    Great puzzle. Thanks for sharing. Like the idea of the dwarf's image reflected in the sword. Love the mini display shadowbox behind you.

      Ah, thank you Echo! Glad you liked the ideas! And, super cool that your RUclips username is the same name as the bird in the video, lol. Ah, yes... the mini display box was actually a Super Bowl 50 Display case I picked up for $8. One of my favorite pickups of all time. Anyways... thanx for watching. Cheers!

    I think your video explanation and demonstration is better than the puzzle. I still think you should make a video on all the puzzles in Tasha's. Great video mate.

    • @WallyDM
      @WallyDM  3 года назад +1

      Thank you my friend. I am going to use the idea you had and create a playlist for these. It may take a bit, but, I'll definitely try to do a video for all 13 of these. Cheers!

      @@WallyDM Should save you time coming up with new puzzles. Although I think your going to have to simplify the puzzles in Tasha's, so people can use them.

    • @WallyDM
      @WallyDM  3 года назад +1

      @@HowtoRPG I definitely agree. If the rest of the puzzles in Tasha's are anything like the Display of Daggers, they might be very confusing. I'm hoping that folks will find my demonstrations/explanations of Tasha's puzzles easier to use. Thank you my friend!

    I like that it also works with "Torag" (the Pathfinder equivalent to this God).

    • @WallyDM
      @WallyDM  3 года назад

      Oh nice! Absolutely. We could definitely change the code to match Torag. Ya know, I really need to brush up on my Pathfinder gods.

    Huh this is interesting for sure. I think this shows potential as far as what they can do with tashas. If definitely wont be your puzzle book of quality but I think it will be decently solid. As always great presentation of the puzzle as a dm I know I'd forget to mention a key component here lol

    My PCs would probably steal Soulkeeper, loot what they can from the shop, and leave, consequences be damned.... I'd be inclined to let them since this puzzle does feel a bit extra. I'm having trouble conceiving why spelling anything with the daggers would do anything useful. I'd likely forgo the daggers entirely in favor of a Moradin statue in the shop. The symbols that make up the cipher could be present on sliding dials on the statue. Upon setting the dials to the correct sequence, I would reveal a secret compartment holding a scroll to unbind souls from objects. Failing any proper spellcasters in the party, I'd make it a simple unbinding scroll anyone can read if they know the language.
    To increase difficulty slightly, I might make the anvil have the secret compartment.
    Although, I have Tasha's Cauldron and do not see this in the book. Seeing as this was released as a taste of the content, could it be it was so poorly received they decided to remove it? Or is it simply not in the puzzles section?

    • @WallyDM
      @WallyDM  3 года назад

      Ah yes, this is definitely one of the unforeseen results of most parties. Heck with the dwarf, we are gonna steal his stuff. lol.
      But all things aside... yeah, I thought this puzzle was supposed to be in Tasha's and I was absolutely stunned that they did not include it. I guess they just intended it as a freebie for those wanting a preview of similar things to come. Of course, you may be correct on it being poorly received. It has so many holes in the way to run it that they just decided there was no fixing it and might as well leave it out of the book.
      Who knows... maybe Wizards will contact me the next time they want to do puzzles in a book. lol. I can only hope! Anyway, cheers!

    I have to be REALLY careful with *any* puzzle with animals. I have a player who casts "Speak with Animals" as often as a dwarf orders ale!

    • @WallyDM
      @WallyDM  2 года назад

      lol, I can see where that can make things too easy, for sure.

  • @blanktester
    @blanktester 3 года назад +4

    This puzzle seems a little contrived, tbh. Spelling out the name in daggers seems like it would have no purpose in universe. My players would probably get nitpicky about that.

    • @WallyDM
      @WallyDM  3 года назад +3

      Honestly, I can't disagree with you. As I was recording the video, the dagger part of the puzzle did feel a bit wonky. I think there could definitely be a different method of inserting the answer / solve the puzzle. I mean, the daggers work, but I feel that DMs could definitely come up with an alternative way to input the solution. Fantastic feedback on this, thank you. Cheers!

    • @InquisitorThorn
      @InquisitorThorn 3 года назад +2

      I think that figuring out the activation word/phrase for Soulkeeper should be the final goal. Perhaps it's in code under the illustration of the sword.

    • @blanktester
      @blanktester 3 года назад +2

      @@InquisitorThorn yeah, simply speaking the activation phrase seems like a good solution rather than spelling it out. Then again, why wouldn't a sword meant to protect its wielder have some way out from the inside? It's a little weird. Still, I'm glad you made a video for this one so I knew about your book and Tasha's pdf.

    Awesome puzzle. Will definitely run it. I love the bird giving a clue but I've got a druid in the party which will probably just speak with animal. Going to have to take some liberty and work around that. Any ideas or suggestions?

    • @WallyDM
      @WallyDM  3 года назад

      Awesome! Hope this runs well for you in your game. And... absolutely. I would make the bird a clockwork toy or a mechanical figure. That makes it a construct... not an animal. Hope that helps!

    This is great, but what I want to know is where did you get those Lego looking stone walls from?

    • @WallyDM
      @WallyDM  3 года назад +1

      Ah, yes. Sure thing Randall. Those blocks are from a game called "Crossbows and Catapults". One of my favorite games as a kid. You build a castle wall to protect your Tower and flags and then use rubber-band operated crossbows or catapults to destroy each others castles. Was super fun back in the day.

    I love your work man, but my OCD gets tweaked when you're sitting in your room.. You are just a bit out of focus and everything has a fuzz around it. I think it would probably help your videos if you could sharpen / fix the focus a bit! Just some constructive criticism, already bought your puzzle book! Keep up the good work man!

      Hey there John, thank you for buying the book, hope you are enjoying it! :-)... Also, thank you for this message. I've known for a while now that I need to update my camera. The Nikon d3200 I use does not focus for me and I have been in dire need of an upgrade. Talked it over with the Mrs. and we agreed that a new camera to celebrate 10K subscribers is in order. Looking at a Canon M50... hope to have it soon!
