you're out there in all kinds of weather, putting up with smoke, heat, and nasty winter weather to bring us some of the best fire videos on here. ❤ Having said that, I can tell you that those glass block windows are a real bitchkitty to break!
I HAVE SINCE HEARD AND LEARNED ALL ABOUT THE GLASS BLOCKS.....HEHEHE.....AS FOR THE REST OF YOUR COMMENT THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE KIND WORDS AND SUPPORT TERRI.....
Thank you so much, JJ. It's awesome to see how a big fire like this is handled by the Bravest. I imagine a fire at a DOT warehouse like this kept the Hazmat guys hopping all night long.
Great job by the brothers keeping this fire contained. Shout out to the marine and SOC units. FDNY getting it done. Thanks for all the footage JJ. Hope your feet are dry!
Very hard fire to cover due to the large size of the building. You did excellent covering the fire & explaining what was going on Thank you John for your excellent work --- Debbie
This was a major operation wow great job 👍...the heat and humidity is awful.. major dehydration need the rak cat drink up.. God Bless the members...same to you stay safe take care another great video 📸👍
John the super pumper need those huge pumps on the back of the pickup trucks to supply it with water. This is because a hydrant could never get enough pressure to it. From there it can flow all of us nozzles and supply other units. I think it was Skyler Fire or one of the other guys out there had a video of them training with it. It can only operate near a river.
The Super Pumper can draft by itself from a water source such as the bay, however higher flows can be generated by "priming" it by supplying it from high volume pumps upstream. Drafting by itself it is rated at 5500 GPM, if supplied by pressurized pumps in addition, it can deliver over 10,000 GPM. In this case they just went with the high output pumps alone.
They actually had a Firenado out West a few years back that was rated an EF-3 on the enhanced Fujita Scale; huge event. It was the Carr Fire and there's video of it on this channel.
Great work on this video John. I wanted to learn more about the new Super Pumper 1. I searched and I found a video on FireFighter National about it made by you. You are everywhere! We all need to get you a pair of Firefighter boots. Thanks John and Stay safe and healthy.
Coming from a non-firefighter listening to the coms, this sounded like a well coordinated, smooth operation compared to other ops. Kudos! and Kudos to you JJ for giving a well coordinated video showing many different puzzle pieces as you could find. wish I could have seen your face when everyone booked from their positions when you least expected it! Lol Take care. Eat and rest well from Hawaii much Aloha Brah!!
Hi JJ great job always. Thought I would suggest you have rain boots in the car so you could change quickly like our fellow firemen do. So you could stay comfy and dry while filming. Stay safe!!☺️👨🏻🚒
Its time for a set of real bunker boots for you! You provide a great service to the city and your subscribers. My father loves all your videos, especially, now that you have radio communications. Keep up the good work!
Great video JJ. Put you a spare pair of socks and shoes in the squad and a towel for those days you get your feet wet or get a pair of those new turnout boots everyone is talking about. They’re waterproof and look like standard work boots. Anyhow great video here and another fine job by the FDNY. NYC is damn lucky to have them.
Never need to apologise for anything it’s ever changing operation so things change so quickly as one of your long term followers here we understand that things get confusing sometimes plus it’s nice that you repeat things again
I enjoy your videos much more than the others. I appreciate the fact that you give information about the situation that’s going on. You do a very good job. Thanks for all your time and effort you put into your videos
John what an awesome video. FDNY has more things to use for these large fires and I think you captured them all. I thank you for that. I've never seen so many different things being used or brought to a fire. So interesting to watch. As we say never be sorry. You do such a fabulous job showing everything you can and showing how awesome the FDNY is. Again awesome awesome video...🤗🤗
Wow.. fantastic commentary and a mine of information for us all 10/10 at these fires, its totally different to what goes on in the UK, what happens in the US never happens here, where you are allowed to travel round the fire site recording, in the UK you would be exluded, saying that you sound like your well favoured among the top brass. Great video, stay safe Pal. By the way those pumps/compressors, we have in the uk, they are called high volume pumps
Hiya JJ I’ve only recently discovered your RUclips channel & I love what you do & like everyone else is saying, please don’t apologise. Everything you explain is so helpful to me in trying to figure out who’s doing what & why….. you’re great at what you do, thank you so much & keep safe 💕
Squad 99 on scene. Another great video John. Sorry we didn't see the super pumper in operation. They should look into putting Dry hydrants along the wall where the river buts up against the wall. So the department can hook right up to them instead of bringing a marine unit in close. Long and hot night for FDNY. Stay safe.
Another great video. Someone else may have mentioned this. Those windows that you mentioned looked to be glass block. Unlike regular windows that you see them blast out, glass block are thick glass with an airspace between and cemented together into the frame. They are a real bear to break out. It can be done, but it takes quite a while. I need to research the "super pumper" to see just what that is. Some fires don't give you spectacular views. You did great showing the operations.
Love this video watching different operations not at the fire is interesting too. Imo these firefighters r just as vital. W out tht water those tower ladders struggle.
If people complain about anything, they have been living under a rock. It is so strange that there are basically very few, if any, fire hydrants around a govt. building. That's ridiculous! Skylerfire knows how the super pumper works. He did a whole Fleet Friday episode on that equipment. In early June of this year. Was very interesting epiesode. As for this fire they seem very disorganized trying set up this equipment. The FDNY did a great job knocking down the majority of raging fire. They are always great!! The request of the Command to one of the engines, where it was asked where they were operating and reply we are not operating. That made me smile. This whole operation is crazy. Not in a bad way. There needs to a change of more hydrants here. The city needs to wake up and change this!! I want to thank the FDNY and EMS and wish them Blessings for everything they do. They literally are the best. I want to send you, John blessings for the fantastic job you do. I am sorry your " Feets got wet and the tummy needs grub." Prayers to the members were injured. Everyone please stay safe.
Awesome coverage, you sure got some exercise on this one. Gonna be lots of repair work on this building, maybe they'll think about installing a sprinkler system this time around.🤯🙄
JJ he supper pumper uses those two hydraulic pumps to pump water out of the river to the supper pumper. Each of those hydraulic pumps supplies water via those 10-inch black hoses. You called them generators, but they are generators the run hydraulic pumps with lines that go down to the pump in the water. One ten-inch line can be split into two six-inch lines or reduced down to one six-inch line, to supply engines or trucks, or the ten-inch line goes directly into the supper pumper. Hope that gives you a little insight into how it works. It is a cool setup if you ever get to see it. The set up of the total system takes a while to get all the working parts in place. Thanks or ll your great work and please keep it up.
Thank you 🙏 JJ, I know it’s just Human Respect for one to apologize while doing a service of great deed but, everyone’s correct your bringing us news that otherwise we might not ever see if it wasn’t for special individuals like yourself who’s giving his time while starving, soak and wet and exhausted so thank you so much Bro’ I once again appreciate all you do may God watch over you and keep you safe 🇺🇸🙏❤🫵.
Brother it's not always the fire but this was also great coverage of operations , I enjoyed how you mixed it up showing different things. Take care abd be safe. Greg
Hell JJ....I gotta tell ya and I'm not gonna lie.... you are the best as I have watched other videos and you by far is the best. I'm ALWAYS looking for your videos to watch. I LOVE your commentaries and humor. No other photographer gives so much information as you do. This is why I love your vids the best. You provide as much info as you possibly can and you strive for the best viewing spot so viewers can see what's going on not just from the ground level but from high above. I commend you for all your hard work & efforts. You even stay as long as you can. In fact, another reason why I love your vids is your vids are not short and brief. You provide as much details and video as you can get no mater how long you need to be at the scene. Take care of your soaking feet and feed your hungry tummy!!!! HUGS!!!❤ 😊
Wet feet are uncomfortable and you have to watchout for blisters, but they are one of the best ways to cool off when the temps are so high. When you wander around not sure where to go next it is fine. That gives us a good feel for how confusing the situation is. Trucks everywhere, lines everywhere and groups of firefighters everywhere. When you have such a large building inside a fenced crowded area with very little room to move equipment around it is a hard place to work and all of you are doing a great job. Once again, they make waterproof, comfortable walking shoes that breathe, lots of styles and colors but you do need to catch them on sale.
I would like to express my support and appreciation for the men and women of the FDNY from the commissioner and Chief Exposito on down to the ones that are just as important. Not to mention the technology employed(drones, laptops, etc).Even if you are not a resident of the Big Apple(like I am in Boulder, Colorado),show your support by send a appreciation of thanks and love for what they do 24/7/365,and they will thank you immensely And thanks,as always,John, appreciate it.😊😊😊😊😊❤😊❤😊
Yup, that’s right!! You are the ultimate pro and please don’t apologize, we all get it! We all have been with you long enough to know, so no worries! Just stay safe and cool, and go eat!!! Lol It’s so hot here to, in Baltimore County!! 95, typical east coast!! HUMIDITY!!! Love to you John, one of your loyal sub’s! ❤😊👍🏻🙏
Another fabulous job, J.J.!! Fire itself not as visually spectacular as expected, but I REALLY was fascinated with your documentation of the Marine unit, Satellite and portable generators/pumps. Hope you didn’t make yourself Ill bringing it to us in those conditions.
I think the generator you refer too is a hydraulic unit. They put a hydraulic pump at the end of the hose, the 2 small lines supply a submersible pump that pumps water into the large black line. Looks like the units I have seen used in Europe on Videos when they need big water.
Use an electric pump to draw water from the bay. Generators supply the electricity for the submerged pump (24vapparently). They are part of super operation. Super has deck gun not necessary in this fire.
Those black lines feed a pump for high volume of water. I actually watched videos on there power and I don't think they need the super pumper. Just my thoughts. J you need to carry a bag with rubber boots I and many others have said this for years. Love your videos and want you around for a longtime
At least the city is sure to find other working locations for the employees who worked at this facility. Private sector employees would have been canned.
There's nothing that can be sad that hasn't bene just posted. We saw and was told everything that was going on. Boats, Drones, Pumpers,,Ladder Trucks, EMS, and the famous RAC s. BUT no PM (poop mobiles) for those who need to go .😂 😢😮😊Love your work. Leo
I sit and watch and then wait for the wet feet, John why don't you at least keep rubber boots in your car cause you must be going through a lot of shoes. BUT you still get awesome video's, thanks.
It amazes me that this doesn't look like a 5 alarm fire. Of course I have no idea what's going on inside the building. If FDNY rolls out 5 alarms, it's 5 alarms!
To be honest, I agree. However, there are multiple factors that contribute to an alarm being called in this video. One of them being not enough water to supply the companies. If you have more resources, then you could have more water and men to work with to make sure there is a steady supply.
Great job of commentary and video as always. It surprised me to hear that you were frazzled and didn't know what was going on. Never heard you say that before. I laughed when you said "where'd everyone go". You don't ever have to apologize for apologizing or repeating yourself, you're allowed. I always appreciate you going above and beyond. You are a great example of good work ethics. You need to keep extra socks and shoes in your car and where do you go for grub at 3am. This was a huge operation and FDNY knocked it out as always. Keep safe and looking forward to the next one. Oh...btw, any chance you'll do another live?
Squad 99 I have been watching this on and off since this morning was listening to this operation on the NYC FireWire and was getting my updates from field comm but great coverage my friend you and Skyler both rock!! The Tower Ladders we’re kicking some butt last night 2N2 my friend 1:25:56
Thanks, JJ! What is it with NYC Wharehouses? Didn't a NYPD Evidence wharehouse go up in Brooklyn a short time ago? Very complex situation that seemed to be hampered by water issues. Again, an incredible array of FDNY resources to fight this fire. I was wondering about the windows, but they seemed to be constructed of glass brick. They are not going to be broken easily. Thanks for hanging in there
You never have to apologize, you're humble and a professional, and you're the best . Thank you, I'm super grateful for your knowledge and experience ! Stay Safe !!
couldn’t agree more with that statement. keep up the great work, JJ!
Yes he is

You always float through the scene seamlessly never in the way always respectful you do a good job out there 🍻

Thank you as always for the great job in covering this 5th alarm. But then your coverage of ALL FDNY operations is superb.

That was so mismanaged... was a mess.
John, you are truly the best! Top notch professional coverage. Great job as always by FDNY as always.
Yes indeed he is the best.!!!! 2nd to no one. Period.!!!❤
Great job by the brothers keeping this fire contained. Shout out to the marine and SOC units. FDNY getting it done. Thanks for all the footage JJ. Hope your feet are dry!
Wow I saw units there I have never seen before. Good catch John and thanks for all you do.
YES, LOTS OF RARE STUFF AT THIS FIRE DAVID....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Very hard fire to cover due to the large size of the building. You did excellent covering the fire & explaining what was going on Thank you John for your excellent work --- Debbie

Awesome job!! That is one hell of a fire they had their hands full. It’s a miracle nobody got hurt seriously.
Awesome job thank you for doing what you do!!

40:20. I was impressed to see a black woman in the bucket working on demoing the door. Good work miss. She was working her butt off.
OK.....THANKS SO MUCH.....

Great video
another great video my friend those pumps are run by hyd. it will more a lot of water they use units like this in England
Another fabulous job, J.J.!! Fire itself not as visually spectacular as expected, but I REALLY was fascinated with your documentation of the Marine unit, Satellite and portable generators/pumps. Hope you didn’t make yourself Ill bringing it to us in those conditions.
Great video jj
I think the generator you refer too is a hydraulic unit. They put a hydraulic pump at the end of the hose, the 2 small lines supply a submersible pump that pumps water into the large black line. Looks like the units I have seen used in Europe on Videos when they need big water.
Use an electric pump to draw water from the bay. Generators supply the electricity for the submerged pump (24vapparently). They are part of super operation. Super has deck gun not necessary in this fire.
Do they flush out their lines and systems with fresh-water after using the salt water?
I AM NOT SURE.....GOOD QUESTION.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
you should have seen the old supper pumper built by Macks in Allentown Pa it was a 2 piece4 set up
I WILL TRY ONE DAY TO GO SEE IT.....IT IS MICHIGAN SOMEWHERE NOW.....THANKS SO MUCH JIM.....
Thank goodness it is only a single story structure! Take any positive you can in a big fire like this.
If I see right the windows are those thick glass cubes. If yes they are hard to break, but the fire crews have the tools.
YES INDEED ON BOTH YOUR POINTS.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
FDNY💪great coverage and content. 👍
Those black lines feed a pump for high volume of water. I actually watched videos on there power and I don't think they need the super pumper. Just my thoughts. J you need to carry a bag with rubber boots I and many others have said this for years. Love your videos and want you around for a longtime
I HEAR YA AND UNDERSTAND.....AND YES I NEED BOOTS FOR SURE.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
John you need to get a pair of boots!!!!
That super pumper is one bad ass pumper
IT IS INDEED.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Hi John this is mark ostrowski my friend Robbie and Lindsey was watching you show
At least the city is sure to find other working locations for the employees who worked at this facility.
Great coverage sir!
To be honest, I agree. However, there are multiple factors that contribute to an alarm being called in this video. One of them being not enough water to supply the companies. If you have more resources, then you could have more water and men to work with to make sure there is a steady supply.
Fire takes no holiday
THAT IS CORRECT JIM.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
You are a great example of
good work ethics.
Very nice! You dont see that opps everyday!
Thanks for hanging in there
What happened to that pick-up with the water? Was that water coming out of the truck or were they over a storm drain that took on too much water?
A big operation, nice comment, not much fire lol but a lot off nice footage John.
