Loved the tractor wheelies around the stool at the end 😲. Integrating steel, timber and CNC work into one delightful video was very satisfying to watch while I procrastinated about starting work.
You integrated a cnc into your shop perfectly. I guess if the grooves ever become annoying from dust in the future, you could always fill the negative spaces with resin. But then again, it's also nice to just be at one with dust. lol. Anyhow, top quality vid, and great outro!
You did a real nice job Jeremy. a lot better welding than I have ever done. I have a video coming out next week were i build a small trailer and the welder broke on me. no gas .then me feed motor went on the fritz. had to use my small ark to finish it off. What a disaster but I managed to finish it. Very rough welds but it held. Looks like you got it down to a tee. love seeing your builds
+Franks DIY Thank you! I used to work at a welding shop, so I learned how to weld pretty well. Unfortunately I haven't welded enough lately so I'm getting a little rusty! (no pun intended)
Very smart. I particularly like the compound angles and the full size 'jig' for setting out. I've just bought an arc welder for repairing some of the sheep gates (it's amazing how the break thwm); similar size box sections - not sure my welding is going to be up to yiur standard though.
awesome. its got to be intimidating starting a maker youtube channel. There is so much talent in your video, alot of the hgtvs of the world could learn a thing or two from you and a number of others on youtube.
The bolt-under-the-square trick is really cool. Is there any math that tells you what angle it will produce (of course there is but that you were aware of )?
Nice! One thing though.. Sawdust is going to fill the beautiful carving on the top, maybe fill it with epoxy? That way you can easilly wipe the seat clean
+wdonders The idea behind the seat texture was to make it more comfortable. Filling with epoxy would make it hard and slick, which is exactly what I don't want. Also I tend to keep my shop fairly clean, so the dust buildup hasn't been an issue.
Great project and vid. Any chance you have the gcode file or cad file for your seat? I am assembling my own and first CNC router and I think the stool top is a great idea. What software did you use to create the seat profile? Thank in anticipation.
+Bill Blake Thanks. I use V-Carve Pro. I think I can get you the seat drawing in a variety of CAD formats, but you'll want to create the G-code yourself to suit your machine. If you want the 2d CAD drawing you can email me and let me know what format you want, so I can send that to you.
NIce one thanks for the link, very helpful. BTW I thought your table saw fence was genius when I can afford a proper table saw I'm doing that. Just built a nice bench for my cheap Ryobi 10" and the motor back bearing decided to disintegrate on me. Had a lot of fun stripping it down though to find the problem lucky it's a cheap fix replacing the bearing tomorrow. Thanks again.
Perhaps add TIG to your welding equipment. These small section, short run, and tight confined joints are a bear in MIG - even with run-in and run-out ramps- that you're not using. good design, nice wood execution, decent metal set up- welding lags behind all the other considerations of the video. TIG may be the solution to tiny joints with clean non-dressed beads?
Áwesome what you can do with a cnc machine and of course congratulation how you made the construction of youre chair a like the cuts angles you made to asamble .
Really nice work. But I see the stool is unstable on the uneven surface. 3-legs stools are ALWAYS stable, no matter how uneven surface it is. ;-) Think about it.
+ChristOfCancelSky I wanted to make this three-legend for that reason, but that makes it a lot more tippy (easier to knock over). And my shop floor is fairly flat.
+sntgchns My CNC started out as a CNC Shark Pro Plus (which has since been discontinued), but it was much too weak to be any good so I replaced the gantry. It's definitely not something I would recommend to anyone else, but circumstances got me into it. It's a good machine but cost over $5k by the time I got it working to my satisfaction.
+Matthan Abe I showed it twice in the video so I wouldn't get this question... It's a Miller 211 AutoSet, older style (there's a new version of it now).
That was awesome!!! Incredible video work. Love how you filmed the angle grinder from inside the tube.
+Toolify
Thanks! :)
Inside the tube shot was probably the best thing. Very innovate filmmaking.
+Trent Robertson
Thanks! :)
Super creativity, photography also. Thank you very much for this video uploading.
Looks awesome! You made that look easy. Your process was very methodical and well conceived.
Great job man, nothing like homemade, lasts twice as long and is just satisfying to create.

Thank you! I appreciate the elegant choice of words :)
Howdy from Canada, Nice work you do you are a good craftsman!

Thank you very much! So far dust in the grooves hasn't been a problem, but I do like the resin idea. I'll keep that in mind :)
Very well done. That should last you a lifetime.
+John Conklin
Thanks!
Very nice, especially the "cookie" look of the seat. Compliments!
+Tweakwood
Thank you!
Very nice work, really liked the shots from the inside of the tube !
+Thomas Desor
Thank you!
A nice sturdy looking stool, great idea and video.
+Smallest Workshop (Geoff Harris)
Thanks!

Love the cinematography and editing!
Wow did that ever turn out nice, love the design.
Crazy awesome angles!
A very well presented build Jeremy. Great stool!
+Happytrippyhippy
Thank you!
thank you for this video, you gave me a lot of idea, I also have a CnC so no problem, you work very well congratulations

Thanks!
Nice build, but even more amazing video, with brilliant shots.👍👍👍
+Mienecus
Thank you!
I know the name is Jer's *Woodshop*, but I really love your metal work.
+ Matt Maloney Well his last name is Schmidt, which is German for Smith. That should do. I guess.
Great build!!!! Awesome video work!!! Good job as always Jer!!!
+dutch971
Thanks!
Very nicely build.
Excellent stool and video...!
Cheers...
excellent job on the stool and the video Jeremy!

Thanks!
If the weld holds...that's up to my standard. Unless it's in a highly visible place.
Great job Jeremy.
+Alex Gordon
Thanks.
Very nice! Great build.

Thank you!
0:53 Holy fuck, that's easily one of the most beautiful shots I've ever seen !
Very nice work !

Amazing work! love that stool.
came out great!
+Bruce's shop stuff and other things
Thanks!
beautiful work
Now I'm going to have to make a stool of my own, cause I've seen you do it, but I do need one for the TIG table. Cheers.
Very interesting job sir
Have missed your content. Hope you are well
0:53 really liked that shot.
+Savvas Papasavva
Thanks!
Great video Jeremy
+Robin Lewis
Thanks
great job
very impressive
great job Jeremy.
+Mike West
Thanks! But I have to say... I don't think you watched the whole thing before commenting ;)
+Jeremy Schmidt very intuitive, you are correct sir. is that a new shop?
+Mike West
No, my metalworking shop and woodworking shop are in separate buildings. Most of this was filmed in the metalworking shop.
The bolt-under-the-square trick is really cool. Is there any math that tells you what angle it will produce (of course there is but that you were aware of )?
sweet cool seat
Nice vid great camera work
Nice Stool!!! Pour some maple syrup over it and it would look good enough to eat!
Sensacional, incrível idéia, Congratulacion.
Pretty amazing skills young man.
Nice stool
Nice done ! Thanks
Holy flying insects Batman!!! Geez!! You right next ot some wetlands or something?
Nice!

Ah ok, unlike my shop :-)
Very nice.

very very good work
Living in the country............nice.
+frankie2234
It's the best! Only downside is the 1-1/2 hour drive for wood...
very sweet!
just curious, considering how well equipped your shop is, why do you choose to cut metal by hand with a hacksaw?
+elindred
My metal-cutting bandsaw is in storage...no where to set it up at the moment.
Great project, that cnc is class, my Dad has a welder I may get some lesson from him. What brand finish did you use on the top?
+John McCarthy
Thanks!
The finish was Zinsser spray shellac: www.amazon.com/dp/B0009X8HWG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_forPxbYXBMZCT

I wouldn't have thought to use a bolt with my combination square. To draw lines that are not square to the reference edge.

Yeah, totally. But I don’t have a TIG and don’t want to spend the money for one right now.
yes, not free! Hey wait a minute- have you approached any of the welding supplier firms- utube sponsorship and all that!
so nice
Thats it! I'm gonna buy a welding machine!
+BWP
Great to hear! They are so useful I'm sure you won't regret it!
Ye old waffle stool~
HOLY SHIT. That match cut for your logo~ awesome stuff mate.
Spotted ! Nice DIresta hat... ;)

:)
Áwesome what you can do with a cnc machine and of course congratulation how you made the construction of youre chair a like the cuts angles you made to asamble .
Nice work! Tell me please, what thickness of metal you are sawed with a hacksaw on a 4.53?)
+Дмитрий Островитянин
1/8"
Jeremy Schmidt
Thank you, good hacksaw)
отличная работа!
Jeremy, you are the next Jimmy Diresta.
+Roger Poindexter
Wow, that's quite a compliment! :) Thanks!
Why did you make some cuts with a hack saw and some with a grinder? Why not just use the grinder on all the cuts?
Really nice work.

Thanks! :)
Build a bug zapper next.
Great project buddy! What cnc do you use?
Were you on a bike filming the last shot? Great video as always
+Metal head Woodshed
A ripstik ;-)
very nice work.....but the top looks like a giant biscuit ; )
Can you post a video about your CNC's machine?. It's homemade? Thanks, great job!
+sntgchns

Buen Trabajo
Great job, I need a welder soon :)
+Darbin Orvar
Thanks! Yes you do, having a welder opens up so many creative possibilities.
If u need welders can contract me
nice, what software do you use for the cnc?
+Eason Qin
V-carve Pro
Could you tell me really how much time you took to make it.?
what type of welding machine you use it?
+Matthan Abe
I showed it twice in the video so I wouldn't get this question...
It's a Miller 211 AutoSet, older style (there's a new version of it now).
Ooooh, empty space ... is that for cluttering with tools and stuff?
And nice stool as a starting project. At least there is room for it ... :D
For some reason now I'm hungry for waffles?
+John Harris
Haha! :)
Yes!!
+RetroWeld
Thanks Douglas!
