Nice mill! I’ve been a cnc machinist for over 20 years and just started a few months ago on a grob g550 with a 10 pallet changer. Best mill I’ve ran by far! The customer service is second to none.
Hi! I think, the G350, G351, G352 driveways are a little bit to small for floor space. The G550, G551, G552 are the better choice, i think. Only a little bit bigger(longer driveways) and it makes the same... We use 10 G551, 2 G552, 2 G751 and 2 G350 with a Yaskawa Robot /"Modula" Vertical Lift Module for work piece handling. All day lang we say:"We cannot use the SAME G550 - programs on the G350... Double costs for programming... For us it was a mistake to choose the 2 G350ies...
The footprint to machining envelope seems big compared to a Monoblock of equal size. Also Heidenhain is far superior to Siemens, im guessing you could get a Grob with either though.
Why did you guys pick the LANG fixturing? I am working on a new fixture that needs multiple work station faces on a tombstone layout. So I'm curious what your thoughts are there?
With their stamping system they are simply easier to run (eliminated some stock prep operations) and hold better. Had a part with some stability issues when working far from the vises, switched to a Lang, problem went away. They’re spendy but if you need the quality they’re great.
We did look at it, was a few hundred k more when optioned similar and the Grob still had some features over it. Plus all the other reasons we chose the Grob in the video
Depends on options you need but the base machine price for G320 5 axis (double spindle) is around €480K . So you can consider starting price without options as €400K for G350 mono spindle machine.

@@area419 There or better products today then LANG
Nice video, did you also consider the new 5 axis horizontal from DMG?
We did look at it, was a few hundred k more when optioned similar and the Grob still had some features over it. Plus all the other reasons we chose the Grob in the video
DMG doesn't fit in the same league as the GROB. This is high end top-notch, and DMG is consumer goods
GROB and DMG can’t really be compared, the GROB smashes the DMG in every metric.
Just to let you know, grob in russian means coffin.
german engineering FTW
