- Kayali Vanilla Royale Sugared Patchouli is the newest... and limited edition... release and the streets are talking. Because half the people are loving this fragrance while the other half is trashing it I was asked to review it. I gotta admit this is probably the most complex and long lasting perfumes from the Kayali lineup, it took me on a roller coaster of emotions.

I RAN to order this because I love my Vanilla 28. It personally gives me Vanilla 28 at dry down, but with a added spice. I am in absolute love, so glad I got the biggest bottle😍 I also just realized the bottle is sheer lol the gold bottle looks so pretty in my collection.

LMAOOO the party description is fantastic. I'll wait till this shows up in stores to smell it myself. I don't believe when these companies say limited edition. You might have to layer this one with vanilla or tonka to amp it up.
Hey Phoebe I with you I don't believe this is limited edition either. I think it'll be re released around this time again or they'll do a "flanker" of vanilla 28 like we thought this one was.
Mine arrived yesterday! I like it on paper. And I can still smell it strongly on that strip that I sprayed 24hrs ago.😳 I def agree, it doesn't smell like vanilla 28 at all. I'll test it on my skin in a few days. I need it to rest and calm down a little lol.

@@LavishlyChiChi That fragrance is bi polar on me. That Oud, leather and patchouli jumped me and drug me by the ponytail for about an hour 🤣 then it got sweet and decadent. I don’t know if I can keep fighting it for an hour to get to the dry down. I think I’m going to return it.

Loved the review! 🤣 I felt the same about vanilla 28. The Sephora near me doesn’t carry kayali, so I blind bought it recently. It still hasn’t arrived just yet, but I traveled out of town and went to a Sephora that carried it and I was so disappointed…hopefully it grows on me when it arrives. I almost bought the Vanilla Royale but I decided against it. Maybe I’ll get the travel size like you suggested
When that vanilla 28 juice is light I don't enjoy it very much but that dark purple tho... we can hang out. I commend Vanilla Royale being really complex just not sure the mass market will love it

Perfect way you described this scent. I love it. I got a better picture. Other videos say “it smells like this perfume” or “it smells like Beyoncé “ like I don’t know what that perfume smells like and idk if I want to smell like Beyoncé lol. No shade to Beyoncé but I feel we don’t have the same vibe or like the same type of fragrances 🤷🏽♀️. Also they’ll say if you love Vanilla 28 you’ll love this and no ma’am. I’m like the only person on her planet that don’t like Vanilla 28. At my party vanilla is outside on the phone and Amber and Wood is being extra. Unfortunately it didn’t work on my skin. But hearing rum, patchouli and Oud acting up I think I can work with that…. Correction, I think vanilla left and went to the corner store to grab something before coming back to the party 😂. I would love an Oakmoss one from her tho.
The perfume references are only useful when you've actually smelled those. So in this case it prepared me for impact but I'm still glad I tried it out because I don't hate it... but I don't love it either lol. Vanilla 28 only smells good when it's dark purple. You're the first person to mention amber and woods being loud. That's what I love about fragrance because we're all getting different notes

I got mine yesterday. So far it’s a like not a love. It smells better on my skin than paper. I do a agree, it’s more niche and more complex which I do appreciate. My scent bubble although was amazing. I’m looking forward to playing with it more. Sweet Diamond is my favorite Kay Ali and it wasn’t even a love at first sniff for me. Kay Ali scents take time to marinate lol. Good review!
They definitely made a niche quality perfume. I haven't given up on vanilla Royale so I'm hoping her sisters will help her out a bit

I'm so glad I got the mini. It gives rum in the beginning, then the patchouli and oud hits me 😢 so much it gives me a headache. The dry down is really nice but it still lingers. Idk how long I have to let it sit to calm down the patchouli. I'm a complete Beginner to perfume I love the vanilla 28. At least I know now I don't like patchouli. I love your analogy of the scent notes!
The patchouli is super loud but the clue was in the name so we shouldn't have been surprised lol. I just posted a layering combo video because I'm still playing with it

So I smelt this on a test strip in Sephora and really liked it. The store I was in was out of stock so I ordered it online because I wanted to use the 20% coupon that was about to expire... well I received this yesterday, put it on my skin and it did not hit the same. debating on if i want to return or try it on for a few days. it just wasn't what i expected

Fun review. I ordered blindly and loved it. Had to order another. It will smell different on different ppl . I layer it with BR540, Angels Share, ABOTR, and others. Funny how it smells sweet on me, spicy on one friend, and powdery on another. But love it.
Ooo Gina I have all 3 of those fragrances so imma try it and report back. I think I can handle the drydown I just need something to cover up that opening. Thanks for the layering combos

I'm glad you ended up liking this one. I'm still on the fence with it so I'm trying to layer it with other fragrances to mask the opening a bit
Sometimes if you are new to niche, it surprises you if you set it aside… experiment with other niche and come back, you may feel different about it!. I find some fragrances take ages to appreciate. Niche fragrances surprise me often with how loud and surprising they are.
My personal experiences of this was lune feline, black orchid and italica all which I initially HATED now love them all.

My initial smell was exactly like you described- sniff sniff- WTF?!?!? It got better with the dry down but still a hell no for me. I could not keep it on my skin long enough to allow the vanilla to come to the party. The patchouli and oud are so strong and not in a good way (to my nose). The only way it smells like a rich aunt, is a hippie from Woodstock alcoholic aunt. Thank you for keeping it real, I subscribed so quickly.

Best review. I bought the travel size because I was burned on Invite Only. I bought the 50 ML of that and hated it on skin. I tried Vanilla Royale. I don’t love it. It’s meh…leans masculine to me. I’m really not liking their intense perfumes at all.
I feel like the intense ones are more niche leaning. I surprisingly loved invite only and I'm not even a huge lover of tobacco but lately I've been more open to it.

From the metaphor you gave it sounds like it was a true story but the names were changed 😂 but I wanted to try this but I’m not into smelling like any kind of liquor and from the notes and descriptions it seems like this perfume is a lot and it’s one of those ‘eh I don’t know’ fragrances like you’re always on the fence because something smells good in it but then something you’re just not feeling is in it

@@LavishlyChiChi I will definitely let you know. So many have been hating the opening and the way their skin smells. People have been enjoying what they smell in the air. I can't wait to see what I get. I may need to layer it with escapade gourmand if I do not like it lol.

Omg girl, I said the same thing! On my skin it smells like barnyard patchouli and oud, but in the air and on my clothes it smells beautiful. I'm like whuuuut is going on?!?! 😂 Definitely wish the gourmand aspect was amped up a bit more to round out the other notes. I like it now with V28 and Chocolate Queen so it's growing on me. Thx again you had me rolling 🤣

Thanks for your honest review. I got this & I don’t like it. I get Patchouli, Learher & Oud. Dries down smoky & masculine on me. No Gourmand, No Vanilla, no Crème brûlée. The Oud overpowers any sweetness.. Dissapointed. If someone loves leather, Oudy scents they may like this
Hi Elissa I wish you got some of the sweetness that I'm getting. Still not sure it's worth going through the oud and patchouli to get to it tho

The original v28 doesn't pull either one of those notes but there's definitely a patchouli note in it. Are you looking for a sugary vanilla

@@LavishlyChiChi , update I did NOT like it. Definitely smelled the Billie Eilish😧. It smells like an old church lady on the dry down. The first spray was ok but that dry down with the Oud and Patchouli taking over was a no!!!! Returning with a quickness
