I'm from Preston and they opened up the building about 4 years ago to hold a "made in Britain" design event. They even opened up the old bar and served beer etc. The pictures stuck on the wall are from areas they gave to design students from the university to show off their work. I've got a picture of the bar from the event on my instagram if anyone's interested. It hadn't changed since the 70's. Looks like it has been stripped out now

I know it's 2 years on but I thought I would put up a little history that u found regarding the building.
Deans Court Chambers was original Preston Central Post Office and that was what it was built to be and its purpose. It was built in 1901-03 to the design of post office specialist Henry Tanner of the Office of Works. The style is Northern Renaissance/Jacobean Revival. It is now a grade II listed building. You can see the post office coat of arms and 1901 date engraved uclose to the top of the building and all the fencing is post office cdesign also it closed by post office in the early 2000s.
There were talks 5 +years ago that a hotel chain would be buying the building and renovating it to be a 60 room hotel with spa, pool etc, it may well have been changed already, not sure but just a bit of history.

Brilliant, edge of me seat again. Thumbs up again from me, what an interesting old building. The 110v lighting systems and scaffolding would suggest that at least a part of the building is being refurbished for something. Till the next one guys, have fun :o)

What was the Couriers Club? there was reference to it on the dart board 16:26 and on the yellow sign 22:54, Maybe a space for the post office workers to relax? The heinz beans and yorkshire tea labels pasted to the wall look like entries to some kind of design competition, maybe for the members of the club? I think they painted the comic book character on the wall to brighten things up a bit down there :)

I keep having to pause else id forget but the painting of figures in the basement is correct Dan, between the '40s to mid to late 50's American style/themed comic book characters but I can not tell you which as I can not see enough of the guy, but the woman was enough to figure it out.

Wow, that was interesting . Does Royal Mail or government own it today??? I know sometimes I leave the odd "banter post" 🙈😂 but I genuinely enjoy your videos. It's almost hard to comprehend the amount of abandoned buildings, mansions, government and private facilities are abandoned here in Britain that wee don't know about. That's why now yous have me wondering if there are such places here. Have you ever jumped on the ferry and came over here to Ulster(NI) . My interest is sparked now wondering what lies little or not known about over here. It'd be good fun exploring only knowing my luck I'd come across forgotten loyalist or republican arms dump or other "troubles" related secrets 😂😂😂🇬🇧

Those images on the wall are Iron Man, with the woman, and probably Spider-Man on the other wall looking at the position of the feet. They're likely 60/70's era, the blue in Spider-Man was probably prone to light bleaching which is why it's now white and red.

I worked in here in 2008 doing my work experience laying some carpet down on the ground floor room across from the city council which rented the room to a art exhibition for a couple years after, I had a good roam around pretty much all of the building wile I had the chance, some strange rooms in there, there was rooms with used needle disposal boxes and medical stuff as though it was some kind of drug rehabilitation center, did you guys not come across the old mail workers bar canteen and dance floor, that was it in them pictures of that woman at the end of vid. Apparently there was plans to turn this into the Harris hotel in 2017 with a massive restoration but was probably scrapped because of the extensive work needed harrishotel.co.uk/

either way.....they could even clean it up, make it safe enough to give tours, and use the money to keep fixing the place up and staff it... till it could be put to more uses.....
always makes me sad seeing stuff like that just sitting unused...
need the original of that superhero image....
bit trick with ol dstairs, stick to the edges... and as u already do, check each one...i been in lots of fucked up houses/structures... some in active use despite areas being unsafe to access... just...eeesh..
