Hi, story time❤ The music mention "The rabbit on the moon" that's actually one of Vietnamese's traditional fairy tale! And I'm gonna tell you about it(the best I could '--^--)) though they're not the main characters in the fairy tale. So I'll make it short: The rabbits that are on the moon are friends with a beautiful fairy named "Hằng Nga"(also on the moon) and on every mid-autumn festival, the rabbits would work together to make mooncakes for the human realm. The true origins of these rabbits were never mentioned in the fairy tale. And the story is linked with a few more stories, it is also believed to be pass down from when Vietnamese peoples were affected by Chinese culture, so this story could be from there. The rabbits are pure white with jem-like eyes, I think that's also the reason why in Vietnamese, they are called "Thỏ Ngọc"(Thỏ: rabbit; Ngọc: Jems). They bring good luck and is loved by many❤ Thanks for reading!!❤❤❤
Im not christian or catholic so im not sure which one it was. But one or both of those also have the story of the rabbit in the moon. The one I read was if i remember correctly god choosing someone to rule the sun but someone i think his brother objected and thus they ended up racing The guy who objected won but chose to let the original still become the ruler of the sun. Thus he was rewarded by being turned into a rabbit/hare (since he won the race) and was made the ruler of the moon. For sure stories about the rabbit/hare in the moon have been made for as long as there has been rabbits/hares because of the spots resembling one. and the moon is tidal locked (not sure if thats the term but it always faces the same direction it does spin but thats exactly why we always see the same spots). We look at it the same angle as our ancestors.
@@OrderedEntropy That definitely isn't from Christianity (of which Catholicism is a branch), since God is all-powerful and doesn't tend to delegate much in that faith. This story sounds very much like either Indian (American or otherwise) or far east Asian myth.
As for tidal locked, you got the term right; however the moon isn't _quite_ entirely stable in its orbit. There's a chance it might've turned slightly away in the millions of years its been around.
