REAL WORKROOMS -- Winston's Workroom

Filmed in 2024 at Winston's Workroom, LLC, in North Carolina, Jessie Lee Miller shares the story of how she converted her garage into a workroom wonderland. Susan Woodcock joins her for the tour and even demos a World War II relic sewing machine which was repurposed for drapery pleating. Workrooms will be envious of Jessie Lee's thrifted fabric inspection machine. Complete with touches from each of her doting grandparents, every element of the space is designed for efficiency and style.

Wow! I had a workroom in my basement and then moved it to a small retail store. This was from 1986 till 1992. You are so well organized. I could have worked with you back then. But you were probably a kid! Nice job organizing

beautiful workroom , which type of lighting did you use?

Hi! I thought a lot about lighting in this space. I have 12 lights equally spaced across the workroom - and they are split to operate on 2 zones (6 inner and 6 outer). All are on dimmers. I chose a 16" LED light that mounts flush to the ceiling. You can choose the color temperature that the fixture emits, and I believe that the color rendering index of the light is pretty accurate. I purchased the lights from Home Depot a few years ago.
