Everybody has it: A gaming backlog. The pile of shame - A gigantic list of games, bought but never touched, that is constantly nagging at your conscience. For some, this is a steam account full of games you got on several sales because you'll 'get to it eventually' - for others, it's a literal pile of physical media lying around in their house. For me, it was both.
The bigger this backlog got, the more I started to think if I even needed to buy new games, or older titles that were on a great sale, since I knew I wouldn't play most of them any time soon. But hype is contagious, so I continued to buy - wanting to play all those games at some point.
Well, I still do, and by playing through the world's biggest backlog, I'll help YOU to decide on which games are actually worth putting on YOURS. Because not all games are made equal, and sometimes you just need someone else to suffer through them to save you the pain - and maybe give you enjoyment in their suffering.
You might think 'I don't even care about that many games, just show me the ones I wanna see' and you are completely right about that! I first played Uncharted 1 two years ago so I don't have much nostalgia for it, and I'm honestly surprised the first game managed to do well enough to get sequels. I feel like there are just too many gunfights back-to-back, the later games give a lot more downtime between combat fights. On any difficulty higher than normal, I feel like the enemies take too many hits and deal too much damage for the gameplay to be enjoyable. Plus, what little variations there are in the combat aren't that fun to me (the jeep and the jetski). I respect this game for introducing the characters and establishing the tone of the series as a mostly lighthearted action-adventure romp, but I vastly prefer the sequels.

I can agree with all of that, except for the stuff about the sequels, since I haven't played them yet. Good to know I'm not the only one who thinks the game aged poorly

A small correction, Uncharted 1 does, in fact, have Trophies, actually, it was the first game ever to feature a platinum trophy. HOWEVER technically you are correct, on the basis that the game did NOT have trophies at launch, but were added later when the PS3 finally added Trophy support.
Video was good though, I really don't like or care for this series at all really. But that may be because I had already played so much Tomb Raider before this game, and also not having a PS3 around the time this game was relevant. This might be a hot take, but this might be one of the most over-rated games on the playstation platform. At the time, it was very impressive, the set pieces, the graphics looked great, and the story wasn't actually bad really. But outside of the graphics at the time (which were impressive, and this was one of the games people may have considered a console seller...) the game just isn't that much fun to play. Gun play is kind of ....terrible and just not much fun at all. The platforming, as you showed here, is pretty clunky. It was improved in later games, I think. But this being the first game in the series is no excuse for it being clunky or weird sometimes...especially when Naughty Dog had such a good repuation, even back then, for high quality titles. This game, in my opinion, was purely made to show off how powerful the PS3 was at the time. The 2nd and 3rd games are improved very much, but still kind of bland to me personally.

Didn’t I say it had no achievements at launch? Maybe I forgot to voice that part, I’m pretty sure it was in the script
Aaaaaanyways, I agree on most of this. Maybe I’d be a bit more lenient towards the game if I played it back then, but as a newcomer this much later, it just feels flawed on many levels. I had some good fun with my first run because I enjoyed the characters and set pieces, but everything that came after that just hammered down on the problems - hence my verdict of a single playthrough being the best you can do here
