Michael Thompson If you could spell i might take you seriously. Buckingham palace does not belong to elizabeth II, The crown estate owns buckingham palace and is paying for the repairs out of its own pocket as it owns the building. The tax payer isnt paying for any of it. The crown estate generates its income just like any other business does. Any profits made go to the treasury and the queen is just given a Sovereign Grant each year to cover her cost of living. To be fair the queen brings in billions each year through tourism so she earns her keep. Most of these ignorant daily mail reading twats who moan their taxes pay for the queen to sit on her arse are just misinformed... plus half the moaners probably dont pay any tax anyway. I would say the queen generates a hell of a lot more than she takes and probably keeps thousands of people employed due to tourism. One last point is that the money spent will be distributed back into the economy as that money will be paid to workers to carry out the repairs, who will then spend it themselves.
The UK, what a great country, people earning minimum wage pay for their own home improvements whereas royal billionaires have those same minimum wage workers pay for their many home improvements, are ye all mad.
It’s not as though other countries don’t pump money into stuff that isn’t strictly necessary either but this isn’t even that bad. Buckingham Palace is a historical building and huge tourist attraction as well as a home of the head of state of many countries. So it does have to be functional and not derelict. The money is being put right back into the economy since people have to be paid to do all the work even if you think it’s a waste of money. The average persons house isn’t an important building, both politically and historically, that is also a work of art and an integral part of the British peoples culture. Also funnily enough the Queen and the royals family do work and she has done more so than probably anyone alive since she doesn’t retire or have holidays. I’m not sure what you think the alternative would be. Have it fall into disrepair and have the Queen work at Tescos until she can pay for a flat share?
Ian was on fire in this episode lol
I love Alexander Armstrong’s version of Golden Brown 😂❤️
the tax payer doesnt pay for the work despite what the media wants people to think (and get angry about)
WHERE DOSE THE QUEEN GET HER MONEY FROM? O YES THE TAX POWER!
