Launch issues like this are never fun, especially with how much anticipation there was. Microsoft may have underestimated the demand and I really hope it was better planned with the complexity of the launch, but it’s clear that fixes are coming. Let’s hope things get back on track soon.
I set my expectations in reality. I was never going to download it on day one. I’ll probably have it by the end of the year but 2020 continues to serve me well in the meantime.
Problem is, that it’s loading profiles and transferring account content on first time login ( and consecutive re-tries) so that’s massive job, that might not e expected later down the line…. BUT MS /Assobo should have expected, esp with Xbox and gamepass. Though dose not help that my internet has been down this week, though was waiting the first week or two out due to expecting these exact issues anyway
@@magicaces13 Actually these days I don't. In a perfect world it would be great but the truth is games are so complicated that the first real stress test for the system is when everyone piles on. They Didnt underestimate demand.. They Knew and Know how much finite network capacity they have.. And they gleefully oversold their capacity like a greedy Southwest Airlines executive.

i pre ordered the premium and could not get the controller to work with the sim, windows showed the joystick was connected and working fine, MS flight sim showed that the primary flight surfaces were bound to the controller after i had to bind them myself, took me a couple of hours to figure out how to set up the controller and then not have it work, so i asked steam for a refund, the 200 bucks showed up a couple of hours after i asked for my money back, steam is awesome this way. I was really looking forward to this sim so much I spent just over 4 grand on a gaming rig pretty much for this game and i can not under stand why they made setting up the joystick so complicated to the point it failed the product and i ditched the game. I hope their future products will make the setup automatic for basic flight controllers. I will try the 2028, maybe by then they will auto map the controllers
Thanks for you insights on all this mate. Def going to wait 2-3 months before upgrading to msfs2024. Currently msfs2020 in VR is working very well so I'm not in any big hurry. Also, until the marketplace is properly in place and working, it's impossible to see what 2020 addons (esp. scenery) can be brought over.
What I do think: the launch was premature. Managed few flights on 20th and 21st but there’s many problems with bugs that make no sense. It’s impressive when it works but I think MS/Asobo will need to reflect carefully whether their current model is sustainable? Pc users need to be able to download planes and just stream the scenery. It is not the case of “were” or “was” but “is” happening all the time. I have a 1 Gbps network tested, and I have never managed to load the entire plane and scenery. I only managed to load barely flyable conditions five times since the launch. There were moments when my internet usage reached 800 Mbps, and I still received the “low bandwidth” message. I actually checked, and the average speed for players in Europe is around 110 Mbps, with even lower speeds globally. How on earth are they going to optimise this? They stated in the streams that they have 15 million players, so that’s the capacity you should expect them to handle.

At the moment, from 1-10, (10 being really good) it’s performing at a 3 for me with a LAN cable connected n everything. Maybe it’s just with release n everything that’s making the game so patchy on the console, but I’d def wait until they address most of the issues. Happy to say glad we still got 2020😅
Probably a mistake to have everything relying on streaming. Is it really necessary to have planes streamed? I am staying with msfs2020 for the next year. It will require that long at least to sort this out.
Already put down 200 hours into 2024 flying only in Just VR with ultra setting: Using my RTX 3080ti 12g. I still kept 2020 until more addons are available, I really am enjoying 2024 so far because of how optimize the game is than 2020.
Total absence of QA, rogue dev teams that say they are ok just to please management but struggle and then of course the elephant: the cloud based model which can never work in content distribution on the scale of Petabytes that need to flow around.
I played the alpha a month ago and it worked very well. Maybe they got to confindent, because this is also on gamepass where there are many new subscribers lately because of Call of Duty. So much more potential demand.
correct. the sim works and the visions is there. And since this has never been done in simming before, there is no way to cover all the bases 100%. don't know why simmers cannot get that simple fact

If I use a VPN to get a US server I can play the sim if I use my normal UK based internet it tells me bandwidth is too low and the game hangs..........
Downloading "something" 3h and then it´s hanging at 98%. Done this multiple times without success. And it´s not only on "launch day". Trying it since the launch and was never ever able to start it. Tried this on three different computers and I have a 1Gbit internet line. And indeed....It was never expected that hundreds of thousands of people would start the game at the same time, right? Who was sleeping at Microsoft?
I downloaded the standard version using my game pass. There is a lot of work to be done on the scenery. So far i have no idea as to the scenery that i purchased in fs2020 would be compatible with fs2024. Tbh fs2020 looks much much better than fs2024. Also the keyboard commands that we are used to in fs2020 woukd hqve ro be reconfigured in fs2024 whiich js a dainting task. Will wait for a fre months before i make ip my mind to buy the premium deluxe version and upgrade my pc. Take care. Cheers 🎊
The only surprise on launch day was that so many were surprised. Why on earth would otherwise intelligent people think Microsoft would build a massive over capacity of servers just so that after a couple of days most of it would sit idle as users settled back down to using it sporadically. Many were saying on launch day that Microsoft should have rolled out the launch region by region, those very same people would all want to be first in the queue though, image the tantrums of being told you're going to have to wait a few hours until it's your turn. Imagine everyone trying to turning up at the cinema to see the latest big release on the first showing with no concept of seeing it a few days later instead. You wouldn't expect them then to build massive cinemas just for one showing for each release.
Servers can be spun up amd down with surprising speed these dayd, not to mention as a Microsoft product they should hsve no shortage of server capacity.

I am happy that we can get rid of that type of sim where we have to install everything and have more and more on our drives. I guess as soon as they have fixed their Server issues and allow us to store some stufd on the drive it will be great
yeah but now if the servers go down you aint flying . or MS suddenly decides they don't want to support it any longer you suddenly don't own the game anymore.

The game is broken not just the launch problems. They took people's money and knew it was a mess beforehand. They should be held criminally responsible
The moral of this story is to never EVER pre order a game. The only way to force video game developers to stop doing this is to stop blindly giving them your money for an unknow quantity. accepting that a 70-200 dollar product is just going to be broken right out of the box is just being a shill. 2020 was a rather boinked release too and it seems Asobo and MS didn't learn or didn't care.
It's done. Over. 4 years of 2020 and they still couldn't fix it and (realistically) made it worse. I mean, look at what they did with SU15. Maybe it’s just with release n everything that’s making the game so patchy on the console, but I’d def wait until they address most of the issues. Happy to say glad we still got 2020😅
Very wise.
It's only been out 44 hours
You can get on by using a VPN and setting you location to somewhere where's it's 3am
Day 3 off peak time and i still cant load into the game, getting bandwidth error
Edit: 2 hours later I managed to do 1 campaign mission. Currently stuck in an endless loading screen
issues are still being sorted. So this is not how it is going to be
@@pieterduplessis6906 You make lots of noise sonny, but you say absolutely nothing! A real fanboi if ever I saw one!
Thanks for the info but just remind me how many people worked on MSFS 2020 and then on MSFS 2024?.
It's like Groundhog Day.
I have not purchased 2024
Time is a good healer, give it a year or so and it will be fine.
Chill dudes and enjoy 2020.
If I use a VPN to get a US server I can play the sim if I use my normal UK based internet it tells me bandwidth is too low and the game hangs..........
Set your VPN to any country where is 3am the servers are quiet and you can get on
It seem good now. I have no problem getting into the sim. But I have no aircraft engine sound on xbox and pc. I don't know what's going on there.
i have given up for now few more days and i will give it a go
"Wasnt flawless" I would argue that it was all flaw
Did the Beta testers and those who went to Las Vegas see as many "bugs?"
Take care. Cheers 🎊
announcing your departure. Don't we do that IN SIM, not on forums
@@pieterduplessis6906 Who died and put you in charge? Wanker!
It is clearly not ready for release
Anyone without a gig speed internet is screwed
i sim with 400mpbs and NO ISSUES. so that is false
@@pieterduplessis6906 That you are NOT a bot is also false!
I can’t find my community folder, can someone help?
100% agreed here.
Servers can be spun up amd down with surprising speed these dayd, not to mention as a Microsoft product they should hsve no shortage of server capacity.
The did not wait for our money!!
Im back to msfs 2020
Refund msfs 2020
Aerobridge hanging on the sky +/- 100m,
Airplane taxi through airport building,
If bad connection internet,
I see airplane parking like origami,
(Setting high)
Launch day was horrible and thb idk if its my joystick or what but some of the planes especially the max is too sensative and floaty in the air it goes up and down even with little movement but otber than that I actually liek the game, also for some reason my sim would be smooth then next momment im getting 5-10fps💀
everyone should of got to play the alpha and test for 3 months
valid point. refreshing to read. A real beta test, not the one siimers think is going on now
I am happy that we can get rid of that type of sim where we have to install everything and have more and more on our drives. I guess as soon as they have fixed their Server issues and allow us to store some stufd on the drive it will be great
yeah but now if the servers go down you aint flying . or MS suddenly decides they don't want to support it any longer you suddenly don't own the game anymore.
@@ladyhawk7408 neither do you own movies of music you buy online., so this is not new. this "flat-earth" type thinking sometimes sounds valid but in the end the era of owning physical media is ending. That will not cause me not to buy this platform. Supposed to be fun, not laden with political ideology not to buy it
FULLY AGREE. It will be fantastic and most of the whiners on here will be back or keep on complaining because they have no other "setting"
simmers seem to want things to be perfect before they move play or buy. And such will miss out on many wonderful things in life
enjoy 2024. I will, issues and all
Very disappointing.Could be a while until I consider buying this boss !
No excuses are valid for a company of this magnitude. And justifying that only adds water to the trend of releasing unfinished products, expect to be paid, fingers crossed it will reach its optimal state. Please tell me another product or service that works as such.
so many words, and yet so uninformed.
"Please tell me another product or service that works as such." - EXACLY, this has never been done before in simming, so tell me how they should have known beforehand ????????
let's keep fingers crossed YOU become part of a project of this scope, to see how it really goes. to see that no matter how big the company is, there are just some issues you cannot plan for. have you like never worked a day in your life ????????????? Or been part of a challenge you did not foresee.
try again
You know Microsoft is just the publisher right? Also is this your first flight simulator? Seems like you're new to all this.
these hiccups are nothing next to how beautiful the sim is, people do not realize that this is not your run of the mill game, these guys are trying to create something truly amazing that no one has ever done before, so they have to handle problems that no one has ever had before... these unpatient untitled people are getting on my nerves. Just ask for a refund if u re not happy and stfu
They act like spoilt children.
very disappointed, sat for 6 hrs on day one had to try next day.
controls not working ie trim , no rotor shadows.
im in vr and without auto fps and open xr its worse than 2020. not virtual desktop compatible so have to use steam vr 😢
ill be going back to 2020 for a month.
this sim is a complete mess, I'm so glad I did not fall for the hype ! It will take months to put this right , all this has done is play into the hands of other Sims XP etc , In my view from what I have seen its for Xbox gamers in the main , its no longer a Flight Sim its an arcade game .I was in so much hope for this product , it may come right in 2 x years or so ,but no not for me !
Game is so bad on Xbox
Why does it not using the phonetic alphabet?
Honestly, it feels like a money grab.
I told myself maybe 1 week. 30 hrs in it was near perfect. No problem. People moaning like spoilt children.
DCS still works. And you can put warheads on foreheads.😂😂😂
Really don’t see the reason to buy this and over hype… it’s basically 2020… mean what’s really so different ?
if you don't know, then maybe the issue is with YOU and the fact that you either don't read, listen or grasp the various presentations they gave on WHAT IS DIFFERENT ANDE BETTER
The only part that matches up with 2020 is the "202" of 2024
Yup. Some differences are good, some are bad. Not worth this continuous shit with cloud only. Back to 2020 then.
The flightmodels are the same dogshit for sure...
I really convinced myself that Asobo "had it" in the bag and would blow us all away.
"It's just launch issues" I've told myself, but after playing, it's honestly horrible and I'm beyond relieved I didn't give these fools any of my money.
Catastrophe!?🫤 You call that a catastrophe!?!! The fact that you had to leave it downloading overnight, get up on the morning and find out installed?
Just out of curiosity, how would you call it when your child gets bone cancer?
