Nice meeting you the other day Mark. Seen you today also haha. You really hit the point here and regardless of how somebody wants to fish for fluke you gotta stay on the move. Today was my first day in a while with my limit flounder from shore. Thanks for all the tips and lessons from you and Roger.
Hard work does pay off great job brotha hopefully this will help a lot of youngins that are getting into fishing an idea of how to target fish from land great work
I’m 15 and I only know a couple of people from my school that fish. Fishing is my favorite thing to do and I will definitely use everything I learned from this video to help catch me some doormats!
There are sticks out there you'll never see a video or report from...they are definitely catching. But Marc's record this year is undoubtedly in the top .001% from shore lol, very impressive stuff.
Great video and tutorial Marc. Were you using 3/8oz jig in the inlet as well? What size do you go up to when the current is running hard, say on a moon tide?
csralumni thanks! I was using up to 3/4 oz in the inlet. I usually don’t fish there in the middle of the tides or when the current is outrageous. But if it’s screaming you can possibly try a chicken rig with a heavier sinker.
Enjoy your Fluke vids from shore.. wanted to ask you about accessible spots you may know where a person in a wheelchair can get close enough to waters edge? I live on Staten Isl. very close to NJ.. Just can't find a productive spot. Thanks Joe
How long do you let the jig touch the bottom on the pause? I’ve been trying to work on my retrieve but I’ve been getting mostly sea robins hitting my bucktails. Great informative vid
Start your pops/bounces again as soon as the jig lands on bottom. Usually a sea robin bite feels very different from a fluke bite...I often just pull the jig out of a searobin's mouth w/o setting the hook lol...they are not very smart fish.
Thanks Leon! From my experience the slower the presentation, the higher the chance of a robin taking your offering. This includes sluggish retrieves and prolonged pauses after the jig hits the bottom. However, If you're fishing an area that's loaded with robins you may not be able to avoid them.
@@CookingandFishing That's my biggest problem right now. I have trouble knowing when my jig hits bottom, especially with wind. Is that probably due to using a cheap fiberglass rod or something else? Thanks for the tip and thats a hella smart way to avoid them lol.
@@idkwhattouseforname fiberglass rod doesn't help, but I would do this: Start with a heavier jig...say 1oz+. That way you know exactly when you're on the bottom. Progressively go lighter. When you get to the lightest end of the spectrum...equipment definitely matters. Also watching your line. Wind is always tough, I tend to keep my rod low to the water when the wind is blowing: jig jig jig then bring the rod tip down while it falls, just to keep my braid out of the wind. Anyway, like most things worth doing...it takes practice and time on the water!
TwoPoundTest I’m not totally sure! My cousin wanted me to use them for the early season since it’s action is geared more towards triggering reaction strikes from sluggish fish. And this success carried on through the middle of the season. But you can see in the video I was using the 5” grubs as well and did just fine. We are working on a video explaining the differences between the two. Stay tuned!
blood becomes deoxygenated bcuz fish is out of water, no more oxygen , anaerobic metabolism and acidosis occurs. it ruins the meat amd taste..bleed them out fast and put on ice QUICKLY to preserve freshness....
Better flavor, better color for raw prep. With fluke it's mostly about the presentation, other species it can drastically improve flavor and keep them fresh longer.
@@SurvivorDiet Definitely had some fluke that weren't bled next to bled out fish. As mentioned, with fluke it's more about color and presentation in raw preparations, the difference esp in cooked dishes is small. With other species (bluefish probably the most obvious, but porgies/stripers too) the difference can be dramatic. Blood is considered universally a negative when it comes to storing and in some cases aging meat. From fish to pigs to chickens...you want to drain as much blood as possible. If you can't tell the difference or can't be bothered to bleed, by all means chuck em in the cooler and keep fishing!
@@CookingandFishing gotcha but u guys have unorthodox fishing methods that rival traditional ones! I plan to make my own video. I berm catching fish with ur tips and others but yours most of the time! You're my inspiration bro! I hope to fish with you one day!
Can't be good flopping know shorts onto grass and pavement to toss back.. Taking slime off the fish is no good. And also not saying you do this but alot of vids you see guys squeezing gills tightly to unhook. I'm sure those thumb indentations ain't helping survival. . As light as you can and still being able to control the fish for a unhook job is best practice , without a rag or on pavement. If you only catch a few fish per year I get it, you just don't have a technique down. But if you consistently catch fluke this practice should come easy.

Looks like a blast man!! Surf fishing is just a whole new league man ! Keep it up
U are one of the only fishermen who can catch keepers from the shore

Nice work Marcy Marc
Great illustration on reading the waves. Nicely done. Covering ground and scouting is way under rated for shore fluking!
Dingthings Fishing lets go!
Very nice! What line are you using off reel and leader? Thanks!
Just added all the tackle links to the video description

@@shore-moneyfishing1939 Oy that may be my problem. I tend to let the jig sit a bit because I can't always tell when/if my jig has hit bottom. Thanks!

I just aubscribed to your channel...them rod holders tho...where'd you get those???
Francis Delumen this was custom made for my cousin many years. Unfortunately, these are no longer made and sold.
Do you have a video on the rod carrier?

Hey I’m just curious what body of water do you fish? Is this NJ?
NJ/NY/CT...shoremoney's everywhere lol
kyle basbous NY/CT/NJ. Fluke are everywhere, especially at this time of the season.
Is there a certain time of the year when fluke stay more in the bay then ocean? Like in the early season are they more prone to be by the Oceanside?
Generally it's early season bay, mid-later season ocean, but there are exceptions.
Marc, damn dude you cover some ground. You must put miles on the car to find the fluke. That's some dedication.
miles on the car and miles on foot - Marc is the most dedicated fluking machine out there lol
Some good nuggets. Do you think the fluke are hitting better on jerkshads because they're getting wise to grubs/swimming mullets?

New to fishing why did you cut the gills?
Just to bleed them out. Bled out fish will keep fresher and taste better, and in raw preparations look better as well.

Where you fish at? East Coast?
Why do you bleed the fluke?
Better flavor, better color for raw prep. With fluke it's mostly about the presentation, other species it can drastically improve flavor and keep them fresh longer.
@@CookingandFishing how do you know? Have you ever done a side by side comparison? I did this with fluke this spring. Interesting results...

Hello I live in Massachusetts where can I go for flounder fishing?
Not sure about MA, but I would start with anywhere there is saltwater access. Deep water close by is always nice.
Nice!! I just subbed
thanks!
do you fish belmar often
Up and down CT/NY/NJ coastline!
i see in your last spot you were just starting to get mugged nice video
