It's the nuances of being excited, nervous and guilty over the prospect of taking the song from her friend. A lot of actors have a hard time portraying multiple layers of emotion like this. Jennie did amazing in this scene.

Her acting is really good as first timer. From expressing tons of emotions nervous excited happy and sad holding her tears when she heard there would be her single and tour to disclosing the news to Jos how she snatched her song with an innocent face and caring voice. WOW..Im impressed Dyanne

I like the progression of Dyanne (Jennie) they are taking good care of her. The first episode, they did not rush her by putting her in her comfort zone which is dancing. then a little talking here and there, some singing in the bar and now her biggest screen time of the series and she SLAYED. Jennie had time to get some experience and be at ease with her role gradually. Well tought by The Idol Director. Now lets hope for more in the next episodes.

i know fans are saying her acting was good but tbh it didn't look good to me. i usually pay close attention to acting when watching a movie or sth and it's the 'delicate emotions' which actually show the best acting. this looks overly acting. she's showing too much emotion here. that shows how inexperienced she is as an actress. naturally, in a situation like this in a room full of those kinda ppl, you would probably look more dumbstruck and flabbergasted than this. don't get me wrong i absolutely 100000% love jennie. she's my favorite girl ever trust me. i looooove her. and she's my bias. but i have to be honest with my opinion on this. perhaps if she took more acting lessons i think she'll do much better. even great. wishing you all the best of luck nini. love you.
Yeah she is not good. She doesn't look like she is acting but she looks like she's nervous but I mean really nervous in reality, not for the movie. It's uncomfortable. And her voice is unclear too for acting. Maybe she fakes her voice too much accent idk. She just basically cannot act. Too much pressure.

professional actors said she can't act... lmaoooo she isn't the best that's for sure and not the worse but she is definitely no Zendeya or Timothe. Many actresses and others who are in the industry ( insider interview) have said that her fake American accent is "cringy". Troye Sivan is an Australian actor but his American accent is pretty good in this series Jennie's voice sounds a bit off and her new Zealand accent comes out a bit. Due to this it causes her voice and pronunciation to be strained.Not only Jennie is called a bad actress but also The Weekend. I don't care how much you like them or stan them but you can't be delusional. These are people with 0 experience in acting so of course you cant expect them to be good on the first try. But due to the bad reputation of the show and the actors they used, they are canceled the season 2. I hope Jennie enters in acting classes and works on her American accent. I would love to see her perfect it and get better gigs in the US. no hate toward her :*

Thoughts on that close up shot: You can tell she’s not listening, just acting like she’s listening. It’s definitely more noticeable when it’s isolated from the context of the show. Some of the expressions she makes here are on point. But she shifts through them so fast it feels forced, and almost none of them read as a reaction to what is being said. She’s got potential but I hear people calling this nuanced acting and y’all just wanna throw any kind of compliment her way without knowing what it means. Her shifty posture and placement of hands also reads as performative nervousness instead of authentic. Her scene later in the show with Lily Rose Depp was better but I suspect the reason they cut down her character is because Jennie is still new to this, and there is no shame in that. Throughout the show she has shown that she is more than capable. She just needs some more lessons, great acting isn’t easy
