Second, The talk about japan is ironic because Japanese people are currently angry as hell with their government/work culture and also women don't feel the same sense of safety. They have just been innovative in ways that over in the u.s. we make look less fresh or don't appreciate because our society is so led by reactive fear vs pre-emptive fear. Just interesting to see the differences and the positives to negatives of both areas.
One thing that the states might have over Japan is a more laidback work culture. The work culture in Japan is a lot more harsh and demanding. There’s definitely places similar to that in the states, but I’ve heard of some businesses implementing nap pods to encourage their employees to sleep on the job to help them boost productivity.

I'm from Taiwan (which is societally pretty much Japan but less conservative) and in Taipei the worst things I'm worried about is the occasional pickpocket and bad drivers. Meanwhile I moved to the bay and bro I'm constantly on edge. People try to steal my shit all the time, some crackhead stole the handlebars off of my bike, and everybody could have a gun at any time. People get fucking mugged on college campus and people get shot like every week. America is so much more dangerous to me comparatively, it must feel to me how Americans must feel in non-resort Mexico on a relative scale. What's good about America? The income and education. That's literally it. The ceiling in America is crazy high, but the societal floor is crazy low, where as in Asia the societal floor is really high but the ceiling is not very high in comparison.
The one thing I thought the US had over Asia was diversity. There's power and value in having different ideas and perspectives, and I think that's where the US shines

16:16 tbh the made in china evisu feels mehhh. Previously I went to evisu in Taiwan and in Singapore and was shocked at how expensive the made in china jeans are. Now I am in Osaka and I didn't even see one made in Japan item in the evisu store. Just disappointing. Furthermore, the made in china denim feels worse than a "crafted" pair of Levi's ( made in Turkey). There is no reason to buy evisu jeans in Japan for something like 350 bucks besides the name Evisu. If you are in Japan you can get great pairs of jeans from momotaro or other brands like sugar cane, samurai, oni or if you want to cheap out maybe naked and famous. Those are all top quality jeans where they adjust the length of the legs to your liking instore (20mins) for +-150 USD. New Evisu now just feels like a tourist brand for rich Chinese kinds... Sadly Pickups are dope Afterall and Evisu helped start the whole Japanese denim thing that we see today, but it's just sad to see all the og Japanese brands selling out to China.
