I'm so close to making a full move given how superior the library management and new AI features are. Its only stems and a few other bits in Serato that are holding me back.
Love your videos mate, I switched from rekordbox to Djay pro because of the stems. If rekordbox had better stem quality I would go back in a heartbeat because it has some great features and seamless integration with the FLX4
great Video! WHAT SERATO SHOULD ADD.? Streaming Radar & Collection Radar, Intelligent Cue creation, and from Tidal would be nice if we are able to use the Explore Genres already build inside Tiday no just the playlist we create.
@@THeGOLDWATErChannel For me it still makes sense to stick with only one platform for doing gigs with. For me that is Serato right now. But for more and more people it is rekordbox. I will be doing a video soon about features I’d really like to see inside Serato one day
Serato's sync cannot change the tempo along with the playing track to have another deck follow. In Rekordbox you can have a transition track that changes tempo (with correct beatgrids) and have another deck synced to it. So all synced decks changes tempo to the master decks tempo change. In Serato you need to put decks in the sync mode which then straightens the tempo to the value it had when you entered it. So if you are in sync on a tempo changing track,... You're going to have a bad time. In Rekordbox: no problem.
I'd say feature 4. Its great to check when you played a track. To make sure it was some time ago. There are so many feature tons of people don't know about. They removed Lyrics and visualizer. So sad to see them go. My library is super charged by MyTags. Combined with intelligent playlist it's on steroids. Matching tracks also nice when you want to do a set based on a sample. Track Suggestion which has related tracks and some standard ones like mood. Being able to set memory cues and hotcues. And add text. And convert memory on old tracks which don't have hot cues. Should i go on? I know people complain about stability and all but you only hear the ones having issues. Not the ones with no issue. And there are a lot of them around.
I made the opposite change, was a Rekordbox user and bought an older controller with full support for Serato Pro. What i did not like on serato compared to Rekordbox were the beatgrids (really messy on serato, specially on older songs... They are more exact on RB), waveforms (i prefer the blue/red design on RB than the colourful on Serato, as I have a small problem identifying colors), and the FX i think were more familiar to me on Rekordbox. I was thinking of switching back, but this would mean having to buy another controller that unlocks RB and im not sure I want to sell mine and do it again
Anyone discovered a way to get Flips over to RB7? I thought it was only DVS and Stems keeping me in Serato but I have loads of Flips that I use as well 🤔
Sad that Serato hasn’t been catching up to these features at all! I find it really interesting that they chose to work on useless effects that many of us pro djs don’t even need since most of us work on hardware that already has a much better integration for effects. I know they will most probably catch on at some point as they will not have choice to do so. Question is when and also why it’s taking them so much time to do so.. atleast if we saw some incremental updates that shows progress towards these features..sorry to say but Serato’s product team needs its own update. I’m slowly starting to consider making the switch to recordbox.. at this point the only thing holding me back is hardware support..
I agree on this one! After 24 years of djying, starting to get lost in my crates lol..tried re-organizing my crates and there's just not enough time to go through it all! I posted a feature request for this on the serato website a little while back. As a developer I can't comprehend how this small yet pretty useful feature has been neglected. This specially became a problem for me when I had my crates setup on multiple external and internal drives, one day I launched my serato and all my crates were displaced. I think all library management features should be reviewed and I would absolutely love it if they implemented the library mangement features that are available on Lexicon!
I really wanted to move to Rekordbox 7 and almost made the switch...but 7 is a mess, 6 is still good in my opinion. But the thing I like about Serato is, it just works. Regardless of the "lack of features". It's ol reliable.
Although pretty reliable, I find Serato was much more reliable in the past, these days not so much. I recently had my crates suddenly all displaced, serato crashing occasionally in the middle of my sets, beatgrids/bpm not analyzing properly (Although this is probably the case with all softwares), Serato not recognizing my controller/drivers not loading properly, I don't use the sync much but sometimes use it to transition to higher bpm and for some reason occasionally what would happen is when pressing sync, the song I would blend in would play at the slowest speeds and if I try again later with the same songs everything syncs well (Never figured out what is causing that ongoing issue)...anyway, all this to say it's not as robust as earlier days. I'm using a Macbook pro m3 with 32gb ram so I know for sure my computer isn't the issue. I've also noticed some of my songs that I downloaded from reputed dj pools get corrupt after analyzing them. Not sure if the songs were corrupt or the analysis itself corrupted the files.
@@djsouljah Yeah things happen for sure, there's no doubt. I mean, knock on wood nothing like that has happened to me and I am still on a 2015 16 gigs of ram Macbook Pro running 3.1.5 and It's been very stable for me. Unfortunately there are so many variables that can cause issues. As I had issues with VDJ that was later resolved. But RB7 had good intentions but they did the on thing that made me say nah, and that' putting the collection tab separately from the playlists. WTF is that...now I have to take an extra step if I need to find something that's not in a playlist is annoying. And not to mention they claim it was less resource hungry 😒
@@djshocase4577 haha yeah, With time I'm sure they'll figure out it's not meeting user expectations and review their collection tab flow. Indeed there are many variables that may cause issues and I don't blame Serato for all issues I experienced. I just find Recordbox has been a lot more user centric whereas Serato seams to be taking a more conservative approach. I'm excited to see an update notice every time, that is until I review change logs and face reality :P Overall though, both are pretty reliable with a few ocasional plot twists :P Just hope that we'll see more advanced library management features similar to what Lexicon offers come to light some time soon.
