I'm so glad I had the chance to be a young one in the seventies and enjoy this music still listening now makes me feel so happy,no worries, just contented, but there's one thing for sure this kind of music will never come back but I still have my good memories and that's what counts,I love to dance round the room when I hear music like this in my own little world,it makes me happy😊😊❤️
I was became a teenager in 1976 and believe we lift through the BEST era of music with pop, glam rock punk and so on. I wish we could return to those care free days Tony in Portsmouth England.
Doing research for our disco podcast and TODAY is when I found out that Doctor’s Order was sung by Sunny and she did it first … great version 🤍 You are never too old to learn 😊
I was 13! I can sympathise with you, hearing this song has brought me out in goose bumps! Methinks that if everyone gave a loving spoonful everyday this world would get better pretty quick pandemic or no pandemic.
Sunny was one of the UK's top session singers. She appeared uncredited on countless top 40 hits by "studio manufactured" groups. She also recorded as Sunny & Sue (Sue was another top session singer). They were part of the James Last touring orchestra as featured vocalists throughout the 70s. Check the credits on many 70s albums and you will find her listed- including albums by Donna Summer and Cerrone.
I came to this site after reading the comments from the Carol Douglass version of this song. Frankly, I couldn't imagine anyone topping Ms. Douglass version, however, after listening to this version by Sunny, I'm here to say to one and all, it's too close to call. Both versions are great!!
~ The Last Days of Disco never came, as such songs still resonate fresh in 2019. Thank you, Sunny (Heather Wheatman a/k/a Sunny Leslie) and Carol Douglas and all early disco divas. See also "United We Stand" by Brotherhood of Man & "I'll See You In My Dreams" by the Pearls & "Let Us Break Bread Together" by Sue & Sunny & "Third Finger, Left Hand" by the Pearls (also mono 7" version by Martha & the Vandellas). Cheers, DAVEDJ ~
I vote for the Carol Douglas version but maybe that's because I never heard this version until now. I'm sure I could get used to it. I love Sunny's "Let Us Break Bread Together" with her sister Sue.
Sunny sang the first jingle package for Piccadilly Radio in Manchester a few months before this record got into the charts. They're on YT - Piccadilly Radio Theme 1974. .
Tony Macaulay (Anthony Instone), Geoff Stephens, John Carter (John Shakespear), John Macleod, Barry Mason, Les Reed, Roger Cook, Roger Greenaway, Gerry Shury, Phil Swern, Mike Leander, All marvellous British pop songwriters from the early/mid 1970's. Also, Laurence Myers GTO Records/GTO Films & Bell Records was a great talent finder, particularly for songwriters.
Agree 100%. May I add Clive Scott and Des Dyer to your excellent list? Everyone of them should be required listening for anyone wanting a definition of how to write the perfect 'pop' song.
Admittedly I only knew the Carol Douglas version and maybe I'm biased, but after hearing this, I still think hers is best. The tempo of this is too fast. Carol's really captures the disco beat and I can make out the lyrics better. And this is one song in particular where the lyrics are extremely clever and rhyme so well. Nevertheless, I loved Sunny in Brotherhood of Man.

The 70s were just glorious. I was a teenager then, the best ever time to have been one

Who else sang it apart from Jane Macdonald? Sunny version in 1974 was the only one I knew and even bought it. Alexa knew otherwise!

This is the first time I’m hearing Sunny’s original British tune. I only knew the Carol Douglas US cover song. Very cool
Fabulous 54 years later
14yrs old when this first came out! Stomache turned over when I came across this 70s tune.
I was 13! I can sympathise with you, hearing this song has brought me out in goose bumps! Methinks that if everyone gave a loving spoonful everyday this world would get better pretty quick pandemic or no pandemic.

Sunny was the best.
Still prefer this version & still got it on vinyl.
gooner brain, can't argue with your choice because of 'dem' missing brain, if you under stand 'wat a mean'.
She had a cool, husky voice, but the arrangement is too fast for this song...but! maybe I am just too accustomed to the original
@@1derfullBeast This IS the original version. I too prefer the Carol Douglas version because I like its musical arrangement better.
@@DerekDominoes I didn't know that this is the original, but I wouldn't know, I was born in 74, and like the other version
Great memories and times love the 70s best music ever .
family parties when I was a young lad.
this is one of the greats.
thank you so much for posting this.
Reminds me of Bradford Mecca in 1974. It was thee place to go for good soul music, especially Northern Soul. Wigan Casino was just round the corner!
Love the horns at the end. Also, Sunny does the best version, really making the song 'roll along'

One of my favorite records ever. Thanks for sharing.
Oh the nostalgia! 😊
The perfect 70s pop song and there were many very good ones. Sunny sounds very like Dusty Springfield on this.

Oh my goodness, she was gorgeous...and I was only a kid at the time. Greetings from England!
Lifeiseternal you are right I was in Love with her and I played this single to point it drove my Mother up the wall
Never look for Love on the outside of yourself. Radiate happiness and Love from within, you'll attract it back to you !!
Happy memories of this song, wagging it from school and it always seemed to be playing in the background at the corner cafe
Big success in France during spring 75 for the french cover "C'est le coeur" by Sheila.
I wish this fantastic song was available on Spotify, I can’t understand why it isn’t?😢

Not only was she a session singer but she and her sister, Sue, sang on many of the Cerrone and Alec R. Costandinos recordings.

Sunny's was the original to put on vinyl and it was her song in Europe however and Carol was given the song and she made it her song in the USA

Great song omg disco on a Saturday night in the local village hall dancing to songs like this then a smooch at the end heaven
WOW I STILL LOVE YOU SUNNY.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
I love the farting noise that is suppose to be a phone ringing.
This was the only version I've ever heard until now. Apparently a few people have done it including Van McCoy.
WOW I like that song.

Used as bbc 2 test card music in 1976!
She sang the backing vocals on Rainbow Valley by the love affair
I think it may have been her sister Sue
Loved The Love Affair.
Which is also a total classic
