Most people want to live in a safe area. Face the facts. In a lot of black area's Walmart, Wall Greens, other stores are leaving like In and Out burger in Oakland. Black Shoplifting and crime caused the stores to close & leave. Young black men kill more people than most anybody else. Even successful blacks move out of these black crime areas. I would never put my kids in black crime ridden schools and neither do successful black people. Who wants to talk all day about the crime and murders all the time. It is unproductive! Move where your kids don't have to listen to that unproductive nonsense, but can learn get a good education and live in productive safe areas! My kids deserve that and as their father I will make sure they get it! Remember this we don't have to live in St George we can go lots of other safe places. It's not that big of a deal!

His rhetoric is full of fallacies.
      1. East Baton Rouge Parish has not recorded a population since 1810.
      2. The City-Parish has had a consolidated government since the 1940s, similar to larger cities like Jacksonville, FL, Nashville, TN, and Louisville, KY.
      3. They have had and will continue to have representation in the parish’s government, but it’s clear they want total control and influence over the consolidated arrangement.
Additionally, many areas in the parish haven’t been annexed into the city since the current government arrangement was established (e.g., Merrydale, Monticello, Shenandoah, Oak Hills, and more). This is suspect, as these developed areas flood constantly-look back to the 2016 floods and see how hard these areas were hit. They don’t subsidize the city. The mayor had to fight to put up an aqua dam to protect them from floods and lost her battle in Louisiana’s courts. They don’t have a plan for public schools, and many concerned parents who live in the area send their kids to top schools in the state like Liberty Magnet and Baton Rouge High School. The financial numbers they cite are questionable, as a couple of the state’s justices dissented, noting that there was no solid data to support their claims.

LOL, that's what they want you to believe. One of the state's largest taxpayers in the city proper is Exxon. Considering the extensive infrastructure and flood recovery efforts the City/Parish has maintained over the decades, St. George residents will soon realize that much of their development is being subsidized by the rest of the parish. St. George is bordered by a frequently flooding bayou. Look into the AquaDam the Mayor fought against to save that part of the city during floods, and lost to another parish leader Mitch Oruso in 2021

I live in Los Angeles County. Over 100 years ago the city of Pasadena split off from LA for the exact same reason (back then everyone was white so the only colors were white and green, as in money). Since then 30 other cities within LA County have split off. Today there are 274 cities in LA County and the 31 best to live in are all the same 31 that broke away and became financially independent from LA county. They all have their own schools, police departments, fire departments etc. it’s proof that small government works better.

I am an outsider but it seems to me that this happened. A large city had a nice area (Baton Rouge) and they taxed them like crazy to feel the poorer area (New St. George). People got tired of it and tried to negotiate it. The current administration (Democrat) knew that their position was so strong in the area that they didn't need to talk. There was nothing in their mind that Baton Rouge could do. So they laughed at them, and then just made fun of them. But Baton Rouge decided to break away. St George thought this would be impossible and fought it tooth and nail in court. The court didn't go their way so now they want to smear Baton Rouge as a bunch of racist. The media of course focuses on this and pushes the narrative in all their discussions. To me this is a lesson as a leader to always listen to your constituents.

Only a fool would believe the motivation for the split is not both class and race based. The city was always highly segregated. So we’re the schools until the early 80s. When bussing was forced by the courts, I remember protests. I remember the buckeye three. I remember the white flight to all the very new private schools. My whole life I’ve seen and heard complaints about doing what is fair- providing all equal access to public funds and public resources. As certain as I am this is all race based, I’m equally certain it would have never happened if state law required all funding for schools to go into one pool that is then equally divided. But delude yourself with whatever delusion you need to so that you can sleep at night and pretend you are a pious Christian.
