      A friend who is a mechanic helped me. He found a diagram of the ECM pins and we found the ones (wires) going from TPS and ECM and then tested them one by one. Found one that tested bad.

      Also I probably mentioned this to in my posts but I will again. I had a brand new TPS sensor from AutoZone and it tested bad. So make sure to double check any new sensors you use.

    The electronic switch behind the shifter (MLPS) on the transmission gets packed with road dirt, remove it and you will see an obvious design flaw There is no way the plastic rotating piece inside can work once filled with dirt. The book says to use a gear position sensor adjuster tool T89T-70010-J after cleaning / replacing? Maybe put some location marks before you remove it? $25 for a new one. Good luck. This fixes un wanted up shifts, down shifts and trans going in neutral for no reason.

    I have a 95 Bronco and it has similar issues. Goes straight from 1st to overdrive so I have to shift it manually. Changed the VSS and no change, but when I unplugged the VSS it shifted through all the gears just late hard shifts. Crazy. I'm going to try to change this plug myself and see if it changes anything. Watch all my videos.. check your TPS sensor, your speed sensor and your wires. Mine was a signal wire that was bad on the TPS sensor wires from sensor to ECM. Check these things first it's cheaper than a six hundred dollar stand alone that may not be ur problem.

      Check and replace if needed:
      Spark plugs
      Spark plug cables
      Distributor cap and rotor
      Fuel filter
      Air filter
      Exhaust manifold gaskets
      O2 sensor (this one you should run a KOER diagnosis, I could bring you all the info if you need it)
      If you checked all, and still runs like crap, replace the oil filter and half the old oil from the transmission to get it working, if you do it and still the same, check all your wiring for the engine and transmission, for this you should go to an electician to get it checked

    I have a similar problem with my 1993 f150 5.0 E4OD automatic transmission. It hesitates upon acceleration. I have no check engine light on but when I ran a code reader it showed two codes. first code was 621 which shows to be "Solenoid/circuit failure - shift solenoid 1 - transmission". The second code is 629 which shows to be "Torque converter clutch circuit fault - transmission". The only thing I can think of doing is replacing the transmission solenoid pack while doing a fluid change in hopes that will clear the codes. If someone could help and give some advice on where I should start would be appreciated.

    • @2lotony
      @2lotony  3 года назад +1

      I watched alot of videos, these transmissions seem to have alot of problems. Replacing the solenoid pack is not too hard or expensive.
      I would check the wires and plug at the transmission that seemed to be a point of problems for alot of others according to their videos and responses to mine. The plug is cheap like less than 40 bucks. If the wires at the or near the plug look bad, I would start there.

    Mine shifts HARD after warming up. It dances from overdrive to drive up and down hills. Read a lot of treads out there. A lot of people throwing parts at it. Crappy design to much electrical and vacuum crap with no real computer codes. Paid 1k for my truck. Have a 95 straight 6 also with manual transmission. Am gonna strip the 94 down and junk it. Its just poor technology in this timeframe. I liked manual linkage. Newer trucks have better diagnostics. Thinking of getting away from this old crap. Was also told that Ford's plugs for any electrical plug in for wiring harness are made of cheap metal and degrade. I've had an 84 89 straight 6. No problems. 86 92 01 duallys 86 no problem. 92 had electrical issues. Sold the 01 at 70k had cam sensor go out. Had 3 escorts all had electrical issues. Still have one. Dash lights out defrost in rear out. Pause when I start it at times before it cranks over. Chevys were worse. Dodge always had weak transmissions. Bought my first Toyota. Am thinking that might be better. Good luck motor home guy.

      Thanks for the comments. Recently spoke to a friend who ditched his E4OD for a C-6. I did throw parts at mine too. Good thing the parts cost were low and even took some back. Figure any new part on such an old vehicle can't hurt. Do to some bad diagnoses I had to do process of elimination to find the problem them the bad wire. Mice chewing harness didn't help either. My problem is still fixed and I have driven over 3k miles towing a trailer. So far so good!!
