Hi Daniel -I am so glad that you have found a widening audience on RUclips. You have terrific videos. I know you mean it when you say that your reputation is more important than the money in your pocket.
What really concerns coin collecting are fake NGC and PCGS slabbed coins. Especially the older NGC with photos when graded. I’m glad that you made this video.
Thanks Daniel for showing and documenting these fakers with photos so collectors can be aware and hip to their game. Your expertise and opinion is most appreciated.
Daniel, I can't believe that anyone in the coin community would use fake labels and grades just to make money. It's really is sad because I always liked buying graded coins. I don't feel comfortable anymore after hearing this video but your sweet voice relaxes me always. Love hearing and watching your videos. Earlene
Hello Daniel. You are definitely a well-versed coin dealer. It's really great that you're doing videos like this. Many aspiring coin collectors need to learn from you, so that they stay coin collectors and not get swayed away by ripoffs.

Another comment I thought about towards the end of this video is the fact, people should now list their coins as being Gem BU or Gem BU+ on eBay if they are raw. According to standards used by PCGS, NGC, ANACS, and sources such as "The Official Red Book - A Guide Book of United States Coins," for a coin to be Gem BU it has to at least grade out MS65. Thanks again for another great information filled video.

You just reminded me of several slabbed coins I bought(w/ some other items), a few years back, in one of those "estate" auctions. The name is INB on the coins. The printing is even faded so badly, I need a magnifying glass to read them. Several are marked MS70. I know I didn't pay a lot for them, as I have always been a suspicious person.(ex-MIL called me a Philadelphia lawyer because I wouldn't fall for her "jokes") I had even put a note on them that the company overgrades coins.
I bought a coin from a shop in my town that was graded by a company that I don't believe exists any more NNCS - National Numismatic Certification Service in July of 1986. It was an MS64 $1 1898-O. I was able to get the coin regraded by NGC at MS64. That's personally my only interaction with anything besides PCGS and NGC. Great video, videos like this are very helpful for those who are newer to coins and might not know what to look out for. Not too long ago on eBay, there was a seller selling coins graded by one of these "fake" companies. I always make sure to read the feedback of sellers that I am newly buying from. Thanks

Good job Daniel, I have bought a few of those things, I got a 1960 D/D, and I got a 1960D, no RPM, I have been collecting for about a year and a half, but I learned that, I wish I would have watched this 1st. Thanks for your great informative videos. The old guy in Florida 😎
Daniel, I loved the bumper music leading into this video.. I watch your videos frequently since I am new to the precious metals collecting.. Thank you so much for all your advice!!. T.E.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I truly appreciate it! I'm also very happy to see your links to other videos! That is so helpful! I almost gave up on coin collecting, but I have some hope after watching your videos. Thanks very much!
Great video. I collect ancients, so rely exclusively on NGC grading. I didn't realize how prevalent fake NGC slabs are until watching your videos. From my perspective there are some VERY realistic looking fake ancients out there - I mean the right metal, the right striking method, the right toning. I didn't realize I had to deal with fake NGC slabs too :-(
Thank you Daniel. I used to get a kick out of seeing all the different slabs out there. I thought it was funny when I was offered an MS-66 coin for 90 o/o back of bid. It's not so funny when you have to tell someone's dad or grandmother that their coins aren't what they thought they were. As with all things in life, educate yourself before spending a lot of money. Thank you for doing your part.
Thank you, I'm just starting out collecting coins, and I thought if the coin was graded by PCGS it had to be a good coin. Now I'll be more careful when I buy especially on eBay. Your doing a great service!
Thankyou great information here in Canada there are grading companies that use deception to sell coins but I as a collector always tell people to consult a dealer before buying. I live in Halifax and we only have one coin dealer in the city but he is very good and always ready to help a collector no matter if you are experienced or a new one. I have been collecting for 50 plus years and I can tell you that even the Royal Canadian mint has used deception at times to sell coins but the Canadian mint is privately owned now and considers themselves a business but they were able to somehow allowed to use and keep the RCM name and people still think that if its the RCM it has to be good well buyer beware I tell people.
List your source that the Canadian Government is not owned by the Canadian Government, that would be huge news if true and I don't see anything about it.
This is great information, thank you so much for sharing. I make a point to NOT buy coins in those cheap holders that have hand written notes on them. Ive had the best luck only buying from reputable dealers like you.
This video is a coin help u classic!! Real good stuff. Daniel is on the cutting edge of the nuts and bolts coin dealing. And he's out here saying what needed to be said in this video. If I didn't have this channel and a couple others to watch and help me know the hobby better the hobby would be much more difficult to navigate. You do us a real service here Daniel! Thank you!! This is my 2nd or third time veiwing this episode of coin helps u. I 1st watched it when it aired. Its cool to go back and watch a rerun with some nostalgia for a year ago and where I was in my numismatic journey 12 months ago. O how much more knowledgeable I am due to watching coin help u, coin opp, ben the coin geek, blue ridge silver hound, and numismatic stacker (formally known as coin group of Minnesota or CGOM) everyone in the hobby should check out those channels if they have not yet done so. Thanks again Daniel for the amazing resource with these videos.
I really Respect what you put out, I buy 100’s of coins monthly and I have learned a tremendous amount of information about coin collecting From your channel, Thanks Steve
Thank you for taking time out of your business to help us newer collectors I am sending some coins into annex they have been around a long time and like you said if the company’s been around that long they must be doing something right
Daniel, this was such an informative video and it hits home. My Grandson got a coin back from PCGS I saw it. It didn't have a grade on it or much of anything. Guess what and I saw it. It was put in upside down. Now if he wants to get more info on it it will cost him money. Insurance, postage that he has already paid to have it redone. He is a member of them. He has sent so many to them. One Lincoln was it looked to me and him. Triple stamped and so much going on with this coin. It isn't in the best shape but all the things I saw wrong on that coin was incredible. He looked it up to see if anything like that had been found. He didn't find anything. I know this isn't your problem. We're both confused by what PCGS did. They didn't tell him anything on the slab. He called them and nothing. I don't sell my coins or even send then in to be graded. My Grandson has a uncanny eye for this kind of thing. He has been doing this for over three years. Sorry for the rant we both are confused by this so called reputable company.
PCGS doesn't label them if they're not true mint errors. You also must send them in under their mint error tier. I also suggest you and your grandson to look at the sold error auctions at Heritage and error-ref.com. All major errors worth anything have been classified, there's just only so much that can happen during the current minting process. So finding some new fan-dangled error is not likely. The latest dramatic error was trapped burnished ball in a golden dollar, this appears to have been an anomaly but still a possibility considering the currency minting process. You can look up multiple struck coins at Heritage and match your coin to what it should look like.
@@CoinHELPu I will remind him but he already knows this. He checks out his coins on all the sites. I don't know if he know about this one. Thanks for replying. I just wrote it down to give it to him. In case he hasn't heard of this one. I'm truly sorry to bother you.
Thank you sharing from your heart! I learned so much! I hope to find a pro in the SF area who is as savvy and cares to teach those of us who are new, passionate, and honest businesspeople. A righteous rant! It comes when I am learning that there has to be other ideas how to use my collection besides sitting in a storage safe. I'm open to your ideas. Thanks again,
The collecting community should absolutely boycott any purchase of a collectible coin, gemstone, antique, watch, etc being sold by anyone in China. With very few exceptions, you will be getting a fake item. If people stopped buying from all Chinese sellers, the effort to produce these fraudulent items will discourage the criminals from making & marketing them. Granted some legit Chinese sellers may initially feel the pain, but it should encourage them to demand that the Chinese government begins to seriously police their dealers. The word needs to be spread loud & clear & worldwide that anything purchased from China is most likely a fake. We must dry up this market in fake collectibles or the entire system will be so damaged/contaminated that these markets will never recover.
WOW! I never thought about fake grading companies ever! How about those fake slabs.China oh brother this definitely doe not surprise me that’s for sure! Whoa! I wonder if EBay can check these out or what! I am DEFINITELY LEARNING from your videos! Then these people get nasty with you ! That’s complete shame too! Great information Daniel! Thanks a lot 👍🎈👍👍 V
Buyer beware , I always try to my due diligence am I spot on every time no. Your video today underscores there those in our hobby who will take advantage of you if possible. Thanks for video reminder.
Feel free to add the MNS/MNS (Michigan Masters Numismatic service) TPG Morgan I showed on your FB page, don't see that one listed. According to Coin Community forums: MMNS did have one innovative slab idea. Back before the edgeview type slabs MMNS produced what they called their Holoview slabs. These had a beveled mirror built into the slab around the coin that allowed you to see the entire edge of the coin while looking straight on at the coin.
Old IGS holders circa 2000 can have some good coins in them. There’s a newer IGS slab that’s pretty suspect from what I’ve read. Best thing to do if you’re wanting rock solid investment returns is to buy graded from the top tier graded slabs. Third party is a mine field.
I believe that I commented on this before. Ebay only allows the top 4 grading companies and all the others have to be listed as uncertified without indication of a numerical grade. Report the sales! Use the drop down menu and select "prohibited and restricted items" under report category and then under reason for report select "stamps, coins and currencies" in the last one "detailed reason" select "uncertified coins" At this point select continue and you will be able to type in additional information about the sale of the coin. Ebay pays attention to this, i've been able to have many sellers removed by reporting them in this manner. If you select listing practices for the report it will likely go unnoticed. I've even seen sellers that list coins showing a label without a slab. Some of the sellers are listing a graded coin with a certification number in the details of the coin and its raw! Unscrupulous sellers and counterfeiters will not likely ever go away but if we all get involved we can make a positive impact to slow down the crooks and force ebay to make changes. One of the sites that I frequently use does this and all the members report any given coin sales that are posted, it does work!! E PLURIBUS UNUM "out of many one"
Thank you. Sounds like you are from a long linage of coin collectors. PCGS has always been the first out of your mouth. Have little motivation to buy on internet or collectible coin on internet or in retail store. Wish to find them on my own. Just trying to finish a coin collection while pennies can be searched from bank. Getting harder and harder to find something I don’t have.
Ok with the eBay seller with DMPL I religiously stay away from them why people haven't learned and you're absolutely right if it was that nice of a coin it would be graded
thanks Dan for putting this video out these fake coins are distroying the hobby. im from ohio and can say Dan is always willing to help and always polite

stage I really want to
be further educated.
I thank you so much for enlightening myself &
others like me to have
this information available.
I would like to eventually
send out coins for grading.
At that point I will refer to your charts. Thank you again.
Thank you
Thank you, I'm just starting out collecting coins, and I thought if the coin was graded by PCGS it had to be a good coin.
Thanks for another awesome video. Really appreciate you sharing your knowledge and experience. I trust NGC, PCGS ANACS and ICG.
You're welcome
Is icg good l been thinking long and hard lol of using them I started collecting 5 years ago but never had my coins graded.
You have definitely given me alot of knowledge I didnt have before I started watching your videos. Thankyou!
Thanks for all the great info. Keep on doing what you do. You may help someone from buying the wroung coin and geting ripedoff.
Fake slabs? I have learned something today. Thank you for the information 👍
Always a good day when you put out a video!!!!!
Thank you, means a lot to me.
Reputation over $$, at last somebody with morals!
You are truly a wealth of great information for me and all who follow you, Thank you for what you do.
You're welcome
I really Respect what you put out, I buy 100’s of coins monthly and I have learned a tremendous amount of information about coin collecting From your channel, Thanks Steve
Thank you!
Thank you for taking time out of your business to help us newer collectors I am sending some coins into annex they have been around a long time and like you said if the company’s been around that long they must be doing something right
I have noticed on ProxyBid that the 2 most numerous fake slabs they are auctioning are PGA (by far the most), NTC, ACC, and PCA
I appreciate you sharing your knowledge of graded coin collecting Daniel, many thanks and greetings from the Philippines
You're welcome
@@ShirlBussman You're not bothering me. I am glad to help out.
@@CoinHELPu I really appreciate your help. Thank you again.
problem is no shortage of ignorant buyers or collectors...myself included You do your best
Thanks again,
Join a coin club, dealers would not have time to mentor as you desire. Thanks
Awesome and excellent info Daniel, always top notch. Never stop what you do
Thanks for another great video!
You're welcome
ICCS and CCCS are well-known and recognized by my city in Québec. They're doing good jobs with Canadian coins and also it's cheaper than PCGS or NGC.
Yeah I agree, they both are actually pretty good, ICCS even launched their website last month which is what we all have been waiting for for so long.
I agree. I am slowly building a platform here and hopefully I will be able to have enough influence to help prevent much of that.
Thank you!
Thank you very much Daniel. Very valuable info. Especially for Us the new collectors, new to the hobby.
You're welcome
Really informative! Thank you, sir!
According to Coin Community forums:
MMNS did have one innovative slab idea. Back before the edgeview type
slabs MMNS produced what they called their Holoview slabs.
Thank you for your video, I actually bought two spoof PCGS from a China seller and they are supposed MS69 Morgan and they have the same serial number.
4 thumbs down my guess is four people who have been called on what they are doing. The truth hurts them.
Actually no matter what I post someone thumbs it down, they're subbed so they can thumb my vids as soon as they come out.
Good man - thank you for keeping people aware.
Daniel thanks for being straight up
Great information as always.Thanks.
Hi, Daniel and appreciate all you do to help us on coins . Thank you for helping us not get scam . Truth and I respect you and your knowledge . ☺️🤗❤️🙏
Because they top in resell, I like NGC better, but coins don't go for as much.
CoinHELPu Thank you
Thanks for sharing this information. I really need to know this. I'm sure other people do to. Keep making your videos 😊. Thank you again 😎 FL.
Great video. Thank you. Have a wonderful day and as always, Enjoy. CI
You're welcome!
@@CoinHELPu Thank you SIR
Ok with the eBay seller with DMPL I religiously stay away from them why people haven't learned
and you're absolutely right if it was that nice of a coin it would be graded
thank you again, your videos have taught me so much and what to avoid and what to look for.
Great video, Daniel!
One of the things I strongly dislike about PCI is that their holders tone their coins very strongly
Thank you for the videos... in the short time I've been watching them I have learned a lot.
Thank you
thanks Dan for putting this video out these fake coins are distroying the hobby. im from ohio and can say Dan is always willing to help and always polite
Thank you!
super interesting and instructive, thank you very much for sharing your knowledge and warning us about counterfeits.
Clear, concise, excellent information!
Keep up the good work!!
Thank you :-)
Another great video, thanks Daniel , they dare not come at you cuz you will prove them wrong with there fakes :)
Find these very useful, yes binge watching again. :)
Thank you
I learned the hard way still like SEGS 1921 Morgan' Zerbe die,s.
Keep up the good work you are doing. Maybe you'll save someone from leaving the hobby over this nonsense. I have my own stories from 50+ years in the hobby, both buying and selling. You're right on the money from all I have seen.
Thank you for all your videos and contributions to help the coin community. There very informative and love your honesty. Keep up the great work and thank you.. I'm kinda new to the hobby and I've learned so much from your videos..
Thank you, Daniel.
20th comment again! YES!! Another great video Daniel. I suspect the people who disliked this video are the ones you're calling out for selling dishonestly. Keep up the great work!
I think they're the same people who dislike every video just because they can. hide behind fake accounts. Might do a video on that subject. If you're not part of the help then you're part of the problem. Thanks!
Wow! This is good information to have being a new collector in the field. I certainly do not want to be taken advantage of. Thanks for this video, Daniel. It makes me more aware of what to look for. I sure like the toning coinage/rainbows though. They are magnificent looking. I found 2 pennies and a dime in pocket change so I know they are authentic. 😁
Thank you for your integrity!
