my son just picked up a 97 f 250 and are dealing with some of the same things so thank you for the info and i to thank god your still alive to and keep driving safely Peace out.
Thanks for the vid. I recently bought a 96 F-150 with a 5.8 that came with the blinking O/D light. Did the sensor change stop the blinking? And more importantly, did the hard shift resolve? Note: I have no idea what I'm doing, btw. I am just broke. The transmission was recently changed by a professional with a used one of unclear origins. I did have a Factory Rebuilt sticker on it, however. The previous owner had the transmission changed because of the hard shifting. I've had the truck for about a month, less than a thousand miles on it since I got it, and the hard shifting has gotten worse, mostly just from 1-2, a little sticky from 2-3. But coming down it's fine. Any help/thoughts would be VERY appreciated.
Yes I changed it a couple times, it can also be the speed sensor which ironically is located in the instrument cluster. It can be a dirty connector in the gauges. It’s a frustrating issue, not a great design
i just replaced my sensor in my 96 and the problem is still intermittent. i went up a hill earlier and my check engine light came on and the code said it was the sensor again. so i will be checking my differential later
@@dookster15 I am looking for a video when I was having this problem. There may be a broken connection on a circuit board in the dash behind the instrument cluster as well. If I can locate the other video I may be trying that as well. I am not totally convinced I fixed mine.

The sensor does not go on the ring gear. It reads off the tone ring on the ring gear.
Yes I believe you are correct sir.
