I have been trying to decide if i wanted to put tracks on my Rubicon. This is the first video i've seen that really shows the capabilities of a smaller cc machine with tracks. Thank you. I'm sold!

Quick question - Would you think that a Yamaha BigBear 400 would be sufficiently strong to move around and possibly pull logs? I'm scared the semi automatic transmission might be an issue (clutch burning and forcing the engine too much).
Also, do you think a Skandic SWT (24in track) is better suited to log or the atv tracks would be sufficiently strong or even perhaps stronger?

I've used my honda to skid logs over the snow, the manual gears on the honda allow you to control the power and its basically unstoppable. I've also wondered how the automatic drive low cc bikes would handle the tourque needed to drive the tracks. the smaller R4s tracks could be a good suit though instead of the large T4s since they would be easier to turn.
in my opinion, for towing power, i would take my bike with tracks any day over any skidoo on the market

@@arideout121Thanks for your reply! Yeah, I think tracks are better suited to pull and tow - I mean, if an atv is strong enough to have tracks made for it, it'll most probably be stronger than most if not all sleds.
The Yamaha BigBear Professional, with its oversized tubing, is made to haul at low speeds. The fact it has a selectable low or high drive and selectable semi-automatic gears makes it easier to tilt towards tracks.
I'm assuming that 100cc less won't make it that much weaker. In the end, I wouldn't even care if I stayed in 1st gear, as long as it hauls the logs I need, I would be happy.

Hard to get perspective but the holes in the end are 5ft deep. Impresive

IT is a foot shift? How does IT ride with tracks? Did it stuck between gears or you can always go to reverse without trying to rocking the bike back and forth

Never had much issue with shifting gears, other then needing to keep speed between shifts I typically have to be at a higher rpm to keep the tracks moving while I shift, especially if I'm shifting up a hill

Do you have to drive over the wheel wells in your pickup? Trying to decide which tracks to get for Rubicon, the narrow or wide ones, will be pulling 16 foot ice castle with it

In my f150 8foot box the tracks would scrub the wheel wells but drove in between no problem

Great video! Is the lumber to get rear tracks over obstacles?

No that's just what we had available for firewood that day lol, scraps from the woodshop. I always carry the saw or an axe for that purpose though
