- I went to Holker Street, the home of Barrow AFC to watch them take on Cumbrian rivals Carlisle in the English Football League 2.
It was an historic day as Barrow recorded their highest home league attendance in over 50 years!!!
The score ended Barrow AFC 1-2 Carlisle United.

Lovely little club Barrow with very passionate fans who follow them everywhere & considering half the town are Rugby League fans they are very well supported % wise 3rd highest in L2
I remember Carlisle being in the old first division before it became the premier league and that was a few decades ago. Its nice ti see Barrow back in the football league again but you are not at the bottom for nothing hope they can stay up. Once again its great to see so many young people at the match as they are the future of the game.
Stan Bowles.
Thank you for doing this I am a Carlisle fan and this is just an absolute pleasure for me and my reaction when I saw you filmed this was priceless
I’m a Northampton fan we beet you 2-1🎉
Great video mate love watching your content getting to see all these games/stadiums i never thought i would see, great club Barrow would love for them to become a solid team in the EFL, would love to see you at Home Park in the Devenport End always a great atmosphere here or even traveling to an away game in the Argyle end its always packed, good luck!
Plymouth fans are awesome
I’m Barrow but lived in Tavvy for a few yrs so have a soft spot for Argyle & attended Home Park many a time
I think from the same area Workington were once elected out of the football league. Anyway, great video again. Always interesting to see minor derbies like these.
I am extremely so happy and proud of you for making your vlog regarding yesterday's English League 2 match between Barrow and Carlisle United in the Cumbrian Derby which eventually the away side won but the atmosphere was extraordinary indeed, good friend!!!I have thoroughly enjoyed your video and am about to watch your previous video which I have forgotten to watch earlier on,good friend!!!🙏
Barrow, Workington and Southport all teams on the North West Coast that went out of the football league in 70s
Huge Carlisle fan. Love your videos wherever you go. Keep it going mate and you are always welcome to Brunton Park, Carlisle and Cumbria.
Great vid from a Carlisle fan funny to see there reaction to the goals should come back next season definitely if paul simpson stays cause the atmosphere will be great
at home aswell
👋
Barraw 1 v 2 carlisle FT 💙
Even the mighty Ipswich Town couldn't beat Barrow this season 💙⚪
Great to see you do a league 2 ground , we went there earlier in the season, tipped down and lost too 2 penalties! Great video as always buddy.
Absolutely gutted that my favourite RUclips creator was in my home town, at my club, making a video and I didn't bloody get to meet you! I'm genuinely gutted. I hope you'll be back or I'll get a chance to meet you on the road.
Get over it
We'll definitely catch up the next time I come. What a cool club Barrow is!
Started watching your portuguese videos, and I've been loving them ever since
I'm a Dundee fan ,n your right pitch was sadly pish , been to Carlisle before , nice town , always remember Jimmy Glass kept them up .
Intended to do Barrow for an evening game last season when staying in Preston. Unfortunately had to abort it as last train back was about 10 minutes after expected finish.
Hi mate can’t believe you only have 86k subscribers your videos are far better than some creators who have millions of subscribers, I think we were both born in Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire so you definitely have my support, keep up the great work mate!!!!!
Great video. Love their stadium
Amazing Video Mate. Hope to see you coming back to the east of Scotland league near the season end. Penicuik,Tranent & Linlithgow separated by one point. Keep up the good work.
I do find interesting how the significance of matches now thought of derbies has totally changed in the time I've been watching football, just because two teams sit within the same county (and in this case a modern county that didn't even exist when Barrow last played in the Football League) they are now thought of as rivals even if it practice they're nowhere near each other. The concept of "county derbies" wasn't really a thing when I started watching football, my team's biggest rivals came from over the border and were far more relevant than teams that were further away but came under the same County Council. Both teams nearest EFL neighbour is Morecambe and then beyond that Barrow's nearest EFL clubs are Preston, Blackpool, Blackburn and (via shortest route) Accrington, then Carlisle. Carlisle are also closer to Newcastle and Sunderland than Barrow. It took a very long time for Barrow AFC to ever consider themselves Cumbrian; they were still giving their address as Lancashire when I went there in the late 1990s. They are still members of the Lancashire FA even now. I have a Lancashire Soccer Annual from 1970 (it was my grandma's she was a Preston supporter) and Barrow feature in it. A certain sense of rivalry usually does form between the two biggest clubs in a county even if not the nearest neighbours; if someone hadn't decided to invent Cumbria in the 1970s I wonder how this game would be thought of. No doubt there would be a measure of interest as they're relatively near neighbours in the context of their overall remoteness, but not really a derby in the way I grew up thinking of it.
Barrows rival/derby is Morecambe & seeing as Carlisle is a goal kick away from being Scottish, They are nothing much to us except they try very very hard to create a rivalry 🤦♂️
Rlly nice seeing you Sam, need to pop down again some time
Hey mate hope your OK
Am a Carlisle fan mate
When Carlisle got the
winner I went crazy
I was in the away end
Carlisle till I die mate
Hope you enjoyed your
Time in Cumbria mate
Your welcome Back at
Brunton park anytime 💙
So gutted I missed you mate, would love to get a photo with you! Watched your videos for ages now! Up the blues!! 🔵⚪
Good one, Sam, great wee stadium.
You mentioned pitch conditions on the Dundee vlog, and, it’s a fair point.
The disparity between English and Scottish football is massive in financial terms.
Even back in the 80s, crowds were significantly higher.
The product is perennially undersold by the Scottish football authorities, and, outside a handful of clubs, it’s a real struggle.
The entire system needs an overhaul in my opinion.
Horrible stadium
Go Bluebirds!!! All the way from Ohio USA 🇺🇸 🙌 ⚽️
brilliant video
your so underated aswell mate
Great Vlog again, I've never seen sun in Cumbria, lol.......I believe Stockport county at home is bouncing these days, one you should do?
Great videoing covering Carlisle being the biggest team in Cumbria…..😏
Cooooooommmmmmeeeeee oooooooooonnnnnnnnnnn
Not hard is it 😭
Yes mate you are right I am from Southport we dropped out the league In1978 and Wigan did take southport place
Great video and next time you are around Harrogate you should go to a Darlington town game at Blackwell meadows
Barrow is in the County Palatine of Lancashire...has it has been for the last 1,000 years. The 1973 Local Gov Act created new local gov areas, not new Counties. Look at Barrow's badge...Red Rose of Lancashire. Good vlog..only footy site I bother to look at.
I was at the game also I was standing behind the net as a barrow fan im disapointed thats we lost 😭 great video 😁
Last time I went to Barrow they battered Fleetwood 4 nil which made us get Jamie Vardy. The rest is history…..
Excellent video. COYB
Great video. And Barrow have sacked their manager since you made it. We have them.at ours (Leyton Orient) on Saturday, hopefully win that one too.
Whilst on holiday in the Lake District fifty odd years ago, I went to Barrow for a match against Bournemouth. I remember when the ball landed on the roof of the stand, we all got showered in rust. Hope it's better now!
Thanks for briging Maguire to your channel. That guys needs some love.
Pro blogger vid ...well presented... barrow fan in the Philippines ....
Oh yes!
You don’t disappoint
Regarding a Cumbrian derby; many people in Barrow Still think of themselves as proud Lancastrians!
I support Carlisle but lived and worked in barrow 2003-2005.
Barrow and the Furness peninsula is a fantastic area. Great people, good sense of humour. You are absolutely right that it’s a beautiful location.
The Duddon valley is exceptional.
Barrow has a truly fantastic badge.
Carlisle would have taken 4000 to Barrow if they had the capacity!
As it was we got a mere 600 tickets!
From a Carlisle perspective we don’t really see Barrow as rivals.
Who are Carlisle’s rivals ?
@@s125ish hartlepool morecambe then barrow
@@s125ish Middlesbrough
What a great vid and yay back in England
Great video. Up the O's.
I’m glad that you enjoyed yourself at the match because one of my best friends Derek Ashamoah used to play for Carlisle United he was a right winger and he famously scared against both of our childhood team Liverpool Fc. Maybe you should check out Carlisle United stadium
You should try and get up for one of the Highland League midweek matches next week, either Forres Mechanics v Buckie Thistle, or Strathspey Thistle v Fraserburgh. Both of those matches could be crucial to deciding where the title goes this season.
When are you going to Norway? You should go to Oslo and the cupfinal at the end of April. It will be a big event with a packed stadium and drama.
Great day for a Cumbria derby!
Great video coming down to my home club
Gutted to have missed him... Did you get to the match?
@@83dezzatyson yeah
Excellent post..great Cumbrian derby..best wishes from deepest Prenton on the wirral..E
I went to Barrow v Enfield Town in the late 80's in the FA Trophy over 6,000 were there...the crush barriers were scaffolding poles and were getting passed to the front buckled in the Holker Steet end probably just before Hillsborough ?
I was in the holker street end when that happened.i was behind the scaffold bar and it just bent.it was dangerous to say the least.
Hi Sam been here since 10k
Or even better - the Highland League Cup final on Sat 9th April at Station Park, Nairn. Buckie Thistle v Brora Rangers. Should be some match if the league match last week between Buckie and Brora is anything to go by. One of the best goals you will see anywhere all season was scored by Buckie.
You need to get to the Cambridgeshire derby next year in the Newmarket road end at the abbey
Barrow also won the FA Trophy in 1990 by beating us [ Leek Town ] 3-0 at Wembley . Leek at the time where the lowest ranked team that season to reach the final , we played in the HFS Loans league back then , as for Barrow they were in the conference league
Hello, so you are back in the UK... hope you enjoyed Portugal. 🍻
the last 3 non re-elected teams were Barrow Workington and Southport
Come back to Penrith for a game we have some rangers and Hamburg fans coming down for a game
Barrow is closer to Preston than Carlisle and until 1974 was Lancashire and to me always will be.The nearest league team currently is Morecambe!
Carlisle is nothing of any interest and they should stop trying to associate themselves with Barrow.
Ur finally back from the UK
Mate plz come to airdrie vs cove rangers up at airdrie
I remember when Carlisle were top of the old first division in 1974. They got promoted with Luton and Jack Charlton's Middlesbrough but were relegated after just one season. There was a bit of a rivalry between Carlisle and Boro in those days but that's long gone.
2 seasons I believe it was.
Also beet A.S Roma away in Rome & drew with then 2 - 2 at Brunton Park in an afternoon game this was in
The Anglo - Italian Cup during that time the Government was urging people to be careful how much electricity they where useing as there was a National shortage U.K wide with lots of blackouts & lights had to be turned off early at night but yet Government buildings apparently where light up like Christmas trees at night this is from what I have been told & read I am 40 but in terms of The A.S Roma game at Brunton Park School Children where given the afternoon off to go to Brunton Park to watch the game from what I have read.
The away game was not well attended I believe it was also an afternoon game I think if I remember rightly it end 3 - 2 to Carlisle United you need to remember it was
The Anglo - Italian Cup not a more presides Cup so I dought A.S Roma took it to seriously.
T
We also played another Italian club that I have never heard of & Blackpool in The Anglo- Italian Cup.
Keep Safe.
I am a Scottish Carlisle United fan.
@@alanfox691 1974/75 was their only season in the top flight. As GS R mentioned though, they did top the table after 3 games.
@@alanfox691 Hiya Alan, my Dad was at the game at Brunton Park Versus Roma, my Dad was at the record attendances against Middlesbrough, Everton and Celtic offically its 27,500 but unofficially its 30,000,Carlisle were the first team to beat Celtic when they won the European Cup in 1967, Me, Dad and brother in law were at the match against Aldershot when Carlisle broke the record attendance for Vauxhall confrence 11,600 and Carlisle won 4-3 on penalties, this is Choppy in Whitehaven, Cumbria, England

Thanks for the info.
Your Dad was lucky he got to see our real glory days memory's that will stay with your Dad for life.
We badly need a new Stadium if we want to move forward as a club as things stand we are treding water.
The first game I came down for was
against A.F C Bournemouth in 2012 as they where climbing up the league's you could see they where a club really on the up at that time.
I was brought up in a Rangers household myself though my extend family in mixed but even when I was growing up I was always looking at football further a field Scottish football never really held my interest much I was always more interested in English football.
Have bumped in to Hibernian fans from Carlisle on my travels down & up mostly when me & my Girlfriend have been on our way down.
Keep Safe
How haven't you been a Wrexham game this season with the Hollywood new owners? You waiting for the playoff games?
Couldn’t move! You’d have hated the old fashioned surges down the terraces.
Luton for the Prem. That’s all that really matters.
Super Carlisle 💙
Why is "record attendance" splashed across the thumbnail for this vid?
I`m really struggling to determine which attendance record was broken at this match.
Apart from that another good video.
It was barrows record attendance for a league since the 70s they mentioned on the commentary
@@CLARKSONALLOTMENT Ahh, I missed that. That said it is rather "a biggest attendance since" than a "record attendance".
Still love this bloke`s videos, especially the ones involving the lower league clubs. Propper football! (Coming from someone who`s club are currently in the Prem).
the Barrow strip looks quite similar to this season's Hibs strip
Just the Hibs shirt is a better looking version of it in my view.
Bet it's nice for Carlisle to have a local derby
90 miles away from us. Nice to have another Cumbrian team in (even if some of them still consider themselves Lancastrian) but it isn't a team we give much thought to. That said, it could grow into a decent rivalry.
@@Bruntonpete ah didn't realise so far, Gretna FC was closer! Nah get it wont be a big derby yet due to not playing them really. Be like if Harrogate or Halifax got in same league as my team (Huddersfield)
Cumbria is by far one best places to visit on football or even rugby away day. Based on sites and views. It be so good to see a team in Cumbria in the EPL.
Lol barrows ground in the prem wtf you on 😂
Yeah but we like it that way. Nobody bothers us much and it stays Barrovian. Many prefer the non-league for that reason.
Great video! Me and my buddies loved it. Tell your pal fusion josh to shave his neck beard. Thank you and see in you in the next one. Kind Regards your number one fan Willy xoxo ps can you ask your missus where she got her shades from. ;)
Who do you think you are his beards lovely and im sure there not actually his missus' shades pal. Come meet at holker street and ill have you xoxo
too far mate
🤓
You need to go and watch Oldham athletic and sit in the Jimmy frizzle stand. Even though we lose most games the atmosphere is world class
When are you visiting north Wales to visit Wrexham FC ?
Alan Shields
Hamilton
South Lanarkshire
Scotland.
Looks like it was Barrow that got battered.
C.U.F.C Pride of Cumbria always will be.
From a Carlisle United point of view we see Preston N.E , Burnley & lastly Hartlepool United in that order as our biggest rivals the police marched the Monkey Hangers from
Carlisle Train Station to
Brunton Park & back again when I went to down for that game there is definitely more honestly towards they 3 clubs than towards Barrow from a Carlisle United point of view Barrow are just small fry to us though hopefully the rivalry can grow in time.
C.O.Y.C. ( Carlisle United )
Pride of Cumbria.
Keep Safe Sam.
This addresses Carlisle being the greatest team in Cumbria
My team got knocked out FA CUP BY BARROW DIDNT GO AS IT WAS A MID WEEK REPLAY NOW I KNOW WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE GOOD VIDEO AGAIN I HERD EVEN FROM CARLISLE BARROW FAR 🚜🚜🚜🤣🤣
Barrow is ye olde Lancashire or Westmoorland before it is Cumberlanderish.
Need to Wrexham mate! Absolutely full of history and Absolutely bouncing!

Carlisle are the only team in Cumbria. My garden shed is bigger than that ground
Goooooo GgU
A 8 year old with a Burberry scarf! Where do these hooligans come from!!
Do Swindon vs foris green
It does look like Barrow will be alright - just, not quite by the skin of their teeth but not by much more than that - but by heck, do they cut it fine! That's historically speaking as well, I was reading about their decades in the League in the past and they always seemed to be fighting a grim battle for survival. But what an example they've set for all the old ex-league teams in the National...if Barrow can get back where they belong, why not Bradford PA, Gateshead, Southport?
None of them have a American based millionaire pumping money in
It was southport and wigan took their place 100% correct
First
Blue army 💙
I am off to Barrow on Saturday with my son off to watch Barrow take on Port Vale
Just a couple of questions
1. How was parking at Barrow?
2. If you ever come to Port Vale would you like to do a collaboration with my son Alfie? I will sort the tickets
His RUclips channel is AB7
Hope to hear back from you

Not a Cumbrian Derby at all. Barrow in Furness is in the historic County of Lancashire. It never moved anywhere. Barrow have a Lancashire red rose on their shirts. My cousin was born in Barrow in Lancashire and hates it classed as Cumbria which is the Milton Keynes Dons of counties. It consists of part of Lancashire , Cumberland, Westmoreland and the West Riding of Yorkshire. Classed as Cumbria since 1974.😡😡😡
Southport were the last team voted out off the league.
I herd wolves would have been relegated and Fulham but that election progress saved them 🚜🚜🚜🚜
Get down the Stockport county
