Once again, only Merriam & Stu are able to produce the best piano's videos of the univers. So great to have a deep dive into those different models. Thanks Stu for letting us know the positive sides of all those up and grands. Your contribution to the piano lovers community is priceless!
Just Wow! I think this was easily one of the most enjoyable reviews that we ve seen from you! It a already clear now how much Stu likes Bechsteins, but keeping a review real and let us feel the passion behind it, that s the way reviews should be! @Stu, I am sure we would enjoy a lot you posting more playing with each of these pianos. I can never get enough of you playing, so just some audio recording with this pianos that I can put on loop would be really appreciated :D
Man you're of the most underrated piano channels on youtube .. please make paid ad campaign at least once on youtube .. i'm sure you'll need it once only then your channel will be exploded ..
Small pianos can be fantastic when you really get to know what you have. I play weekly on a 46 inch Steinway vertical in a restaurant and I’ve gotten to where I don’t even really wish for a big grand in the space. You discover other things when you don’t have long bass strings.
My absolute dream instrument is the Concert Grand B212 in pyramid mahogany and with the C. BECHSTEIN Variosystem. My absolute favorite! 🎹🎼🎵🎵🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎶🎶🎵🎶🎶❤❤❤❤ ... !!!
Folks, it's just like that C. BECHSTEIN builds the best pianos and grand pianos in the world C. BECHSTEIN wins every musician's heart ❤ ... 🎹🎼🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶❤❤❤
Hi Stu, my eldest when I told him about your K52 review, put me in front of the big screen in the middle of the surround system brought popcorn and said watch... WoW... I really need to get that interior designer. 😂🤣😂🤣 My two boys a I love that L167. Thank you for your great review.
Have a look at Casio, the GP310 and the GP510 HYBRID piano was developed in collaboration with C. BECHSTEIN and is the leading instrument in its price class, as well as everything that C. BECHSTEIN has on the market from the cheapest ZIMMERMANN to the € 160,000 D282 Concertgrand all in the best offers on the market in their price range.
Stu Your ideas about instruments are always absolutely outstanding and, especially when it comes to your commitment, I think it's great to bring the C.Bechstein manufacture closer to people. We already agree that this manufacturer is one of the big players on this planet. But what would really interest me would be a three-way comparison within the group, e.g. between the W.Hoffmann P162 vs. C.Bechstein A160 vs. C.Bechstein L167! To bring out the big tonal differences within the W. Hoffmann P line, the C. Bechstein Academy line and the C. Bechstein Concertgrand line. In my opinion, all three lines are leaders in their segment in the piano business. I still trust Fazioli to do something similar to that of C. Bechstein. So I would be very happy about such a magical comparison. E.g. also between the W.Hoffmann P206, the C.Bechstein Akademie B 208 and the Concertgrand B212 ... !!!
Please do a review of the C. Bechstein Residence 116K if u do have them around too! They are a popular choice in Europe and Asia (But maybe not N. America as u guys lean more to grand and Baby grand piano preferences)
Very cool. Just the other night I was watching you try to get the most out of that Rockjam $200 keyboard, and now you are on this incredible piece of craftsmanship. Really enjoy your vids!
We may see more piano music by Chinese composers. The Beckstein piano reviewed here is narrowly a baby grand at just under 5'6" and you will notice a glassy tone across the top half of the scale. Best
I subscribed for the digital piano reviews but holy moly, the gap between sampling/modelling and the sound and nuances of a real piano, particularly this one, is massive. I thought the sound of modern digital pianos were excellent but it pales in comparison.
Interesting you mentioned the full perimeter rim... I have heard Mason and Hamlin use a full perimeter rim as well... Is that true? While i know this piano is about double what a Mason and Hamlin Model A costs, would love to hear a side by side comparison of the sound... Cheers!
Absolutely! The L167 is the finest baby grand piano in the world in my personal opinion. While there are no comparably sized Shigeru Kawai pianos (the smallest being the 5'11" SK2), it would make for an interesting comparison! We will do our best to tackle that. :)
the resonance and sustain of the last upper notes are unheard of. except for that though I actually like Estonia 168 sound more overall. but Bechstein did smth magical in the 7th octave

I have got the same Bechstein grand as this model but its already 100 yrs old. Unfortunately it doesnt sound as good as his here. Maybe it because its too old.
I think Bechstein was unhappy with Steinway buying Louis Renner so they decided to come up with their own actions and hammers to set themselves apart from Steinway and rest of the field. A bold move though.
5'5" to 5'11" pianos are usually referred to as "medium grands" and "parlour grands" are usually pianos between the 6' to 6'10" size. However, there are lots of different sources and opinions on exactly where the cut-off points are for each "type" of grand.
I presume that the price range is due to cost of manufacturing in Germany. Sound and make doesn't justify being way higher than nice sounding pianos made by Kawai, Estonia or Yamaha of the same size.

Get this man that Fazioli, look how much fun he was having!
Your audio engineer is doing a great job. It sounds like the piano is standing right next to me.
My fave Merriam Music piano review vid of all time...
traumhafter Klang!!! thanx for the superb recording quality...
Although I will never have such piano in my house, I love these reviews
What a emotional and passionate review, I can feel your feeling. Amazing, 👌🥰😊
YESSS ACOUSTIC PIANO VIDS ARE BACK!!!
What a piano. Please, please, please post a pure playing video so that us, mortals can enjoy the beautiful sound and your wonderful playing more. 👏👏👏

Bell like clarity. And the best trebles I’ve heard. Love your videos and your playing.
Excellent, professional review!
L167 concert piano really is an art piece to have.
I definitely agree! It is a truly exceptional piano that greatly outperforms its size. :)

I have a 1930 C. Bechstein Model L and I adore it :) Never played on a new one.. hopefully one day :)
Wonderful review...thanks so much!!!
Watching Stu falling in love with a Bechstein, makes me smile. But how can he not. The sound is enchanting.
Absolutely! This piano was a joy to record and film with Stu at the helm :) Thanks for watching -LP

@09:26 “I have for a second just forgot I was doing a review”
… me too!
I’ve just got lost in the tone of this piano… on my iPad!!!
Really beautiful!
What A dream piano! You, Stu, do the BEST piano demos; I am addicted. THANK YOU!!!! (When will Bechstein make a home digital keyboard?...sigh)

I very much like your reviews. Have you considered doing one on Bluthner pianos?
Thanks for the great review 🎼🎼🤗👍

I just bought a kawai gl 30 its about the same size, it will arrive in March. And you just killed my enthusiasm.
This Bechstein costs 4x what your Kawai did
I think Stu just made everyone who sees this video hate their pianos. Thanks a lot Stu!
Many, if not most people would feel extremely fortunate to have a GL-30. Best of luck to you and I'm sure it will bring you much enjoyment.
U probably won't like my reply but i gonna say, be contented with what you have. And I believe most will agree that GL 30 is a good piano~

30 years of difference maybe at least, specially in comparison With top pianos
I'm feeling your joy, sir.
It is hard not to be in a joyful state when playing an L167! ;)
Thanks for the great review. Is the piece at 6:45 improvised? Sounds pretty cool.
Should love to hear a review of the L167 and Bosendorfer 155 Mignon
Wonderful. Period.

Such an inspiration. I better get back to writing on my Bechstein Grand. (In my dreams...)
Thanks for tuning in! I hope that your dream becomes a reality one day as C. Bechstein grands are exceptional instruments! :)
@@MerriamPianos 💯
Is there a sampled/VST variant of this beauty?
That is a very good question! I am not aware of an L167 VST or sample library. However, I think that would be a fantastic idea! :)
Beautiful piano. Extremely high end. Would love to see how it compares to a S Kawai piano

The L167 is a stunning instrument in every regard! The sustain is incredible. Thanks for tuning in! :)
I would also suggest the Bosendorfer 155 which ironically is no longer part of their range
Brent here! I have never had a chance to play that specific model, but Bosendorfer pianos are certainly exceptional instruments. :)
"They felt that the wise thing to do was to bring it (the hammers) in house..." - I see what you did there, Stu!
Seriously dude, you have the best job in the world. ❤️🇦🇺⛪️🎹

Add Steingraeber 170 to the list of smaller grand competitors.
It’s worth the money.
Absolutely! It is a fantastic instrument with incredible expressivity! :)
At only 5’6” and over $100k……it BETTER be good lol
I think that a vintage M&H is still the one of the best pianos ever built! I find this sound too strident.
MSRP $125K 😯 I wish I could play well enough to afford it 🤣
I wish I could play well enough to convince myself that I *deserve* to own one! :-)
5’6. This is already a Parlor Grand.

Yellow.
Do you two want to be alone?
Price 70.000€, it is cheap😁😉
