Either adrenaline made him get ahead of the music , or she took out a small portion because she judged it a necessity. On first watch, I was sure it was the former, now I'm not positive. Then the first of two final drops was nearly a disaster. I think, on the whole, it was just his nerves revving him up a little too much. But they're a great partnership.
