This is one of the best performances on the USA portion of the tour, the whole band sounds really good. The soundcheck has a nice song being played but it has no name. KZEW does broadcast parts of this concert, most notably Jonathan Cain's keyboard solo and a segment of Who's Crying Now. But back to the concert, Send Her My Love, Still They Ride, and Faithfully are all done really well here. There was some minor audio gaps during some songs which I removed and the last song has some weird distortion towards the end.

Thank you for uploading this Chase. I was hoping somebody could identify the rehearsal song. Guess only a member of the band would know. Anybofy know how to reach them? Oh well, it sounded great.
A wonderful 40 year old moment in time.

Been a Journey fan since 1978. Never heard the song that starts at 4:15, during sound check. What is that? Unreleased material? So good. Would have been a hit!

That was one of Neals doodles that they played around with but definitely could have been an additional track.
Anything they did was great music!

I've often wondered about this myself. Listening with headphones it sounds like it starts at Perry or Neal's guidance right at the 3:00 mark. You can hear one of them explaining the base line on the mic. They all seem to gather themselves when Smitty starts his drumming with Neal bringing in his guitar riff and Perry laying in rough lyrics and melody. Could have been something they were working up on the side or it could have been spontaneous inspiration at sound check. I really like it, shame they never brought to a finish -- or -- maybe they did have a demo of it at some point but they didn't arrive at consensus on turning it into a releasable track. To me this highlights their band chemistry. A perfect blend of talents that fit together like a tight puzzle.

@@chaseharlann it was a dream to be there. I was still kinda young but had become a huge Journey fan. The awe of hearing Steve's voice in person was crazy - I was speechless. Back then, the only way i got new info on Journey was when the DJ talked about them or i read it in a magazine. I would mimic his moves and knew every word but when i saw the real deal, it was unreal. Then to see the rest of the band as well, let's just say it was a dream come true that almost didn't happen. We camped out to get tickets and just as i was next in line, they sold out. I was devastated. Journey did not come to San Antonio, not sure what the controversy was but they went everywhere else and it was only for one night in SA. I never understood why. I was jealous of other cities when I'd see their concert schedule. Multiple nights in Chicago, NY, LA. Luckily, we called around and found another record store that had nosebleed seats but we got them. I'll never forget what i went through to see them for the first time - it is stuck into my memory forever!

My uncle took me to concerts back then, so I don't know how he acquired tickets. But by this time, he had already taken me to see Nazareth, Ozzy (with Randy Rhoades, and Black Sabbath with Dio. Good memories

Removing the gaps 👍 There's some expensive audio manipulation software out there, but I still go back to Audacity (freeware) for cleaning up the gaps and reversing the fade in/out sections where the concert was split into multiple CDs.
